You can tell how nervous the guys were with Mr Stipe, they are fans. What a delightful guest to listen to, the passion in his work and different careers was great to hear. Thank-you.
Wow - Wil dominated this interview! I was expecting Sean to ask more questions like it seemed he wanted too. Thanks guys. Grest show and listening to Michael Stipe was inspiring! Bravo!
The scale, scope, depth and strength of REM's catalogue is unrivalled in American rock' n' roll history. Their first 5 (1/2) independent albums (Murmur, Chronic Town, Reckoning, Fables of the Reconstruction, Life's Rich Pageant and Document) are all Hall of Fame worthy and endure as lodestars for any and every indie band looking to do it the right way. The 'megastar', major label era that followed them (Green, Out of Time, Automatic for the People, New Adventures in Hi-Fi) was THE example of how to become huge without a shred of compromise. After the public's fickle eye moved away from them to shinier new things, their later works as a threesome (Up, Reveal, Accelerate, Collapse Into Now) were graceful, feisty, innovative and deserve consideration among their most beloved works. They even broke up with dignity - quietly going away without a cheesy farewell tour or a protracted, glorified series of tell-all interviews. Those of us who grew up with them were very, very lucky and won't soon forget them.
REM The Great Beyond... I'm pushing an elephant up the stairs... I'm breaking through I'm bending spoons I'm keeping flowers in full bloom I'm looking for answers from the Great Beyond... looking for answeeeeeers! Over my shoulder a piano crashes to the ground! Genius
They played an REM song at the end of the last episode of The Bear….Half a World Away. It fit so well with a show filled with angst and sadness. I was also reminded what a beautiful song that is.
From Protozoa to Methuselah - Michael Stipe is a true artist. Freaking amazing. Speaking of popular music that has meaning/message.... Please, for the love of god, get Dave Matthews on!! Please and thank you! ;-)
I danced/neck danced next to Michael Stipe at a Tragically Hip show at the 40 Watt...i was too intimidated to speak to him. He was in the Out of Time gear...I regret it because i have friends who have had great experiences with him. He and Gord are my tops.
IATQ! is also available to have any member or R.E.M. on as a real guest! Our "special" guest is a lil too special at times! If we got Michael Stipe on, well, hot damn! That would be just swell! I'll Ask The Questions! is betting that Mikey is a huge snickers fan?, No! Milky Way!! th-cam.com/users/shortskgODrQ_Z9NI?feature=share
Totally disagree. They were always original and created songs they wanted to. Their biggest selling albums, Out of Time and Automatic for the People were still incredibly original. It's just that more and more people finally discovered them. They were not College Radio's precious secret anymore.
I wonder if Bateman has ANY f#cking clue how condescending it is when he refers to us as "listener." 🤦🏼🤔 It's bad enough Will "my voice is literal nails 💅 on a chalkboard" continues to prove all Canadians aren't likeable, but come on.
its been a running gag since the beginning of the podcast. In the beginning they thought they only would have one or two listeners. Calm down dude, who is forcing you to follow this podcast?

Incredible interview. Michael is at once one of the nicest and most interesting people on the planet.
Phenomenal conversation! Kudos on getting the magnificent Michael Stipe on the podcast!

I feel like will dominates most of these interviews. It is annoying
@emilyfrank1 Yeah, it's starting to annoy me more and more. Do you think the three of them read these comments here?

I am very happy I found this! So much talent for one conversation! Stipe is such an original.

South Central Rain was my intro in the 80’s… love R.E.M. and Michael so much! They are one of the bands that fill the soundtrack of my youth 🥰
Nothing makes me happier than listening to the musical artists they have on. Michael was so humble and clever. Yet another great one, guys! Thank you!
Really enjoyed this! A very relaxed and open Michael Stipe, thanks to these guys lightening the mood! Learned a lot, fun interview!
Beautiful harmony Sean, Jason, and Will 🎼
Why in the fudge don’t you do this as a video ? I neeeeed to see your facial expressions… pure gold !!
Great interview. My REM fav is Strange Currencies.
What a BEAUTIFUL conversation. i love how you all were instant friends. I hope the dinner has happened by now.
Stipe is a wonderful human being! R.E.M. is tied with The Grateful Dead for the title as best American band ever!
Not counting the Shaggs?

Once I heard, the album, "Fables of the Reconstruction",... wow...
That was great!
Radio Free Europe.....and Don't go back to Rockville.... played it until the cassette tape wore out...then bought another.
I have loved REM since Radio Free Europe. It makes total sense he produced Velvet Goldmine - one of my favorite movies.

Will Arnett has turned into Anthony Robbins.

I just heard about this podcast from Travis and Jason's Kelce podcast New Heights
We need some video during your podcast!! I wanna see willy's biceps😂😂💪
LA and NYC blow! NYC slightly better. But it was my first concert in Omaha NE in 1989. AWESOME. But old school songs epic.
He should be Scarlett’s godfather too, love this one
Murmur was for me what Horses was for Michael. 😔
I wonder who will get Rufus Wainwright?
Mike is a deep thinker

Thank you!
Will was a little sickening on this podcast. He was trying so hard to impress.

Why does Bateman LOVE pizza parties??????
Nice time. Mike is not using his “ boyfriend “ ‘s name 🤷
REM old school is pen ultimate. They totally sold out as most musicians do.

I like the podcast. I like Jason.
