In the Platonic, Neopythagorean, Middle Platonic, and Neoplatonic schools of philosophy, the demiurge is an artisan-like figure responsible for fashioning and maintaining the physical universe. The Gnostics adopted the term demiurge. Although a fashioner, the demiurge is not necessarily the same as the Creator figure in the monotheistic sense, because the demiurge itself and the material from which the demiurge fashions the universe are both considered consequences of something else. Depending on the system, they may be considered either uncreated and eternal or the product of some other entity.
The word demiurge is an English word derived from demiurgus, a Latinised form of the Greek δημιουργός or dēmiurgós. It was originally a common noun meaning "craftsman" or "artisan", but gradually came to mean "producer", and eventually "creator". The philosophical usage and the proper noun derive from Plato's Timaeus, written c. 360 BC, where the demiurge is presented as the creator of the universe. The demiurge is also described as a creator in the Platonic (c. 310-90 BC) and Middle Platonic (c. 90 BC-AD 300) philosophical traditions. In the various branches of the Neoplatonic school (third century onwards), the demiurge is the fashioner of the real, perceptible world after the model of the Ideas, but (in most Neoplatonic systems) is still not itself "the One". In the arch-dualist ideology of the various Gnostic systems, the material universe is evil, while the non-material world is good. According to some strains of Gnosticism, the demiurge is malevolent, as it is linked to the material world. In others, including the teaching of Valentinus, the demiurge is simply ignorant or misguided.
The first and highest aspect of God is described by Plato as the One (Τὸ Ἕν, 'To Hen'), the source, or the Monad. This is the God above the Demiurge, and manifests through the actions of the Demiurge. The Monad emanated the demiurge or Nous (consciousness) from its "indeterminate" vitality due to the monad being so abundant that it overflowed back onto itself, causing self-reflection. This self-reflection of the indeterminate vitality was referred to by Plotinus as the "Demiurge" or creator. The second principle is organization in its reflection of the nonsentient force or dynamis, also called the one or the Monad. The dyad is energeia emanated by the one that is then the work, process or activity called nous, Demiurge, mind, consciousness that organizes the indeterminate vitality into the experience called the material world, universe, cosmos. Plotinus also elucidates the equation of matter with nothing or non-being in The Enneads[9] which more correctly is to express the concept of idealism or that there is not anything or anywhere outside of the "mind" or nous (c.f. pantheism).
The figure of the Demiurge emerges in the theoretic of Iamblichus, which conjoins the transcendent, incommunicable “One,” or Source. Here, at the summit of this system, the Source and Demiurge (material realm) coexist via the process of henosis. Iamblichus describes the One as a monad whose first principle or emanation is intellect (nous), while among "the many" that follow it there is a second, super-existent "One" that is the producer of intellect or soul (psyche).
The "One" is further separated into spheres of intelligence; the first and superior sphere is objects of thought, while the latter sphere is the domain of thought. Thus, a triad is formed of the intelligible nous, the intellective nous, and the psyche in order to reconcile further the various Hellenistic philosophical schools of Aristotle's actus and potentia (actuality and potentiality) of the unmoved mover and Plato's Demiurge.
Gnosticism presents a distinction between the highest, unknowable God or Supreme Being and the demiurgic "creator" of the material, commonly identified as Yahweh, the God of the Hebrew Bible. Several systems of Gnostic thought present the Demiurge as antagonistic to the will of the Supreme Being: his act of creation occurs in an unconscious semblance of the divine model, and thus is fundamentally flawed, or else is formed with the malevolent intention of entrapping aspects of the divine in materiality. Thus, in such systems, the Demiurge acts as a solution to (or, at least possibly, the problem or cause that gives rise to) the problem of evil.

A very fascinating take on Set, Satan, Demiurge, Yahweh, and The Good.
I am not convinced that [Yahweh] is [Set] or [Satan].
The ‘jealousy’ I have always heard as “possessive” and “territorial” as though the entirety of the Universe and Order aligns for His Anointed visibly and synchronously for those with eyes to see and ears to hear. That is The Good in store for the righteous, enlightened Godman. The Godman is the visible image of the invisible Godhead and the Highest Good.
Sure, over the centuries and millennia that Godhead has been filtered through varying degrees of Godmen - some hardly worthy of the Name by today’s moral standards. Still, individuals tap into the direct and immediate experience of the immanent and transcendent Godhead (Gnosis) when they go inside, deep inside, and live out that light and truth in their experiences, reconciling contradictions and differences in their time.
Hopefully, I did not vomit gobbledygook, but something with nutrients for contemplation.

