    I'm not a surfer, but it was pretty funny seeing you zoom past the people paddling out while you're riding in, only to see you double back and immediately catch another wave 😂
    I have no clue why you'd surf after seeing one of these hydrofoils zoom in and zoom out before you've even paddled 5 meters. Cool video, thanks for sharing!

      Haha yeh that’s why I don’t surf anymore. It’s too much fun and you get so much ride time compared to surfing. Thanks for watching!

      My thoughts exactly. I'm nearly 65 but fit. Regular surfing doesn't appeal but this? This'd like to try - with a wetting foil.

    I'll bet that jumping up and down can wear you out,
    I'd just bring a Roo (kangaroo?) ..
    This is only about the 6th video I've seen of these foils,
    never heard of this before this month.
    I initially thought they were motorized lol, absolutely
    amazing, this comment coming from an ancient kid
    that grew up surfing. This looks like such an improvement
    in so many ways, to what we used to do.
    I can't imagine why anyone is out in the water with
    a conventional surfboard after discovering these foils, so
    amazing.

    • @misterbennetts
      @misterbennetts  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Haha yeh it’s a good workout. It’s the future of surfing for sure. There is literally no down days with the foil. It’s amazing!

    • @bikersoncall
      @bikersoncall ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@misterbennetts That's cool, I guess
      that on the worst days, you can still
      get out, workout, and even though
      nothings breaking, catch some of
      the swells. That's one aspect that amazes
      me most, the fact that you can
      catch so many swells that you
      couldn't possibly catch on a conventional
      board, and on an average day, many of
      those will eventually break and give
      a fun ride.

    Absolutely gorgeous, but let's be clear about the music: what you hear is a reworking of the main theme of Ryuichi Sakamoto's music for the movie, Mr Christmas Mr Lawrence. A sublime piece of music to begin with - all they did was add a beat. 'Double Touch' or whoever chose this needs to acknowledge their debt - it is mostly 'borrowed'.

    • @misterbennetts
      @misterbennetts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes for sure, it’s a rework/remix, but what Double Touch did is make this beautiful song playable in a DJ set. The percussion and drums make the song ‘danceable’ without taking away from the original. I absolutely love it!

    Sydney bodysurfer here. I feel like my body is now old school! Beautiful location and footage, excellent production and totally inspiring to watch. Presuming you have been a surfer for some time, was it a tough transition? Does it feel like you work harder foiling than surfing? You probably get better heads up on the surf with the extra foot of height I'm guessing. Thanks Adam - I'm blown away. Cheers - Dave

    • @misterbennetts
      @misterbennetts  ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Hi mate! Thanks for the kind words. Yeh I’ve surfed for 25+ years. It was definitely a tough transition; it’s really hard being in such a familiar environment but everything is so foreign. But then one day it all just clicks and then you have a bunch of ‘aha’ moments and you end up progressing through the learning process quite fast. So you get better pretty quickly. Definitely work way harder than in surfing, purely because you get so much ride time and you aren’t just limited to 1 wave per ride, it can take you through 5-10 waves and 3-5 mins at a time. I usually do between 500-1000 calories in a 1 hour session, depending on conditions. It’s truly mind blowing what’s possible with these things, it opens up every single body of water - waves or no waves! 🤙🏼

    First, top music choice 😎
    Second, it's mighty similar to surf skating a bowl.
    Are the waves kinda like bowl transitions?
    Do you get pushed up by the wave or do you need to pump up and down like on a surf skate (which is what gives you speed of course)?
    I ask because the foil stays flat regardless of waves so i figure you must have to drive it up the face of the wave and down as well... But by doing that i can see where you'd get all that speed from pumping the transition, plus the wave travelling forwards.
    Like skating a moving dynamic bowl! Awesome!

    • @misterbennetts
      @misterbennetts  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! It’s actually nothing like surf skating. It’s more like snowboarding. But you use the wave energy for speed by staying high on the wave and then drop in to wipe speed off etc. the pumping is because you’re going against the swell and energy so you need to keep the foil moving at a certain speed or it will stall out. You paddle into waves like you would like a surfboard and just pop up 🤙🏼

I’ll be using mine for wing foiling but surfing looks like a blast too. It doesn’t seem like it might bother other surfers bcuz it doesn’t make the wave break and your usually down the line already by the time it gets to a rideable wave for them? Yeh once again depends on the brand. I use a shim on the front bolts with the eagles on the F-one for more front foot pressure. Same with the lift foils. With something like Axis I’d use a shim in the back bolts to take out the front foot pressure cause they have way too much. It’s just a way of tuning the feel without moving the mast.
