My favorite thing about how long this show is, is things like this. Ming Lan was miserable growing up ignored and hated by everyone but her grand mother. But throughout the whole show you start to see how everyone in her family starts to warm up to her. Starting with her 5th sister.
Of course, when she got prestige & married a Marquis. When she helped them they admired her, except when she spoke up, never forget how that old father slapped her. He would never have hit her if her husband was there.
The siblings from the first wive never hated her. It was only the scheme second wive and her stupid spoiled daughter. She was miserable because she stood up against that evil second wive that cost her mothers live.
I love how the New Emperor and his family treat Gu Tingye like a member of their family, appreciate and respect him far more than his biological family does. And Gu Tingye cares and respects them in return and is loyal to them.
Well duh, Gu Tingye’s mother died in child birth alongside supposedly going to be his younger sister or brother. His family is constantly scheming for the Duke position. In this entire series, he have saved the royal family over 3 times. Chinese culture have a very strong sense of respect toward the ones who saved yourself or someone close to you.
The best part of the series was watching how happy they are together-no matter the conflict they work together to overcome and be supportive to each other. I did not think I was going to like this series but I did!
Such a wholesome confession. They both show each other who they truly are, Minglan expresses her fears and worries with confidence and he accepts them, giving her reassurance and comfort. It was a slow process but because it was slow we were able to see what they went through and how those struggles led them to each other.
I was so disappointed when I saw that Yano was courting her and I was going to drop it but then when GT came back into the picture I was all happy. They have genuine affection and understanding of each other. He is opened about everything there is to him and she learned to hide. But with him she has always been herself even if she didn’t know it. She talked to him like a true friend I doubt that she could have been herself with Yano.
@@ilcu4p I so agree with you! Yan Roe loved who he Thought she was. Gu Tingye loved who she actually was. Ming Lan would have never have been at ease to be her full self with Yan Roe; he saw her as the perfect rich young lady; intelligent, but passive, and deferential. With Gu Tingye she can share her intelligence, physical skills, passion, thirst for fairness, as well as her incredible strength to fight an oppressor, her ability to scheme, and her rage. He loves all her parts, even the broken and dark ones.
I want marriage like this wherein husband and wife talk about their worries....so no repeatitive misunderstanding coming up. Same with swords and brocade
I love the fact that he demand her to be herself and told her that life will be hard and he can’t promise that it will be easy but he is willing to make it less hard and always be true to her.
@@ilcu4p I want to see it, I am just gathering patience and strength to deal with 73 episodes, but I love spoilers and need to know that they'll have a happy ending, if not why would I watch it?? And in my book Gu Tingye relinquishing the Marquis title to his third brother is nonsensical and something I strongly disagree with. From what I've seen, the third brother is competly incaple of leading a big, noble and aristocratic family. The Gu family would rapidly loose favor and be embroiled in lots of problems.
@@Monalex89, 73 seems long but each episode is good and not a drag. Some dramas that I have seen have episode that is a waste of time and you wonder why. By the time you get to 73 you will want more.
I forward romance a lot when watching Chinese Dramas and I don't even care about Zhao Lying too much either. But this whole scene is done remarkably well. It is by far the best confession scene I've ever watched (forwarded or not). Gu Tingye is also my favourite ML among Chinese dramas I've watched, as more often than not I want to see them killed every 5 minutes. Also, 73 episodes is a lot, but it's really worth watching if anyone is still on the fence about it in 2024.
Some say it was mother-in-law’s old fashion demands or something that’s made them divorced. Who knows what really happened? They both played the dramas but could not handle in real life. That’s the way fantasy n reality are diff.
