If you look around you can find custom firmware to flash to this card. One well known one is known as SCFW. The big feature is it adds SDHC support so you can use 4GB and larger cards. ;) I recommend you have a DS/DS Lite before flashing any custom fw to this as the recovery unbrick tool SC made is only usable on DS/DS Lite consoles. You can't unbrick on of these with just a GBA. ;) SCFW also allows you to use unpatched roms as it auto patches everything itself including some new waitstate patches to help speed up some games that suffer from the slower timings this card has (like Super Mario kart). Using SCFW might also resolve your issue with GBA player on GameCube. Though no one's reported that one before so not sure if it will. Wouldn't hurt to try though! :D
I remember wanting one of these when I was a little kid. They had good reviews at the time. I think they were around $99 once you include the price for a 2gb micro sd card at the time
Nice video! I have one of these myself and I know it has a lot of flaws, but for the price I got it years ago and for my basic and casual use of the GBA I think it's actually fine. I know games like Mario Kart have lots of slowdowns and some other games don't even work (or for them to work you need to disable all patches when putting them through the SuperSD software) but I can't complain that much if I can play my fav games and homebrew just fine. For someone like you it's certainly a bad product as you already discovered by testing it. On a side note, there's a project (on halt at the moment) to make a custom firmware for this cart in order to make it more usable. I'll attach the gbatemp link in another comment because TH-cam doesn't like me posting links.
Welp TH-cam again deleted the link, if you want to find the forum post Google "gbatemp make the supercard suck less 2022", it should be the first option I guess.
@@JGLCSW wasn't able to attach the link, but if you search "scfw gbatemp" you'll find the gbatemp thread with all the info. They now added nes and GBC emulation to the new firmware too!
thank you very much for this review, the gameboy player compatibility is what i had questions about and yeah, it's a deal breaker, cheers for the info o/
I followed the guide but my card doesn't see the folders. if I put the games inside without a folder everything works, if I create a folder it doesn't see it. Am I doing something wrong?
Mine began to malfunction today after 9 years of use. Letters are scrambled and it wont load games. Tried to replace software but it didnt help, sd card seems to be working fine. Wonder what could be the problem :( Was very happy with the card so far!
I have a DS lite and I have one of these. It works. It does stick out like any GBA catridge on a DS lite, but it works. You'll have to curate a list of GBA games tho, as you can't really put everything in here, and at least 40% of the games have problems ranging from slow motion or simply not working at all lol I've got mine a few years ago and the thing works if you are looking to have certain GBA games and not everything. I can play Mother 3, KH Chain of Memories and Castlevanias flawlessly on this, so despite being like cheap $10 shitty catridge, it can be worth it.
My Ez Flash for some reasons stopped working just today and I was planning to bring my GBA for a travel so I bought it just now cuz it was the fastest option to arrive before the departure. As long as it's load games, I'll just stick with it.
Having those all setup is a very deliberate choice. That cabinet is specifically for them! But yes, I have been keeping an eye on the Mister project. I'll likely delve in when the PS1 and N64 cores are a lot more developed.
Just bought one. Would've preferred an EZ-Flash Omega but they seem to be sold out. Anyway, it's not too bad. Most games I've tried run fine except SSF2TR, which plays in slow motion (strangely SFA3 plays just fine).
I bought this product and the games that it loads on the SD do not appear, the same thing that happens to you and that you describe in the final part of the video. I can't find the solution!!!
Weird I got one similar maybe different manufacturer but it works just fine never had issues and I only paid like a dollar for it. I was buying shells for my DS literally and saw it and decided why not it’s cheap as hell.
IF ANYONE IS HAVING TROUBLE WITH WHITE SCREEN ON LOADING A ROM: KEEP THE GBA TURNED ON, REMOVE AND REINSERT CART AND BOOT INTO THE SAME ROM THAT JUST FAILED TO LOAD. literally have to do it every time i load a rom but it works every time.
Even back in the day these were considered cheap low budget $20 gba card options they weren't perfect and had slow-downs in some games, but they were affordable and had big fanbase, I've purchased a more expensive "M3 Perfect" flash card for GBA and it had much better hardware, ran GBA games smoothly but it was about 4x more expensive and used "Compact Flash" card instead of MicroSD.
I’ve had mine for years. The tech was new at the time, so many hoops like formatting games was common. It never worked on the GameCube and remember their website claimed that, so I wouldn’t bother trying other methods. All in all it wasn’t bad for it’s time, but there are better ways to play those games now.
Everything on the card works well, I have tried a handful of games and they work well, the problem is that when I save a game (in whatever way), I turn the console off and on and start the game, the graphics and audio appear corrupted or glitched whatever you want to call it, and the game becomes unplayable, does anyone have the same problem? and how can I solve it?
Doing the hard work so we don't fall into the trap.. My man. I only ever buy the real everdrives. Yeah they're a bit more expensive, but considering what you get to use it for, its cheap really. And they work. I have one for the Mega Drive which also plays Master System and 32x games from the one cart. Triple awesome. Also have one for the Atari Lynx, NES and SNES.. These things are worth their weight in gold. Real hardware. Real ROMS. Good times. Cheers for the video mate.
Does that work with the Dual Slot features in DS games? IE, could I load one of those up with a ROM of Pokemon Emerald, put it into my DS, and transfer Pokemon from Emerald to Diamond that way?
@@polarstriker3854 Everdrives act like a normal cart. It basically takes the rom from the SD card and loads it into its memory. From that point on the real hardware thinks its looking at a real cart of the game. So if what you're saying is possible normally with real carts in real hardware, then it should work with an everdrive. I don't see why anyone would choose this over the EZ flash carts nowadays. Everdrives are great as well but they're pricey (I have everdrive gba, no regrets)
In fact, the supercard team later produced two NDS flash cards, DSONE and DSTWO, which are widely considered to be one of the best NDS flash cards. It is very impressive to see their amazing improvement
I've bought this goddamn thing back in 2020 (Before covid shit), and I must say, it sucks ass. Games will rarely load, instead, all I usually get is a white screen. Tried running it on GBASP and DSLite. It worked best with the latter one
actually with the TWiLightMenu i was able to run every gba games that i tested including pokemon emerald. You just cant run rom hacks sadly. I will probably soon upgrade to a new 3ds xl so problem solved
A bit late to this comment but anyways. Pokémon Emerald runs just fine, loads up and even saves. The only things I ran into were missing RTC features and that on each start the game for some reason says the save file is corrupted but it isn't. This cart isn't that bad but EZ Flash omega is just way better.

Dude, you have made the GB and NES rom copying needlessly complicated. You only need to copy one/any .sav file and rename it exactly (copy-paste) with the game (NES or GB) name. For example if you have a ROM called Videogames1(US).gb you copy a .sav file and rename it as Videogame1(US).sav, then you copy both to the same folder on the microSD. I keep a .sav file as a template. You of course have to do this for every game. Careful with the maximum limit of 64 roms per folder for the Supercard, you will need to create multiple folders
Got this today. It sucks ass. Only game I've been able to get to save and reload from a save is wario land 3. Do not get this if you are hoping to play pokemon, as the saving functions don't work. This will be going into the wasted money drawer.
