I thought about the Adept shade at round 4. Not exactly exactly like Blink or Shadow Strike, but they aren't all instant, so they do share the one one specific commonality
It was tricky. It even says "teleport" in the Psionic Transfer ability description, lol. But I guess it is not quite the same thing. I got lucky with this one.
39:35 Isn't that Comsat station from Starcraft 1? Also, the Marine AND the Dark Templar were both from Starcraft 1. I don't think that's fair. EDIT The Observer was also from Starcraft 1. Starcraft 2 Observer doesn't have Adria in its voice lines. The whole 4th round was scuffed.
omg THAT'S why I knew them! I thought that was so incredibly easy that I couldn't understand how the pros didn't know them. I knew the "sensor tower" was BW Comsat, but I figured Blizzard just recycled the audio, lol.
I knew it was an Observer line and was trying to rack my brain if I knew the reference - I haven't played the Diablo games so I came up empty. Ah, someone else in the comments mentioned the Arbiter from Brood War has a similar line
I don't know the sc2 sounds well. since I played it nowhere near as much as sc1, but the static on the observer is very distinctive, so I would have by chance guessed it. With the sensor tower sound I also immediately thought: comsat station
Exactly, I knew where it was from, but it was pretty obvious that is was likely in SC2 as one of those voice lines you only get from repeated clicks. But which unit..., no clue. Good idea to put it on the Observer.
the first sound was actually the sound of the SC1 marine. it is bizarre how no one guessed it correctly, but even more bizarre that it was there in the first place.
40:10 I was SO confused when I heard Diablo 1 - Adria's voice line. "I sense a soul in search of answers." I was kind of listening to this in a background and it immediately unlocked a core memory. Fun Fact: It is the voice line that Adria, the Witch says to players when you access her shop interface in the original Diablo. It's an exact rip, just with added affects.
The marine, the dark templar and the observer were all sounds from SC1/Brood War, right? Am I crazy? And the sensor tower sounded like uhhhh comsat station from Brood War? That whole round was fake news, Hamster, I'm onto you!
Interesting how you used sc1 sounds for all of the sounds in the sound round. I'm not super sure on the ultra but the others are definitely all from sc1, though some of the lines are the same.
I was so pleased with how well i was guessing along, and then hamster busts out the tournaments... and that last quote was so evil, i remembered that that is a quote from something else that a unit says, and thought it was an oracle quote due to the female voice, and the thematic fit. And it is from something else "I sense a soul in search of answers" is a Diablo quote, and the arbiter says"We sense a soul in search of answers", which is why i thought it had to be a unit i knew. Like holy hell thats a curveball
Anyone else speak Spanish and notice that the dark templar sound at @37:00 sounds like "de la oscuridad" meaning from the darkness (don't they normally say from the shadows in english?)
I love how based on the title alone, TH-cam immediately felt the need to reassure us the Apollo space program was real by adding a context blurb for it 😂
I'm really confused? All those sounds were from Brood War. The sounds don't even match properly, the SC2 "Sensor Tower" sound was actually the sound of an SC1 "Control Tower", which was an addon to the Terran Starport. Fun games but how the heck did Hamster or the contestants not catch this?
The first round reminded me of playing D&D. You make a nice simple puzzle for your players to solve, but when they get there, instead of solving it in five seconds like you expected, all their brains turn to sawdust.
Funny detail about the last sound... The actual spoken line belongs to Adria the Witch from Diablo 1. Its electronically distorted version is repeated-select-sound of Observer since 1998 😀
I guess, Rotterdam was absolutely right about ingame sounds of scan, because this is the sound of the orbital station from first StarCraft as well. And may be I am wrong, but marine’s and dark templar’s sounds are from StarCraft 1 too…
25:13 -- the actually "weird" (but not really) part about Harstem thinking of MarineLord instead of Lilbow "for some reason" : 1) They were both born in June 1995 2) They actually kind of look VERY similar, facially 3) Both have Latin-y surnames, not very "French-sounding" .
@narazil4691 Well yes, I did, and that certainly helps. But considering these guys sometimes have trouble picking out lines from SC2 it just kinda tells me they focus on very different parts of the game to be good at than I do.
Because this video had "doubts the moon landing" in the title, youtube included "additional context" in which it said that the moon landings were real 😂. Thanks for the video, very entertaining, please keep it this series going!

Hey Hamstem, it is posibble that this sounds are from starcraft 1 also? I was playing that lot, I am not playing SC2 and I was aware and guess of all sounds :O

the observer sound didnt just hear communication from a different species but even from another game, it was the line when you start talking to adria in diablo 1 ;)
Is it worth to mention that Comsat Station addon scannig action from SC1 command center, shares the same sound with the Sensor Tower on SC2 just with a small pitch change.
i think the observer also does the og Orc grunt bothered sound STOP POKING MEEEEE when you bother it since it's whole thing is it listens to other comms
It's actually not is SC2, but only in SC1. The marine and DT lines were also from SC1, and even the sensor tower was just plain wrong because it doesn't make that noise. That was the scan sound from the SC1 comm sat station addon to the command center
@@siegeking9949 yeah my first thought was comm sat station as well, but I believed him, that the sensor tower reused the sound. I haven't played enough sc2 to notice the marine and dark templar don't use those voice lines anymore. Still weird, that they didn't immediately get it.

Me too. Also, Strategic Recall and Tactical Jump also aren't instant. I think that was once again a case of Hamster forgetting an answer.
i think the shade definitely should also qualify here
I was thinking Warp Gate but admittedly it is a bit out of the box
Even worse, there's also viper's Abduct.

I have a sneaky feeling that Kevin will win this game.
A bold prediction. I'm going the other way - I think Kevin will take it down.
