Thanks Mary. So many of us on a similar "hair journey." I don't purchase conditioner anymore; just hair masks (that I use in the conditioner step). I also do my final rinse with cold water. I mix Kerastase hair oil into whatever styling products I'm using. Finally, I've transitioned to safer salon color (Davines) and touch-ups (Phyto). I can tell the difference but I'm still not "there" yet. I can't believe what I have to do just to try to return to pre-menopausal hair.
I love you & your hair information! So informative. I’m so into my hair so I loved hearing about your hair & the products & Abbey Yung too. My sister is going thru menopause & is having hair issues also so I am sharing this with her. I liked & subscribed & I am going to watch more of your videos. Thank you for a great channel. ❤
Mary, I really appreciate this video- it’s hard to listen to someone who has dense thick hair giving advice about hair. But, this is so hopeful. Thank you for sharing your hair struggles, I deal with thinning hair and even balding around my face (and I’m only in my 30’s 🤕) but now I want to look in all the products you’re using. Also, I was laughing so hard- your Gary and my husband could be best friends (H&S all the way 😅)
go lighter & highlighter for the win! from roots every 2 months to highlights every 4 months. it's so much easier, less expensive & less damaging. Also simple scissor cute, not razor cuts, it's very fraying and made my hair flat, thin & lacking in volume. love the OGX Coconut oil & L'Oreal glossing set, it brings back shine. K18 works, but it does require finessing. also, check out Abbey Yung, she's a trichologist with lots of info, scoence & practical tips
Awesome video Mary! Thanks so much for creating. I experience almost all of the challenges you are experiencing and your video is providing lots of options to try out. I plan to replay many times and make a list of questions to ask you (lol) . . . hope you don't mind 🙂 Talk soon!
🍷Your hair always looks flawless! Now we know why....I'm so glad you have found things that work so well for you! 😍 (I have sort of given up...I've tried so many things... Just can't be arsed so it's up in a ponytail or clip for me 🙄🤣)
🍷🍷🎉 Thank you for all the great info! I've been considering light therapy for my rapidly thinning perimenopausal hair issues. Your hair looks fantastic, so clearly all this hard work is paying off 🙌 I have one thing to add that I saw on a hairdresser's video- to reduce breakage, don't wash hair in circular motions- only gentle up and down and/or side to side. I'm sure you know this, but hair is most sensitive to breakage and damage when wet. This was a good reminder for me because I didn't even realize I was doing this until I saw their video! I'm excited to check out your other videos- your skin is incredible!
Love this! My routine is similar to yours. However, I don't use oil on damp hair. I might need to try that. So the straightener you use, also dries the hair??
🍷🍷"clink" 🤩 I still love Prose. I now use their oral supplements for root and scalp health too. I use their pre shampoo mask, shampoo and conditioner, post shower conditioner, and wavy hair cream. They formulate it for my hard water and color treated, menopausal hair, but I've been thinking about getting a filter. You have a serious hair routine there Mary dear! 😘
Mary, I really enjoy your videos, thank you ❤. You are the whole package. Your entertaining, a joy to watch and your information is so valuable. Thank you for all your hard work and trying all the fun products. I have been watching your videos for 5 years and your videos get better and better! Thank you Mary, Love from California P.S. K18 and hair oils have really helped my hair.🍷🍷🍷
@@SkinObsessedMaryH shampoo, L’Oréal metal detox and epres pre spray, can’t wait my hair is straw too! Will let you know! Keep up w the awesome info yall are so cute!
Good catch! The instructions do say to leave it in but I can't stand not using conditioner (my hair is just too brittle) and I K18 have said it's ok to apply conditioner once the 4 minutes are up, so that's what I do (and then rinse). It's probably not ideal, but is better than nothing I hope 🤞
Thank you for this video! I have been waiting:) I have the same issues. I woke up one day and my hair felt like straw. I have a couple questions. I color my hair every month to cover the gray. You said your hair stylist modified the type of color you guys use. Could you share what they are using? I was also wondering how you dry your hair. Do you still use the zuvi halo dryer? Or something different? Thank you so much! I LOVE all of your videos!! You and Gary are too cute.
Hi Mary (and Gary)! I can so relate to menopausal hair. I too woke up one morning, looked in the mirror and said WTF! Anyway, I love your routine. It's actually almost similar to mine. However I can't seem to wait the entire 10 minutes for the LP bond repair to work before adding other products. If I wait that long my hair is already about 90% dry and frizzy. I have to tackle it with products when it's still damp and starting using my hair dryer right away with a round brush to try and combat the frizz before it's too late. Do you wait the full 10 mins before adding your heat protectant?
