  • I head for Loch Leven at Ballachulish , to visit Eilean Munde, (the island of the dead) with my drone. It was a cold but very enjoyable day on the water

    Lovely tree colours Donny, well dome for giving the little engine a good run out, it will be much better for it. We need more islands of discussion in the world today ! Thanks for posting.

      Yup Ashley..its a worrying world we live in if you read the news clips on the internet..Im afraid I just bury my head in the sand..or is it my boats.. so dont follow it all or I would need more than a bugoff shelter next year :-D

    Another great watch, Donny, and thank you for that. Moira Kerr's haunting song was the perfect musical accompaniment to your wonderful video footage.
    Eilean Munde is a "must visit" for me and my SIB next year!

    A fascinating history of the islands. I had never heard of the Isle of Discussion before. I must take a drive up there again, as its been a while. Excellent drone views. Great video.👍👍

      Hi again vermeer, yes I dont think the Isle of discussion is as well know as Eilean Munde..but it is a true account of the island. I never visit it though as its the home of many seagulls and especially during nesting season , they make a terrible racket if I go near :-D

    Good video Donny. I didn't realise there were so many graves on the island. The 3.5hp outboard moved the guppie with no problems. Hope you get the yamaha 6hp sorted. Enjoyed watching. Thanks Steve 👍

      @donnywilcox  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi steve ..nope..I scrapped the 6HP ..it was well worn. 7 years old and used every week including winters so I cant complain..like cars they dont last forever and although I could have kept it going by throwing money at it ..I need a reliable outboard. A 6HP is great for carrying but has a hard life at constant full throttle :-D

    Lovely capture of the gorgeous autumn colours on the Loch, Donny. I love how you seem to have an encyclopaedic knowledge of the history of the places you visit too, very interesting. I am hoping to visit there for a week around the end of April 2024, basing initially at Caolasnacon Campsite with a view to exploring the Loch. Incidentally, what mix ratio do you run your 3.3 on? Thanks for another great video Donny 👍

    • @donnywilcox
      @donnywilcox  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi captain..I use a 50 to 1 ration on the wee mariner..its very small and high reving so I follow the manual recommendation..it seldom oils up. My old 25HP two stroke was 100 to 1 but it was clearly lables that. Hope that helps. It only sups fuel so very economical to run even ast 50 to 1 :-D

    • @captainlandslide9874
      @captainlandslide9874 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ah fair enough, yes i have an old 4hp mariner which I rebuilt from a dead engine and i run that happily on 50:1, I also have a 15hp very similar to your old 25 which I have been running on 75:1 but has a few running issues sometimes (bogging down after a while at 1/3-1/2 throttle, wondering if that should be running 100:1 as maybe the plugs start to foul up? It’s such a low oil mix as I’m used to running glow motors with roughly a 5:1 mix! Just can’t bear the thought of seizing up my 15 on such a low mix 😬😂

      @donnywilcox  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi crf993..yup ..I find the layby launches easy..you can also launch from Glencoe boat club and put a donation in their honesty box. The laybys can be busy during summer season with campervans but are mostly empty now :-D
