Well done on producing an excellent review video. I haven't seen any of your videos before but have now subscribed! I like the look of this backpack, it looks like another well thought out and made bag from Lowepro.🍀👍
Thanks for the kind words, Andy - appreciated :) And thanks for subscribing. There are more videos in the pipeline and I'm always open to suggestions and requests, if there's anything you'd like to see covered.
Great video! Really detailed review with great photography and views of the bag. I wish more people did videos like this! I went with the 350 bag for my Sony A7 series kit.
You're very welcome, Nicolaas. Thanks for taking the time to watch :) The bag really isn't too big, in my opinion - but all things are relative. If in doubt about the overall size, perhaps check out the dimensions on Lowepro's website and make a mock-up using a cardboard box? I've done this in the past, pre-purchase, and it's helped make my mind up.
hi. good review. can you tell if the camera compartment is detachable from the rest of the backpack? Or can it be opened in some way so we can have full acces to the backpack interior from the top compartment? thanks.
Hi Giles. Thanks for the great review. I wanted to ask. I have the below lenses and wanted to ask your opinion of if you thought the would fit in the 350 version: 1. 14-24mm 2. 105mm 3. 24-120 4. 55mm Thanks again
Hi Keaton - and thanks for the kind words 👍🏻 I've not taken a close look at the 350 version - but according to Lowepro, there's room in the photo compartment for a 5D MKIII-sized camera with lens attached plus 1 or 2 other lenses. On that basis, I'd have to hazard a guess and say no... However, if those lenses were to fit in, I'd expect it would be a pretty snug fit. That's not to say it wouldn't be possible... but I'd have to see it to say for sure. Hope this helps!
Hi there! Great review. Thanks! Do you think there's enough space for a dslr equipment (dslr+2lenses), a small drone (mavic pro) and a 13" laptop? Also I'am thinking in the pro tactic 450... I'll use It to travel (hiking&city and maybe sometimes for mountain). I don't really know which will be the best choice... Thank you!
Hi Carlos, Thanks for the kind words! Myself, I can fit 2 DSLR bodies and 2-3 lenses in this bag, along with a 13" laptop. As for adding a Mavic - I expect this would fit in the outer zipped pocket, too. I can't really comment on the Pro Tactic 450 - but maybe a good place to start (other than asking more people, too) would be to take a look at the internal dimensions on the Lowepro website and then maybe getting in touch with them directly. All the best - and let me know which model you decided on! 👍🏻
I don't know the specific dimensions of the 100-400mm, Jeremias - but the main camera area is not vast. I think you would find it a bit of a squeeze to fit all those items in that space.
My pleasure - thanks for taking the time to watch :) No, the waist belt is not removable on this bag... but being a Flipside, it is designed so that you can simply swivel the bag round in front of you, with the belt still done up, for access to the photo kit compartment. When I need waist belts kept out of the way, I generally fold them back on themselves and secure them around the front of the pack - easily done on this one, thanks to the front straps/attachment points.
Nice short review but I'm often lacking of dimensional info! Especially on some manufacturers' website (like Lowepro or Vanguard) I can't clearly figure out what the dimensions of the different areas are. Would you be able and so kind to tell what are the dimensions (L*W*D - in metric please) of the top and bottom compartments? *** Cheers
No problem - here are all the dimensions according to Lowepro's website: Internal Dimensions: 26 x 17 x 31 cm (10.24 x 6.69 x 12.20 in) External Dimensions: 31 x 24 x 54 cm (12.20 x 9.45 x 21.26 in) Tablet Compartment: 21 x 2.5 x 24 cm (7.87 x 0.98 x 9.45 in) Volume (device): 10 litres
These dimensions I already found and I think the internal are the ones of the bottom compartment. But what about the top one? If you still have this bag, could you please measure them?
On the bag I have, the approximate measurements are as follows: Main top compartment (i.e. not the cone for tablets etc): 26x15x12cm (maximum - but allow for reduced size in places, due to the zip shaping etc). Photo gear compartment (accessed vis back panel): 29x24x16cm.
Great review and much informative. How would you compare this backpack to the one that you have already reviewed, the Rover Pro 45L? Do you feel that the Rover in its 35L or 45L version is a better choice in terms of flexibility, load capacity and maybe a better choice for an overnight landscape trip? So, for overnight would you choose your Rover 45l or the Flipside Trek 450?
