- Footage from the island showed the volcano engulfed in smoke on Thursday, while lava flowed from an opening 700 meters (2,295 feet) above sea level into the Mediterranean.

Seems to be a lot of volcanoes erupting lately. I su-pose that’s common in some places but to me it seems to be increasing.

That is just such a tired joke because everyone knows volcanoes do not emit much CO2. Human society releases up to 100 X as much COw as volcanoes in any gicen year!
Stromboli has been erupting for 2000 years almost continuously and by far more common in much milder very short energy bursts that aren’t like this
ALL of Italy's volcanoes combined are about 4 million tons of CO2 per year.
All of Italy's human activity combined is about 300 million tons of CO2 per year.
It's not volcanoes that are warming the planet. In every country with volcanoes, human emissions exceed volcanic ones. Volcanoes can take the crown for a day or two at a time with very, very large eruptions (*much larger than this one*), but human caused emissions are constant and do not relent, so on the scale of a whole year or longer human emissions always win.

WAY MORE POLLUTION in a DAY than all of Italy's ANNUAL polution from CARS, etc.
Not really Etna’s eruptions cause ~3 million tons of CO2 emissions a year and Stromboli is smaller so it causes even less emissions.
Italy’s CO2 emissions are around 300 million tons.
