    One of the things I find most challenging is taking a lot of spin off the ball when I set so that the set goes forward instead of backward. Hope that makes sense!

    The hardest part is PATIENCE! Waiting for the ball to come fully into the hands before pushing it out. I tend to stab at it early like an indoor set.

    Hardest part I would say is knowing how high the hitter wants the ball to be set. I understand that there is a rhythm to the play but setting the ball a little higher or lower than what the hitter wants can break the timing.

    My issue is (finger) control when the ball is passed very high in the air...I have trouble absorbing the speed of the ball coming down from a high distance with my fingers & wrists. I will double (catch/hold the ball to long) or the set wont come off as clean.

    Denis, net foot forward means that the foot closer to the net when setting should be forward. So when you are on left of the net you will put left foot forward and when setting from the right side to the left you would put the right foot forward.

    Let us know in the comments below what you think the most difficult part of setting is. Post a video of yourself doing the exercises in the video on our Facebook group VolleyChat! and we will give you some feedback on your technique! bit.ly/VolleyChatFB

    Hi. When I started way back in the late 60's and then played regularly, the setter technique was very tight. The setter just could not hold the ball for too long in his/her hands. Touching had to be very fast, or if not it would be a fault. Every since I started watching beach volleyball, I noticed that the setter now keeps the ball in his/her hands a little longer, before pulling the ball out of his fingers. It seems as if they hold the ball for a moment and then pull it out. I don't know how to do this properly. I'd love to see the actual hands setting technique in detail.
    By the way, your videos are great.

    Great videos; thanks! Most difficult part is taking heavy spin off the ball when hand-setting. What's the technique? Do you ever try to identify the direction of the spin and compensate for it with corresponding spin from your hands? Do you just try to have an extra-long, soft contact and risk a lift?

    Can we see some examples of sets that would get called at the pro level as a double? My question is more or less, what's the line, what is the judgement, what really classifies a set as a double or lift and how do refs see at the pro level. My sets are good for A, but I want them to be perfect.

    what do you mean by "net foot"? is that the foot closer to the net?

    Its hard to measure how high the ball to place

    Most challenging part for me is hand setting height, I can’t hand set ball high enough.
    Using correct Footwork getting to the right spot behind the ball, squaring to target, I don’t have much power loaded (in knees, elbow, wrists) and my set goes barely 1-2ft above the net.

    Most challenging for me is probably basic technique. I constantly get called for carrying or doubling.

    How about setting backward?

    • @Tenorsax69er
      @Tenorsax69er 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. I would guess that your net foot would then be behind you instead of in front of that’s the intention but it can’t be a last minute decision.
