Sharmon, I need you to know that I REALLY needed this video today. My beloved Aunt who saved my life as a child had a massive stroke last week, sadly her body is still here but what remains of her mind is that of a 2 year old. She will need to be placed into a longterm care facility for the remainder of her life, prior to this she was a very active 84 year old who only retired 3 years ago. The stress of it all on top of the text message phone tag with extended family members had me feeling very close to snapping. Then I saw this video and smiled. Thank you, this walk on the beach picking up pretty seashells and saying hi to our critter friends really helped! Thank you. What you do matters.

    Dear Sharmon,
Here in the Netherlands, we have dense fog for more than a week now.
It gets a bit better along the day, but it keeps gloomy.
So, lots of airplanes are delayed because they can't fly.
To be honest: we are all quite done with it, and we are longing to see some sunlight again.
But that being said: the foggy day you went out shelling was amazing. And although it wasn't easy to find them, the shells are gorgeous!
And those critters; you've got to love them!❤ They're so cute! 😍
I hope you have a wonderful week! Sending love and hugs, xoxo ❤, Ilona

Yay, 1st. Thanks Sharmon, that was a productive slow day. I love limpets. I can remember years ago when I carried two bags when shelling (plus a small Tupperware for tinys) and people would ask what I found. I would show them what was in one bag and they would ask about the 2nd bag, it was trash. I can't count the number of times people would say WHY and I finally got to the point of saying because it is there. This started in the early 70's, it took until about 2000 before they stopped asking why. I used to pick up 100's of cigarette butts and candy wrappers. Sorry for the rant.

if everyone who visited "nature" picked up a little litter...just think how much nicer those excursions would be for the next nature lover. litter patrol doesn't have to just be beaches;) although it would be a whole lot nicer if folks would be better about not littering in the first place

Hi Sharmon. As always, it was good to hear your voice and watch you find all those critters and glorious shells. Well I have to add my voice to the person below me in the comments - that first fighting conch! Oh my goodness, for those of us who love conchs, that was certainly an eye opener. I too loved the gaudy nauticas, the calico clams with the sunburst rays, that choice very white lace murex, the beady cardita, and the calico clam with the barnacles. Thank you for sharing. It's one of the brightest spots in my week. Have yourself a good week too. And I am warm in spite of dealing with temps in the upper 20s here in the PNW.

Hello, love! Sorry to be late. Snow falling here and -10 wind chill and that means intense pain for me. Wasn't watching the clock.
So glad to shell with you, it may shift my focus! Lots of critters today! Sad that they have to die so we can have their shells. I guess, though, if they're going to die anyway, we may as well honor their memory.

Have you ever wondered or even addressed on here how it is that some of the barnacles on especially the calico scallops, seem to soak up the color from the scallop shell? I always think the scallops are so pretty with their matching little barnacles. LOL....never mind you read my mind (dull reading ,eh?).