I struggle with that LP wait time as well. After 10 minutes, my hair is bone dry and resistant to any styling I try to do. Wetting my hair after the 10 minute wait doesn't result in a nice style either. 😞
I wouldn't bother waiting either, if I didn't have the time or if my hair dried too quickly. Just throw it all in and go! I apply everything after 10 min but that's because my hair is still wet. Otherwise, I wouldn't wait.
Great video and information. Boy can I relate. I’m interested in the CurrentBody growth “helmet”. The instructions read use daily on clean, dry hair, no product. How in the world would this work? Not to mention it’s a no-no to wash your hair everyday. How would you style? Thanks so much!
Nah, I use it on my seriously not-clean hair every day. I didn't even read that in the instructions until months after using it. It's quite possible that the products I use block some of the light but I've seen the evidence (growth) so I don't bother too much. As for non-wash days, I wash and style my bangs/fringe every day, so at least that part looks fresh. Because they're short I don't worry too much about daily heat. On those day I wear my hair up in clips, ponytails, I do heatless curls at night, braids, you pig tails...you name it, I'm trying it!
Thanks Mary! Your hair looks fantastic. How often do you get it colored now? Amazing the GHD doesn’t damage hair. I thought you would mention the Zuvi dryer. I think they were purchased by L’Oréal. I almost purchased a Zuvi but waiting for an LED hair drying/styling tool in one.
I get it coloured every 8 weeks now. And it's generally only the roots. It's funny...I was only noticing as we were editing this video that my hair looks quite brassy/orange at some of the ends - wonder if I need to do something about THAT! As for the zuvi, I DO love it. But I can't style my hair with it. So I use it every day to dry my bangs (I still wash and style those every day) but I use the GHD Duet every wash day now because it dries and and styles it straight. It's been a game-changer.
@ I think your color looks great. Wouldn’t a zuvi/GED hair dryer be amazing? 😀 menopausal hair is the pits-mine isn’t too bad thanks to numerous bond restore products and oils but the outer layer definitely doesn’t lay as flat and is generally less glossy than it once was. Thanks for the tips! If you had to choose between GHD and Zuvi which would you choose?
Good Morning Mary and Gary. lol. It’s been pouring down here in SE. Ok. Love it. You have an amazing hair care routine. When you mentioned the Coconut oil in a previous video several mo ago, I finally found it and have been using it on my almost to my waist length hair and it has transformed my hair. Anddd it isn’t falling out like it was. Pretty much zero fall out. Plus I’ve been using L’Oréal Revive Bond Shampoo and purple conditioner. I’ve got to try Haielle Hair products, but whew they are pricey. But would be so worth it if it works and smells great. I love a strong nice scent in my shampoos, but if not, it’s ok. Why don’t you go natural? You would Rock Silver Hair Mary. 🙃🤷🏼♀️. I’ve only colored my hair once probably 25 plus years ago. My ex husband wanted to see what I would look like as a brunette, sooo he goes out and buys a at home hair color ( remember Iam a natural blonde, I’m talking white). It was a disaster, had to go to a hair stylist and get it taken out. I to am not one to curl and or style my hair, other than drying it out straight and smooth. You looked great with your natural hair color ( you look adorable with it as is now) too. As blonde as I am, my underneath is White and so soft like a bunny 🐇. lol. Anyhoo, I want to also try the first Pre Tx you used. I will never cut my hair and will never wear bangs again. This is the first time in my entire life I’ve not had bangs and my hair grows sooo sooo fast. I wash my hair in the kitchen sink, as when I do wash it, I do lose a a lot of hair( not like I use to) always enjoy your videos and always learning about great products I’d never heard of. You and Gary have a great Sunday. 😊 oh, Pampered Wolf swears by the L’Oréal Metal Detox Tx’s products. A holy grail of hers. She to have very very fine hair that grows slowly.
Gemma is where I heard of the Metal Detox and I'm looking forward to trying it! As for going grey, there's not enough grey...probably only 30%. Just enough to look awful 🤣
Love this! Not too much, in my opinion☺ I have post menopausal hair and skin, and wonder where did all my oils go?😅 I’d love to try the Calecim, just so pricey. I use the older I restore laser cap, but lately it seems to be running hotter.
Do you ever use a purple shampoo? My hairdresser has recommended that I do this. In fairness it was me who told her I thought my hair colour was turning brassy not the hairdresser’s idea!