Nah...I think I'll pass. If the scholarship in the book is as bad as his claim about the Greek of John 8:44, then the book is not worthy of publication, let alone being read by any serious students of the Bible.
If you truely wan't to know what reality is capeable of you should read a book called: "What is Reality? / Reality Explained"
This book gives ACTUAL ANSWERS instead of just asking questions that lead to nowhere while it also gives you a clear explanation as to why we're not just humans or matter but rather something magical.

I remember at age 15, I stopped going to church because I realized the only reason why I believe in God is because I'm fearful of him and that's not true faith.
Edit: since stepping away from church, I have found a Divine Love (God) anything that feels like love is God to me and anything that feels like fear isn't. It's simple as that ✨

In one of the lost gospels Jesus was laughing at the apostles for practising the passover feast (Jewish tradition). He then tells the apostles that they are actually worshipping a demi god, and not the true creator.
In another of the lost gospels he was telling the apostles that the old Testament God was something like a high ranking Demon, and that the true creator would never ask for animal sacrafices.
I believe that in reality Jesus wanted us to serve the true creator by becoming as loving as possible, through extreme kindness, gentleness, forgiveness, generosity and non attachment to the world. And I believe that by doing that we start to experience true Joy and happiness from our hearts, and that is where our true creator resides.

In Hebrews 2:14 Jesus had to go get the power of death from satan. This means Jesus and his Father don’t own death. So how did the god of the Old Testament kill over 2 million plus people? How can he be Jesus Father? Jesus tells us no one has never seen his Father, nor his form, or heard his voice at any time. So how can Yahweh be Jesus Father if Jesus said that? Imagine the lengths of degradation, degeneracy, murder, cheating, and other vile acts a unified people that call that thing their deity and that deems them special unto him and above all others are capable of in this world. Yes Lucifer was cast down to earth, and was put in charge of the world, satan rules hell, so we can see that the world is Hell, and so since Lucifer is the servant of God, it makes sense that satan is not Lucifer but God Yahweh himself. But translate this and Satan is basically Saturn, who is Shani the god of Justice and he will haunt you to serve out your sentence in this life or the next.
But did Paul mean the Devil originally or the Devil's manager and father, YHVH? In Job, YHVH is Satan's (the Devil's) manager.

A recent examination of this can be found in Laurent Guyenot's book "From Yahweh to Zion: Jealous God, Chosen People, Promised Land". I've been an Atheist for more than 50 years but was brought up Roman Catholic. I find a lot of the ancient heresies fascinating, and they sometimes make a lot more sense than the post-Nicaean doctrine.
Gnosticism particularly makes the most sense, because if there ever *_were_* such an entity as YHWH, his personality, actions and temperament are utterly opposed to the supposed nature of Christ. It makes a lot more sense that YHWH was an insane, psychotic, Sumerian demon who was deluded that he was the only Divine being in existence, and Christ came from the True god to warn us and save us.
But this is the first time I've ever heard of YHWH sounding like a donkey braying!

Well, the early YHWH cultists had human sacrifice. You do not pass laws banning something that no one is doing. And this was more like 1200 BC, not the middle ages of 1200 to 1400 AD.
Later, the First Born son could be redeemed with a bull, and animal sacrifice became more common. Later still Christ became the ultimate human sacrifice, as only his blood was powerful enough to persuade YHWH to change the rules he had created in the first place.

Right so alot of this is based on the conflict between nomadic Sheppards vs the farmers. The farmers had direct gnosis from the demiurge and the nomadic Sheppards had a fluctuating idealism.
After growing up in church and attending several times a week, being seriously into it, I realized something was terribly wrong over 35 years ago. Which I have over the years, starting with the Gnostic texts. It's no wonder so many people choose to not believe in God, because they don't see how this awful being could possibly be God. The story is taken from Ovid's Metamorphoses. Sodom and Gomorrah are the two constellations called Scorpio and Sagittarius. Sodom = Fire/Heat and Gomorrah = accumulated water (beginning of rainy season. See Rev. 9.5, where the scorpion (Scorpio) is the leader of the five months that can harm man. This is the five months of non crop production and for many it meant starvation. The writer uses the words "can harm man" not "does harm man". I have never seen a good true father being jealous of their own children btw or in fact jealous with anyone pertaining to his kids. You tell me, how most of the kids love their mother more than their father but I dont see any father getting jealous of mother regarding this.
It was over 30 years ago when I realized that the creator god of the Old Testament was the devil. It's gratifying to see that other students of the Bible and religion in general have and do see it too. I can only hope that someday everyone will know it. The understanding of "jealousy" in ancient Israel is not quite the modern one. In many cases the word for jealousy ought to be translated as righteous indignation. In its most base interpretation, it should mean desire for a possession. Depending on the circumstances, that would either be righteous desire for one's own possession or unrighteous desire for someone else's.
The word jealousy comes from the Greek god Zelos. Same source for zeal. This is because being jealous & zealous are similar feelings. In Spanish Jealousy us celos, same deity. You're invoking something negative this is the greek implications. Righteous indignation isn't even written ugly but is "justifiable" behavior...

