I was there in ‘03 the year before it cut off the river, the construction was then a few years from completion, the size was mind boggling. It took 17 years to complete, 7k workers on site at anyone time, 24/7. It displaced 2.1 million people because of the reservoir it created which went up to Chongqing 300+ miles upstream. Entire river towns eventually went underwater.
This demonstrates the consistent human capital development of the Chinese. Each generation builds on the knowledge-based of the previous generation. There is no limit to their future, one can only imagine where they will be in the next fifty-years.
