I did this job as a preventative maintenance (water pump amd the pulleys) when I was replacing my AC compressor. Seeing you (and other youtubers) struggle with the bolt, I would like to make a suggestion. If you remove the bolts that hold down the 2 AC lines (low pressure and high pressure), the lines now can be moved and that gives you room to remove that bolt much easier.
Good call, Joshua!
Thank you for share
I'm at 3 hours on that damn bolt. Still can't get it out. I wish I understood the easy way of it
@bendooley5639 do you know the AC lines? The aluminum pipes that prevent you from removing the bolt? Trace those pipes to the front of the car. They are hold down by a bracket and bolt. Remove that bracket, which allows some bending of the AC pipes. This gives you room to get the long bolt out.
bruhhhhh i saw this afterround 3 i won but yes keypiece of info joshuabrowniepoints
In honor of you saying 14x “more easier” I watched the video 14x... good video!
Thank you, took me three hours watching this video!
Thank you brother
You saved my day !!!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ my husband is going to LOVE this repair plus a thermostat.
At 2:45, the cute little girl was thinking "Daddy is talking to himself again..." :) Thanks for sharing.
THIS HELPED ME SO MUCH ON MY FIRST ONE, THANK YOU
Your welcome! Glad the video was helpful
Thanks your video help alot changing the thermostat
Thanks so much for this video!
Just seen a video you posted 8 months ago on a 03 Honda Civic, and mine keeps overheating then going back to normal back and forth and at times will blow cold air, pushing gas doesn’t make it go warm it’s usually when it cools. But it has stayed warm when it was overheating, and also has stayed cold when it was at regular temperature.
great video! .... I would say if you are stretched for cash maybe think about reusing idler, tensioner, thermostat & belt, although this is really too much work not to replace them all
Excellent explanation with video
Very helpful video and saved us tons of money! Got a water pump set from Autozone. 1st time changing a water pump. Both o-rings were wrong, definitely won’t be using autozone again. Was having a hard time finding the small o-ring. finally found one at Harbor Freight using the Metric O-ring. Can you start up the van without a pressure test?
Well done!
Never seen a Toyota needing a water pump so soon.
2015 here and only 140,000 & same issues. My 2004 suburban is hardier then this POS. Glad we are fixing and trading cuz I'm done
Hi,
Where we should put Jack to lift motor up?
Thank you.
I'm doing one with 75k toyota ain't what they used to be
great and timely video for me. Your style of explaining is very precise. But please! do not use the phrase, " they usually last longer". An early change is the best change
Good mecanic
Jabo, I had the same issue with the pump vanes. Did you notice any negative side effects with them being stuck in the motor after the fix?
Will this work for 2017 Toyota Sienna?
Hey I seen your Cadillac video what area do you work in ? I’m having a problem with my Cts 2006 FLORIDA
You mention that this vehicle was dry, but if it was not, would you drain the radiator or just let it drain when the pump comes out?
Wont the two missing blades inside the system just chew up the blades in the new pump?
Hello Uncle Jabo How are you How are you Aunt Mary How is Sofia and Peny tell Peny that her cousin sends her congratulations on her birthday and that she turns many years and has a great time
fight is wit the pulley n braket n im still not finished after 9hrs. i did not jak up the engine. stil hav to do coolant flush
from wat ive seen n herd that new pump u hav is no good. ther is a new n improved one
Had both a tundra and a sienna have the water pump go right at 100k...it's a problem
I saw your car at fashion valley
Now I know what men feel like who find themselves watching a make up tutorial. This was oddly easy to watch. I almost felt like changing out my own water pump. Almost.
Edit: my husband ended up doing this for us. It's a ROYAL pain in the ass but the pump is in and we are still married lol. The pump plus gasket was around $133. New serpentine belt $44. My mechanic said the labor was going to cost 5.5 hours minimum. It took us closer to 8 spread between Saturday and Sunday. That includes meal breaks.
Maintain that fire alarm
👍
Doing this tomorrow wish me luck
How’d it go?
My water pump went out at 105,000 on my 2015 sienna
My water pump doesn’t have the screw on it
Hi. How much torque did you put on the bolts on water pump? Or I nest need to tighten them enough since the gasket is metal thanks
Great video, one question, did you have to unbolt the engine mounts in the bottom to lift up the motor at 57:53 minute mark?
No I did not
@@JaboTheMechanic you mentioned you lifted up the engine, how did you do that? Steps pls.
Unbolt the engine mount. U don't have to take it out. If u do what he did then you're literally tearing the motor mount apart. It will fail prematurely.
Freakin vans r so tight to fix.
Random question.. before the time the water pump started leaking, did it make any type of noises?
Mine is making almost like a whirling almost grinding bad pump noise if that helps.
Good question. I was also in need of this answer. Thank you.
Mine was making a rattling sound and my husband thought it was a pulley. Guess not bc today my pump is out and 🤬
Grrrrrrr noise
THEN AFTER TO HOURS THE BRAKET IS OUT
How long do you would you expect this to take for a reasonably competent backyard mechanic with the correct tools on hand? 2-3 hours?
Yes 2-3hrs
@@JaboTheMechanic you should have clarified that the 2-3 hours was to get the lower mount bolt out 😄🙄😬😭
👍👍👍👍🌹
How in the F can you work in somewhere with a smoke detector chirpping with a low battery. That chirp would drive anyone with anything but The tiniest brain crazy.
That's silicone.... not locktite
Smoke detector chirping .. replace battery …
My 2014 sienna water pump went out at 94k miles 🤦♂️
I know. Not that bad to replace though
Anybody know that small oring part number? It be a huge help. I’m having trouble locating it. Thanks.