as a kid, i always prayed and went to church. those were some of the darkest yrs of my life. as a christian, i suffered over and over and completely lost hope eventually and attempted suicide. i didn't die but when i came back, i no longer wanted to be a christian. i started to look into buddism, eastern philosphy and other belief systems and it turned my life completely around. unfornately, the more you try to talk about things like this, the more some people blame everything on you. all the childhood trauma, suicidal thoughts, deep depression, everything. nothing in my life was half as bad as those moments after walking away. i knew something was wrong, just didn't know what until i read the 'dead sea strolls'.

I have a similar story, though not as drastic. I too felt very sad while a member of the Baptist church. My mother and almost every one else I knew was very into it (I grew up in the bible belt). I finally walked away when I was a teenager and started to follow my own path. I am so much happier and more spiritual than I ever was when I was in church.
As a funny anecdote, I was recently walking through a mall and some guy started trying to recruit me to his church. I told him as kindly as I could that I was in a very good place and leaving Christianity was the best thing I ever did. The look on his face was disgust and judgement. He looked at me like I was sub-human. And I looked back at him with a smile that said, "Those feelings of hate and disgust are the chains religion places upon your heart. You would not look at me that way if you truly knew what it was to be loved."

Greek here. I am culturally Orthodox and I believe that you can draw inspiration for good from whatever religious text using metaphors symbolism etc. That being said I have enormous appreciation (possibly even more than the Bible) when it comes to ancient Greek philosophy that to me reached the core of some philosophical issues way better than Christianity did or any Abrahamic religion for that matter. So yes I am a mix of Orthodox and Deist if you may. That is normal for many Greeks nowadays even though we do not practice religious rituals of Ancient Greece for the most part and to be honest most young people do not go that often to churches except for like 4 5 times a year. We approach religion in a more neutral way lets say with some key aspects that are unchanged through the years.
Now as far as this video is concerned this has been probably one of the best videos explaining how Platonism was incorporated to Christianity and how people are oblivious to it or purposefully ignoring it. Ancient Greeks figured concepts way before Christians and Jews and I find it perplexing how famous figures like Jordan Peterson which I like for many reasons but disagree with many of his opinions keeps ignoring the fact that basically every western religion plus the Quran has incorporated fundamental philosophical aspects of Ancient Greek philosophy. It is only natural that higher truths and explanations that describe the world in a more precise and understandable manner will get eventually incorporated into a system of religious and spiritual ideas to better serve their purpose of spreading.
Thank you for introducing me to David he seems to be doing Ancient Greece justice. One small quarrel I have is in regards to the word ΔΑΙΜΩΝ. Daimon were deities that were essentially the middle man connecting the humans to the gods or the ideal. So essentially it was your conscience. There were millions of those and essentially each human could have his own daimon. Now Athena was not a daimon she was a goddess with different attributes. ΠΡΟΜΑΧΟΣ(Promahos which means when Athena was ready to go to battle), ΠΑΡΘΕΝΟΣ (Parthenos-Virgin which is why Virgin Mary is called and Parthenos in Greece. A huge incorporation of Greek mythology and Christianity) and many many other surnames. So the protector of each city was the attribute of a God that was cherished by the city and NOT a daimon. I could name hundreds of adjectives that were given to the gods but you get the point. Daimons were personal deities that connected the humans to the transcendent and guided them.

One of the issues I've always had concerning this topic is that of jealousy. Jealousy is, like envy, a moral failing. A good person isn't jealous, they are concerning, but with out crossing into sin. The good version of jealousy is called compersion. To have compersion is moral, but jealousy is not.

