My parents and I went to Chicago for a weekend last year, and we went to a restaurant called Pizzeria Dué (which was basically an extension of the original Uno’s!). The deep dish pizza there was INCREDIBLE. Every bite was so flavorful ans filled with tomatoes and melted cheese - and it was so damn good that I literally wanted to put it all in a box and take it on the plane home with me! 😂 Honestly, I’d go back to Chicago just for THAT!

Never had NY pizza, but I absolutely adore the Chicago deep dish. I found a bomb recipe and made it in my own cast iron pan and it took me back to my weekend in Chicago as a poor university student on a field trip.
So glad you got the proper Chicago style tavern pizza. That's what we eat 99% of the time. Deep dish is like once a year, usually with the family from out of town who wants the "authentic" experience 😂

I think it’s better to think of it as it’s own thing, kinda like how chicken tikka masala was made by an Indian chef In the UK, most Americans know that Italian American food isn’t the real deal authentic stuff though, Anyway I hope one day I will get to travel to Italy and try the authentic food, greetings to your country😊

Also…A CHICAGO STAPLE IS RICOBENES! The breaded steak sandwich is what Chicago is known for but I love the Chicken Vesuvio! You will NOT be disappointed!!!!!

Yea that pizza pot pie in Lincoln Park is the best 😋. Personally I like Giordano’s over Lou’s. Then there’s Home Run Inn pizza for the tavern style. South side has the best pizza spots. I can’t enjoy pizza outside of Chicago unless it’s in Italy lol.
