Robin has the fingers that can control those notes using the natural sustain in the setup. Magic. Dewar's vocal and bass delivery are stellar as well as the drumming like a metronome.
This was the first version of Rock Me Baby I every heard, was probably only 11-12 years old, this album had been out a couple of years. So in my brain, this is THE version. Which is just great, I think. I never get tired of hearing Robin play and James sing.
That's awesome :)
Wow, that guitar was scorching! You're probably right that there are no bad versions of Rock Me Baby, but this definitely is amongst the baddest. Great poll pic and great review. Thanks SAD!
Thank you Chuck!
Rock and Roll and The Blues had a child, and they named him Robin Trower.
I love this song! This is my favorite version but a close 2nd is Hendrix live at the Monterrey Pop Festival. I have an album that I've never seen anyone else with called Historic Performances with Hendrix and the Experience on one side and Otis Redding on the other. Its like a sampler album with 4 Hendrix tracks and 5 Redding tracks. I wore that vinyl album out. Like A Rolling Stone, Rock Me Baby, Can You See Me and Wild Thing. Over and over and over I played that Hendrix side. And now I'm going downstairs and pulling it out to listen again, lol. I just dont think I've ever heard a bad version of this song. But Robin and James Dewar really make it their own here.
That sounds awesome! Do you still have that vinyl?
Thanks guys its always a jem you guys react to. ❤
Thanks so much!
Not too shabby
Dan Marino and Mahogany Rush does a pretty good version of this song.
You've got to check out the version from the Robin Trower live album 1975!
Thanks Kevin!
prefer the live version, but as you and others have said, don't think there's a bad version. Also, as Chaz points out, Dewar and Trower on this makes it even more special.
Is this an extension of Chuck's "Royalty" theme? Pharoah..Albert KING as this was co written by BB KING!, lol
Ha ha! Y'all better watch out with all this Royalty stuff. Its making me want to put another King in the Patreon poll! 👑😎
OOOH ! just a suggestion . have you given "Be Bop Deluxe " a go , proper under rated bunch of chaps
, Axe Victim , 1st Album 1974 , give that a wine test and see if you like it ! cheers
After you have heard Robin Trowers version of this tune , you have to take a proper shower coz its so down and dirty ! love it ! Proper Ace ,
Ps ! The live version is even dirtier .
Hell yeah
Trower should have patented his guitar tone. No one else sounds like him.