One thing I would say for both bags is that they are equally comfortable. I do, however prefer the extra padding on the shoulder straps of the Flipside (this a personal preference for all bags). In terms of load carrying, they are quite different... In practice, I've found the Rover Pro 45L's single main compartment is a better choice if you want to take additional overnight kit; working with a scaled-down camera kit, I would leave one of the inner pouches at home, to allow more room for a a tarp, stove, clothes etc. The Flipside is better for day trips; a larger camera kit can be carried in the photo compartment, whist the typical items you might want to take for a day out easily fit into the front compartment. Hope this helps :)
The Lowepro website says it will fit a 24 cm long tablet. My surface 3 is 27 cm long. Does it look like there is any flexibility for another 3 cm in length of the tablet pocket? Edit: I just saw your reply below to the MacBook Pro question. Are you sure a MBP will fit? 2015 MacBook Pros are 31.5 cm long and the Lowepro website says the pocket is 24 cm long.
Hi Blair. To clarify, the zippered outer compartment described contains a smaller pocket, like a sleeve, designed for tablets - 24cm is indeed right. I'd hazard a guess that your Surface 3 would likely fit if you put it in there (although there is room for addition 3cm approx, it might perhaps be a snug fit at the point where the zip is pulled up and round towards the top). As for the MacBook Pro discussed ... This will fit in that main compartment - just not in the smaller tablet pocket (which measures 19cm across approx.).
Thank you to make this video. I was looking for several camera backpack and I think this is probably the best one for me to travel outside the country. one thing I want to ask if you can help me to answer is do you think this bag is able to carry on the airplane, thank you.
Hello, great video ! could you help out with a question? i'm carrying my kit with a small Lowepro VideoDSLR 150 bag, and due bad back and knees, i need a bag with a good backsupport and waistbelt, also i need a fair bit of daily use items my medic kit a bulky pouch of 5.2 inches diameter and 9.5 inch long (can be seen as bulky lens) my phone keys sunglasses food a 32 oz waterbottle and more stuff thanks very much !
Glad you liked the video, Maximus. As a starting point, I'd recommend you take a look at Lowepro's Bagfinder on their website: www.lowepro.co.uk/info/bagfinder :)
Hi FrieleG - thanks for the kind words :) I wouldn't like to say for sure whether a 15inch would fit. As per other comments here (might be worth a look), a 13inch Macbook Pro will certainly fit - but I think the larger model would protrude ever so slightly beyond the line of the zip.
+Stefano Arrighi Thanks, Stefano - glad you liked it. Yes, that MacBook will fit in; it's a fairly snug fit if kept in a protective case (like a neoprene sleeve), but not so much that it stretches the zip.
I'm glad this did the job for you, Laurent! Personally, I'm not a fan of the staged studio-style review videos - much better to give them some context :)
Great review. This looks like the bag I have been after for a while. With those attachment points, do you think a tent bag could be attached to the bottom, and a sleeping bag attached to the top? I am looking for a bag I can take camping for a night or two, with some basic rations, but mainly my camera gear. Hopefully I can video it and upload it to my channel :)
Thanks, Andy - glad you found the review useful :) If you're keeping your kit to the minimum - maybe camping with a tarp+bivvy or small 1-man tent, along with the basics - you should be fine. This is the setup I take for days where I'm working on location, perhaps in woodland or down by the water (this is often documented via pics/video on my Instagram - @gilesbabbidge). I'll be sure to look out for your video, too :)
I don't know - I've never tried! That's fairly equivalent to the Nikon setup I've used on occasions, though, so you might be ok. Best check out Lowepro's website for further info 😊
A truly excellent and unbiased review. Thank you.
My pleasure, Nick - thanks for watching, and I'm glad you got some value from it 😊

Thank you for the great review. I am looking for a backpack for my Fuji system. It looks big, but hopefully not too big.

Hi Henrique. Thank you...
The camera compartment is not detachable, no. It is only accessible from the rear (back panel) of the bag.
Hi, great review, thanks u so much!! I have some questions, in the top, can I keep clothes for several days? Thanks u!!!!
That rather depends on how much clothing you think you'll need! More required in winter etc... But yes, there is space for clothing in the top 😊
Hi Giles. Thanks for the great review. I wanted to ask. I have the below lenses and wanted to ask your opinion of if you thought the would fit in the 350 version:

Do you think i Can fit one 100-400 Gm, 16-35 gm, fe 85 1.8, 24-70 GM. Sony a7R3 and rrectangular filters on the camera área?

Thank you for the insight on this one. One question: is the waist belt removable (as in the protatic 450 aw)?

Good review, thanks for that! I'm looking at the 350 version :)
Good stuff. A nice option to have if there's not the need to carry so much kit :)
can it fit 5d mark iii with 70-200 ,24-70 ,85 mm 1.4 & 35mm 1.4 ???
