I have a Flax dress that has a small hole from my dog’s toenail. Best dog ever…she’s been gone for seven years and I still wear that dress. And I bought it used twenty years ago. Loving the imperfections and creatively mending.
I'm sure you have discovered a lot of these by now, but it's worth a review of videos on seam finishes to take your sewing up a notch, if you don't have an overlocker (serger). I sewed for almost 30 years before I bought a serger. Evelyn Wood has a good video, as does Enchanted Rose Costumes.
I've been sewing for about ten years but only ever made costumes for nerdy conventions - you've totally inspired me to take the dive into clothes that will actually fit into my everyday wardrobe. I made my first project yesterday, a pair of overalls - and they turned out so well. Thanks for sharing your journey with us, it's a pleasure and an inspiration to watch!! (Also my fav is totally the two tone Nikko turtleneck! ✨)
Thank you so much for sharing this Kristy! So impressive that you made overalls as a first everyday garment - it’s so cool when our hobbies and skills develop over time
I would really value some links to the patterns ( knitting too) and also wool supplier as for some reason can’t find the sources I love your approach. I once came home from a holiday with my four kids only to find there had been a leak in the airing cupboard and everything had weird moms growing on it. I had to find stuff around the house for bedding etc for the first night. I did boil everything I could and reused bits , and my adult sewing journey restarted. That was the summer of 1993. And I’ve been sewing, mending, making and remaking ever since. So just love your ethics. We are about to build our own house ! So new adventures ahead.
Omg when you said "a big beautiful baby and I love that for me," I feel like I identified so hard with that haha thank you for sharing all your lovely makes!
You are adorable, your style is so easy going and comfy. Don't see myself as sewing or knitting though I have tried both in the past. My favorites were the black dress, wool pants, and the pop corn sweater. The sweater looked lovely on you. You should wear it with a white blouse underneath hanging out a little bit at top and bottom. You are so pretty loved your hair cut and jewelry. Thanks for a great video!
I just found you today. Your channel came into my feed, because I am a knitter. Really, I consider myself a fiber artist, because I dabble in all things fiber. I am so inspired to start sewing again! I want to find my style. I used to sew children’s clothing and accessories, which are much easier to sew fit wise. Off the rack clothing doesn’t usually fit me. I’m a very curvy size. My waist is two sizes smaller that my hips, my shoulders are more petite than my arm length, I am busty, etc. I’ve never had luck with big pattern manufacturers. I wonder if you can recommend other pattern companies I might try. To close, I’m in love with your podcast! I’ll be binge watching for sure.
Uhh I love all your makes! I love the orchard dresses, the ilford jacket and the orange sweater! And I just want to live in overalls so your number 1 is perfect. I made the heyday overalls this year and been wearing them every week aswell.
@@MakingCassie it actually started with a basic vest from a magazine, then when I finished the body I realized I had a ton of yarn left and I just improvised on the sleeves. Let's see where that leads me 😂
I love your makes! I think I'm going to have to follow your Nikko hack and make myself an Ilford now. 🙈 I hope you have a happy New Year, I can't wait to see what you make in 2022!
You must be my long lost daughter! If you saw my wardrobe you would know what I mean. I sew and knit and thrift! I have been inspired by you to knit more. The style of your wardrobe is beautifully classic, Ageless!
I love your Jenny overalls. I have a pair i want to make #yantaoveralls but need to make time as they'll be a huge project for me. Your wardrobe is inspirational.
This might be a bit strange to comment (feel free to delete this comment if this doesn't apply), but I realized at 04:19 that your right arm pit seems to have a little bump. This can totally just be a video artefact, but if its there in real life too you should ask a GP or family doc to check it out (I am a doctor). Could totally be nothing, but its good to be on the safe side. I enjoyed the video a lot!
The way you filmed, you can't actually see the garments. You hold up the top, then pan down a photo, but we never see them in their entirety... definitely want to see the whole garment at once.
Thanks so much for watching! I want to know: which one is your favourite?
Jenny Overalls!! I'm inspired to make me some🤩
Your big baby white gauge dress is my fav. I don't know how to make those collars.
I love the way you embrace the imperfections of each item and that it gives you joy!!

Number 6 is PERFECTION! I love the colour and the design. 😍

Why do you sew a tag into your clothes? I always leave out the tag.
I've just started watching your videos and enjoying the content but this one has an ad in the middle... aren't you supposed to declare that?
This was my first sponsorship so I didn’t really know what I was doing at the time truthfully! I’ve learned since ☺️
@@MakingCassie Ah ok! Sorry didn't mean to be nit picky. Just not a big fan of ads but I understand everyone has to make cash.

I had a limited filming set up at the time but my more recent videos show everything quite well!
