Brown Eyed Girls is considered the first girl group of the Second Gen. (They debuted one year before SNSD, Kara and Wonder Girls, the trilogy of girl groups that debuted in 2007). Gain was especially popular, considered THE sex symbol of her time. She also appeared in Psy (of Gangnam Style fame) Gentleman mv (which he used the iconic dance from Abracadabra for the mv). Btw, if you want to see a very funny mv, watch Warm Hole (and yes, it's what you think its about.)

yeah, beg is super popular within queer spaces. they've done a lot of collaborations with queer creators, especially in the mv wonder woman, which was done in collaboration with neon milk (an lgbtq group/collective)!

[Oh my goodness, this is so long. Apologies in advance]
I also like that they debuted a little later and weren’t all teens at debut. I remember Kahi (the leader of After School) and JeA (the leader of Brown Eyed Girls) were both mentors/judges on a season of Produce. Another judge was telling a 25ish yr old (iirc) trainee that this might be their last chance to debut as an idol because they’re getting too old. Kahi said, “I debut at 28” and JeA was like “Yeah, I debuted at 25. What do you mean?!”
It’s interesting (as a K-pop fan since second gen) that you mention that some of their great mvs don’t have a lot of views. It’s true, but back then there weren’t entire campaigns trying to get a mv to x number of views. Plus, the pool of people watching Kpop vids on youtube was smaller. Idols promoted on music shows longer than today. Personally, I watched multiple music show performances each week more than re-watching Kpop mvs then.
I remember how big of a hit “Abracadabra” was but I don’t remember nearly anything about the storyline. It was a hit from the song itself and the catchy dance. The dance scenes were memorable and music show performances, but I don’t think the story made as much of an impact, except when it looked like they might kiss at the end. The same with “Sign.” It was remembered more for it’s fan choreography than MV.
If you continue with older 2pm content on patreon and watch “Wild Bunny” you’ll see 2PM and 2AM spend an entire episode (maybe more?) making an “Abracadabra” parody song and video.
Yes, every time you asked “Is this Narsha?” you were correct. I know you’re comparing her with different hair and makeup and over a decade of time. Plus, Narsha has been very honest about having plastic surgery procedures, so she WILL look different. BEG even made a parody of Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” called “Plastic Face” on SNL. They joke about how so many people have plastic surgery and how, in some cases, you can’t even tell, so it’s ridiculous to ridicule them.
The song you love at the beginning of the “Kill Bill” mv is actually a cover. The song is “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)” from 1966. It’s used in the film Kill Bill and JeA covered it as an homage. It’s never been officially released to my knowledge, unfortunately.
Gain’s sparkly look in the “Brave New World” was body painting. I remember they were on Weekly Idol to promote the album and JeA had to freestyle rap. She ended with the line “Gain’s BODY PAINTING!!!” It was so random, but that’s how I know that it wasn’t a jumpsuit of some kind.

Here comes a big comments hahaha
BEG really likes the sexy concept, once in Weekly idol they played a cute song and asked them to dance, Gain started to do a sexy dance. They don't have problems with being sexy, maybe cuz they're old enought for it. Narsha solo "Mamma Mia" there is a real kiss, not just lips touching, but with tongue and everything. Their solo stuff are gold.
Abracadabra's storyline you need to pay atteention to small details to understanding it.
So, The MV start with Narsha after slept with the guy and tied him.
Then, we go back to the past and see Gain with the same guy. Miryo is a detective who was contracted by Narsha (See all the TVs behind her, they showing scenes), Miryo tells Narsha about Gain and the Guy. Narsha can't believe what she heard then she's walking with a confuse face and then she pass by JeA and the dog.
Then Narsha decides to get revenge and kill Gain and the guy. She slept with the guy so she could kill him after it.
After it she will kill Gain. How? With the help of JeA. There a quick scene of JeA's dog dead, by its side there are some heart shaped candies, there is poison in it, the dog died because of it. So in the end when Narsha will kiss Gain, actually, she will give her the poisoned candy through the kiss.
There are some scene with JeA and Narsha dancing and singing behind bars, so looks like they were jailed after kill them.
So the question is: Narsha killed the guy because she loved him, or because she loved Gain? hahaha

Great timing: Narsha is set to release a new solo album, her first in 13 years. Sadly the group is not likely to ever have a full comeback as Gain (the lead singer) was caught up in a drug scandal a few years ago (propofol) and Koreans are very negative as far as scandal, particularly drug scandals.
