I'm glad I'm not the only one who has this is as a favorite song of all time. I feel it is very underappreciated or unheard by too many people. Awesome tutorial.
Hey Derrik! just wanted to let you know that you're by FAR the best guitar teacher on youtube! Im 23 years old and I've just picked up a guitar for the first time a few days ago with whiskey and you being my first song I chose to learn. Once I get more advanced id love for you to do another tutorial on a Chris Stapleton song as he's my favourite artist! Best regards from Sudbury,Ontario Canada
Bro thanks so much for this, I've been struggling to figure out that middle G slide and I didn't realize it was that much of a stretch. Great content, you just gained a sub
I've been playing this song for a couple years now and even though I've got it down, the slide is still the toughest/most favorite part of the whole song lol. Well taught brother
Dude, I just recently started learning some Chris Stapleton songs on TH-cam. Your lesson is awesome! And by the way, your voice is awesome doing this stuff. Thank you.
Awesome tutorial Derrik 👍 i honestly thought it was gonna be a bit out of my league but you definitely made it make sense by really breaking it down NICE job keepem coming. Thanks & God Bless
Just watched 4 or 5 of your videos. These are great and really well done! Saw a suggestion on one for I See Fire by Ed Sheeran and I have to second that.
Putting the final touches on this and SO appreciate your lesson! It’s fantastic! 👏 One suggestion for a next lesson would be “Not Cause I Wanted To” - Bonnie Rait LIVE version. Love your channel, thanks!!
Wow, great instruction. Do you have a chord/tab sheet for the last part and how you're fingering the chords during the strumming part? Or for the whole song?
@@DerrikRockne You’re welcome, Derrik Rockne!! You deserve a tremendous attention more than anyone else! I’m a talent scout for Sessions. I have a fantastic opportunity for you if you’re interested. Stumbled upon this having never heard this song before, what a great song as well as a great method of teaching. A request would be an acoustic version of “Born To Run” acoustic live version by Bruce Springsteen. In particular there’s a version he did in Madison Square Garden himself which is pretty popular.
Always heard "long gone bit of truth" .. which I actually think is a better (not bitter) lyric. Great song, great parallel. Which one's which? Personally, I think the whiskey is his true love.
Thank you so much for this! Could you please do a tutorial of The House That Built Me by Miranda Lambert ? There's many tutorials of the intro of that song but can't find one that shows the picking pattern throughout the song. Thank you so so much in advance!!
Awesome tutorial. One question though, when you're in the second pattern and doing the B minor, it looks like your pinky finger keeps coming off the G string. Am I missing something?
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has this is as a favorite song of all time. I feel it is very underappreciated or unheard by too many people. Awesome tutorial.
Thank you!
By far the best tutorial on TH-cam for this song
Thank you!
Thank you!! Finally someone who could explain and show me the cords of this song. I’ve tried others and it never sounded right. I appreciate you.
Danke!
Brilliant walk through of this great song. You may have singlehandedly prevented me from jumping up and down on my lovely guitar.

Hey! Amazing job, is there a tab link for this song? I noticed the chorus tab wasn’t in video?!
Spot on Brother! Thanks for this! Hope you can find the time to teach us Brother Osborne, Let me love the lonely out of you song.
Good job, Thanks.
thanks dude
Hi Derrick, great video. I have subscribed to your Patreon. I haven’t been able to find the tabs to this song, are they available at all?
Thx for posting.
You're welcome!
Always heard "long gone bit of truth" .. which I actually think is a better (not bitter) lyric. Great song, great parallel. Which one's which? Personally, I think the whiskey is his true love.
You are great man thanks!
Obrigado 🇧🇷
I smashed my guitar
I cooked some really good sausages over the embers of mine lol😊
Great video and tutorial! Did you post the tabs? I cant seem to find them.
People who cannot stretch their pinky that far to replace 10th fret d use 9th fret g they are the same. Figured I’d drop a tip
Not 9th my bad 7th
Damn again I’m dumb 5 fret g string is the same as 10 fret d string
Thanks!
Thank you Derrik..
You're welcome!
Good job!!!!!!!!!
Do you have a link to the full layout of the song in your tabs
Alguien que me pase la afinación de la guitarra por favor.
I needa do some hand stretches lol
Does the long stretch to g after the b minor walk down get easier with time?
It's been a year. Did it get easier?
@@Ruckusnutsyes it did
Thank you so much for this!

Awesome tutorial. One question though, when you're in the second pattern and doing the B minor, it looks like your pinky finger keeps coming off the G string. Am I missing something?
I thought that too. It looks like it but doesn't sound like it lol
On the second pattern it looks like your index finger is on the D string? Isn’t it supposed to be on the G?
Awesome lesson. Error in communicating the chorus. Looks like you're hammering the 4th string not the 3rd, no???
Nice Tutorial! Could you do a tutorial of Jordan Davis's new song, "Church in a chevy"?
That's my favorite one off his new EP, even though I drive a Ford lol.
@@DerrikRockne Amazing lol!
are the tabs somewher?
That’s really fucking good 😂😂
Fair fucks is what we say.
Can you do the Aaron Lewis version of this song?
100%🎸
Why does your guitar look so small?
Great work bro but please tune your guitar hahaha...
What your doing compared to the tabs seem to be different.
My fat short fingers can’t play a bminor
weird... this guy looked like he could sing....
Great job man, Excellent tutorial.
Thanks Earl!
