HEIM - Vestmannaeyjar

Heimaey, the home of my good friend Silla. Together we created this ode to 'Home' or 'Heim' in Icelandic. Silla doesn't live on the island these days but still calls it home as her family, friends and memories live there. While exploring the island visually, Silla explores the concept and meaning of the word Heim to her in words.
Heimaey is part of the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago located just of the south coast of Iceland.

As a Swiss, coming from a landlocked country, islands are mesmerising to me.
I was lucky enough to visit Iceland as a teenager in 1993 and since then have been longing to go back...but Vestermannaeyjar fascinates me more even than mainland Iceland.
I am hoping to visit your beautiful island sometime soon, when all this madness is over.
The language is very different from my German dialect, but some words are the same like Heim.

Yeah the island is definitely different from the mainland, I feel the people there are really connected. Hope to go back there soon, it's been a while. But also love to explore Switzerland more, soon hopefully..
