A true singer weather you like them or not is a performer or singer that stays on pitch or on the note , that's the true defnition of a singer , and Diana Ross fits that bill period . That's along with her other attributes ,Charisma , Charm, , Style, her Versatility and abiilty to sing any genre of music , not only that she can act .and she can do improvisations as she showed in her "An Evening With Diana Ross " concert . Diana Ross's talents cover the entertainment industry like a tent . There simply is no one else like her , there is no other. And having a baby for by the head of a company is not what's gonna make people by records . That argument is bull s*** , if that was the case I'm sure it would have been a whole lot of babies out there and a whole lot more stars as big as Diana. That mess doesn't work because you're gonna have to bring it , if you can't or won't or don't bring it you can forget it's that simple. And in Diana's case everybody knows Diana brought it , she brings it , and after all these years she's still bringing it .
YES, While people were still claiming how Diana can't sing ...she gave you consistent concerts where the goal was ALWAYS to give us what we heard on the RECORDING!!! ALWAYS Diana never really does SHORT CUTS it is a RARE thing for her to do as she KNOWS what we EXPECT! God rest her soul ARETHA would take ALL KINDS OF short cuts AWAY from her recordings in her later years where Diana WENT FOR IT... You see she may NOT have ALWAYS got it ...the thing with Diana is she ALWAYS WENT FOR IT! Where Aretha COMPLETELY AVOIDED IT...I witnessed this with my OWN research watching several concerts &/or concert clips. Same thing with Dionne love her like no tomorrow & EVEN THOUGH she may be the MOST CREATIVE with her vocal detours ...the girl is like the QUEEN of ALTERNATE interpretations of her recorded music...that are ACTUALLY OFTEN VERY artistic musically! Yet it is clear that Dionne's range is much lower than Dionne at the top of her game and hey day! But Dionne knows as well as we it was smoking that has a lot to do with it MORE Than her natural ability! So I think Dionne's excuse is VALID however a self imposed limitation on her instrument! All this to say Diana maintained her signature sound WELL after great MANY diva's expiration dates! Diana appears to take CARE of her voice and maintain a lifestyle that preserves her voice where many divas seem to coast on past vocal abilities! I haven't heard many female singers who can express, interpret, and deliver locally as beautiful as Diana Ross. No matter what genre she is singing in, the songs are delivered and interpreted wonderfully. You do not hear her resorting to runs and rushes when the words fail her. She delivers. This is all anyone should ask for. When I think of Diana Ross, the words consistency, wonderful, beautiful, and prepared.
