The issue with sliced bread, is just that with good quality bread it makes the bread dry faster, thus it's kind of undesirable most of the time. You can still find the type of bread that last for weeks in Europe yes, but it's (a bit) less harmful for the body (less sugar, chemicals etc) and it sells less, as most Europeans prefer real bread, in an actual bakery.

well in uk we use imperial for heights, speed and length but in other stuff like smaller measurements and weight we use metric
The UK uses a hybrid approach to metric and imperial and it really just comes down to the exact thing that you are measuring. For example, Body temperature is measured in fahrenheit and air temperature in celsius. Its the same for weight and distance.
