@@LearnHow2 one year on and the only thing I have done differently is grown more onions, Iv just used your amazing method it’s so simple and satisfying. Thanks again Simon
No. This method is ONLY FOR ONIONS. Garlic is for vampires and people with ugly attitudes. Garlic needs to be kept separate until it is mixed into the recipe. Put garlic into everything. That way vampires melt, when they eat your food, like the wicked witch of the west who got wet. Them's the rules.
Do they last longer if not touching? Last year was my first and a big disappointment was the rotted lot 20% or so. I hung them in groups of 4 touching. Unknowingly I followed the prehanging steps but feel something was not right due to my loss.
It is important that each onion is thoroughly dried and free from disease before stringing. In the past I have had one onion rot and it has spoiled its neighbours. Keep safe.
@@LearnHow2 Thanks for the advice. I forgot to check for an answer. It amazes me that from the same bed and the same amount of drying time and the care with which you grow them some will still rot and some won't. Mother nature is a b some times.
❤ thank you for this simple quick and easy tutorial! This is amazing!

Brilliant!!! Love it thank you for the video.
Very helpful
How long can onions last like this?
They should last 8 to 10 months. After 6 months check weekly use any that go soft and discard any that show signs of rot.
Great help, thank you!
Hi Jane. Thank you for your appreciation.Keep safe.
Great show and tell. I do believe I can do this!
Great video. Can a cool place to hang be outside in a shelter?
Hi Andy. The problem with outside is damp and possible bacterial infection. Keep safe.

Thanks for the refresher...what about garlic? Can they be stored the same way?
Great idea, never knew about this, thsnks and have a gud weekend.
Ok, I can’t resist asking the seemingly dumb question…do you use these from top to bottom?
I have done both but top seems most logical. Keep safe.

Great
Thanks
thanks for your appreciation.
I wrap the Onion stem around the string in the shape of a figure 8
But if we buy from the market we wont getonion like this
Means with big tail to hang
You can't skip steps 1-4.
You can save the roots 4 the next time. You know theat WRIGHT. No!
Thanks for your tip - we are all learning every day.
too low of volume can't hear
Sorry about that.
Are those shallots or onions?
They seem slightly small for onions. You might want to weed more. You should not be seeing weeds at harvest time.
there's nothing wrong with a few weeds. have you ever heard of no till gardening?
Thanks
