This only works for some 2-3 seconds after you enter the menu though, and without pressing any other key immediately. Otherwise, pressing a number key kicks you out of the menu and into the dialling screen. Something Nokia feature phones did at least until 2006, the lowest series probably even longer.

If memory serves me right, you can press the corresponding number to what you want to skip all the scrolling. It should work on both types of views.
