  • We have been really keen to get some wind deflectors fitted to our new Volkswagen California T6.1 to help give us a bit of venting at night and to allow us to have the windows open more when driving.
    We had them on our old T6 California Ocean so we were keen to have them again.
    We have used the genuine OEM Volkswagen ones
    Part Number: ZGB7H0072195
    These are the stick-on the door type, not the ones that fit in the window channels. We tried some of those before and didn’t get on too well with them as the windows kept bouncing back down.
    We bought these from here: bit.ly/3nLxUep
    BUT... we think that VW have started to change their design to a type that goes into the window channel. We hunted these stick-on ones down, so hopefully they will still have stock if you want the exact same ones.
    Keep a look out for our other new videos coming to the channel soon and a BIG thank you to all of our wonderful subscribers. We can’t wait to share more content with you over the coming months.
    Take care, sit back and grab yourself some California Time !

    First weekend out in Eunice and Franklin so windows stayed shut. Cosy and humid.
    Now fitted the wind deflectors, straightforward with the help of your video. Many thanks.

    I've finally managed to get my hands on some wind deflectors as per your video. I've fitted them this week and am very happy with them. Your video was invaluable in sourcing the correct part and making sure I could fit them successfully myself. Thank you so much.

    I had these fitted by the dealer when I bought my Ocean, I find them a great addition. Only issue I had was the front edge closest to the mirror came loose, but a drop of clear silicon secured it back in place. Thanks for the vid👍

    Went to buy from the same retailer, turns out they’re just up the road from me! They have a cracking array of bits and bobs (can also source the important second under bench drawer 😉) thanks for vid, will use when fitting mine

    I must admit I was skeptical as you started your „yet another California“ channel, but having watched your videos I found them great, precise, instructional and useful, owning a T6 Cali myself. Please keep your 100% truth, factual style, congrats on the good job done and looking forward to your future videos.

    Hi Will, I bought these based on your video but I’m yet to fit as it’s a bit cold and the instructions state 20 degrees plus. One question, in all your latest video’s your Cali doesn’t have them fitted? Have you removed them or were the video’s filmed prior to fitting? Thanks David

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well unless they’ve fallen off they’re certainly still fitted ! (joking, they are still on there, I promise). Odd if it doesn’t look like they are on in the videos, as they have been there ever since fitting. You can use a hairdryer to warm up the bodywork and the deflectors if you want to fit in cooler weather 👍

    Looking to replace my Heko's Will. Not for the bouncing issue, that you describe, but because the passenger one continues to slip occasionally, despite me adding some additional clips (Making 4 per side). Have previously resisted the stick-on type, as I thought they would eventually come unstuck. Have you had an issues with them lifting at all (A few comments below suggested that lift had occurred on the mirror surround? ) Just curious how they are after a few months of use (Especially around the plastic mirror surround), as I think I am going to have to seek an alternative to the Heko's if they continue to slip down. Thanks in advance.

    • @CampervanTime

    Considering buying these. Do you find that now you’ve installed the wind deflectors, you get less water dripping from the roof channel onto the door top (and controls) when opening the windows after rain? It looks like this should be the case. Also, do you get any increased wind noise whilst travelling?

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes less dripping on the door as the direct the downpour a little further away from the window. Not a total solution but better. No increased wind noise is noticeable either so win-win!

      They’re fitted now , and look good, even on the white door frame. The piece that sticks to the mirror housing didn’t want to adhere so easily, but I used an Irwin Quick Clamp (rubber grips) and left it clamped up for an hour, and they appear to be stuck now. A small air gap remained where the foam filler strip is, but I used a spot of clear silicone sealant to fill this gap - in case there is noise when at speed. I’ll wait a few more hours to make sure the adhesive has properly set, and then do a test run.

    Hi Will and Sarah. Sorry to hear about Lucy. It’s so sad when a pup dies ☹️
    I picked up my new Cali Ocean on Saturday almost a year after I ordered it. I was just reviewing this video before fitting these wind deflectors but then wondered will it still be possible to use the Rainbow Screens windscreen cover that I purchased with them in place? Do you use a Rainbow Screens cover with them?
    Hope things cheer up for you soon
    All the best
    Jim

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jim ❤️. Congratulations on picking up your new Cali! We don’t use a rainbow screens cover but we do use the comfortz version of the same thing from campervanbits and it works and fits just fine. I am sure you will be ok but it might be worth fitting the screen cover without the wind deflectors fitted first and seeing how much play/slack there is at the top of the doors where the wind deflectors go - just to make sure before you stick them on. I suspect everything will work just fine on the rainbow screens version too.

    Hi, we were thinking about getting these and fitting to our Coast but we have the comfortz windscreen cover. I noticed from another comment you have the same cover. Do you find that the fit is ok and do you still get some airflow through overnight if you leave the window open with the cover on? Thanks.

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and yes! Fits just fine and yes you can get a bit of airflow although we tend to use our roof windows for that rather than the front windows 👍

      @@CampervanTime thanks for the super quick response. We've got an external cover for the pop top so get minimal ventilation even with the windows open. Was hoping that these would just let that little bit of extra air through especially as there's 4 of us in our van. x