To be "jealous" for a thing means wanting what is exclusively rightfully yours. For example: A husband is jealous for his wife, meaning he rightly expects her not to engage sexually with anyone but himself. She belongs exlusively and rightfully to him. And vice versa, the wife is jealous for her husband. He belongs exclusively and rightfully to her.
In the same way, the god of a nation who has entered a covenant of exclusive loyalty with that nation is rightly jealous for that nation, wanting its people to worship him or her only. It's no coincidence that covenants of this manner are frequently spoken of in terms of matrimony.

As someone who knows both Hebrew and Greek, I can tell you right now that Professor M. David Litwa is dead wrong on the understanding and correct translation of John 8:44, at point 31:58. If you read John 8 in its entirety, as Jesus rightly criticizes the Jewish religious leaders, you will find that Jesus could not have been saying that the father of those Jews was Yahweh.
Contextually, that is absurd, especially in light of John 8:42, which makes it very clear that Jesus was telling them that their father was NOT Yahweh the God of Israel. So the so-called mistranslation is not a mistranslation. Apparently, Mr. Litwa is unaware of the different ways the Genitive case can be translated, and did not get why his attempt at translating 8:44 was infantile at best. More than likely, what we have in John 8:44 is a Genitive of Source (or Origin), which has the genitive case of the noun "the devil" preceded by a preposition, which cannot be translated as a simple genitive of possession (see Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics, p. 109, 136, Daniel Wallace, 1996). So Mr. Litwa got it wrong on two counts; immediate literary context, and Greek grammar.

The original hebrew says there are other gods. The word idol was actually a mistranslation of the ancient hebrew by the greeks. The original hebrew says "shit" gods, not idols. Watching this video caused mental "light bulbs" in my brain to "click on" and illuminate differences between the gods of the old and new testaments that i have long wondered about to no avail. Yes, it's fascinating that despite the biased continuous alterations to what is considered church cannon, the older representations of early christian beliefs still remain in modern text. Thank you. The speakers made a bad argument here, even without scripture. An infinite being has no needs thus has no desire is a non sequitur. We may be fed and still desire food. The fact greed exists shows needs aren't a requisite of desire. To me, will is the basis of desire. We have a will and though it may be steered by our needs, we will still want for things that have no bearing on our needs. The fact man wants to know "why are we here" has no bearing on our needs, yet every culture asks this question. God has will and desires, for he told us so. He wants us and he is jealous when we want other things over him. This was his first command on the stones and Jesus reiterates it. These people fundamentally do not understand what they're discussing and don't appear to be critical of their own ideas.

I wanted only to correct your assumption-a form of the word-concept fallacy-that just because a word is in a plural form that it must be translated as plural or else it's a mistranslation. It is not. Yahweh was just one of the many gods under El. The first God mentioned in Genesis is El. He was the original "El", the head of the Canaanite Pantheon, who later morphed into "Baal Hadad", a warrior fertility god. When Moses flees into the wilderness and ends up with the Midianites, they are already worshiping a god name Yahweh. Yahweh was a Midianite War god who lived in a Volcano. The Israelites choose him because he was a bloodthirsty War god whom they needed in order to conquer and destroy their neighbors.

Came to this video a Christian and left still a Christian with even stronger beliefs. Now this gave me a deeper and better perspective of what God is. It's a type of knowledge that is combined with firsthand lived and integrated experience which must be filtered through the actual process of DISCERNMENT so as to avoid false gnosis.
It's a tad more dynamic than being told premises and accepting them. That's really just the same as faith.
It's imperative to learn the virtues from their excess/defict vices to greater understanding the true Divine character.
Also by learning the natural order or principles of manifest existence, we can see what they accord with.
One is the NATURE of the manifest Divine and one is it's CHARACTER which accords with its nature
Then we live it and get at least a glimpse of it by looking through the lens of the virtues NEXT to their excess/deficit
Like charity - spendthrift - greed
Confident - cocky - different
Mercy - pandering - vicious
And so on
In truth, we'd have to have more of the life sciences to acquire enough gnosis to attain liberation via first hand knowing.
Passive wisdom or comprehension is knowing bodies of knowledge about our nature and existence.
This allows us to use active wisdom (decision making) that creates accord with wholesome cause and effects.

Agreed. It is best understood as an experiential, inner looking path. Not many will find the template and use it for that. And the carrying verbiage keeps the masses busy and happy.

We can already see rich billionaires talking about it and even Elon Musk has already developed neuralink. A computer chip going into the brain.
People will be naive and think it will make them super human. They will pretend like they have thought about the dangers and have put precautions in place but in truth it will be highly invasive and aim at absolute control.
I've spent quite a lot of time trying to demystify the actual moral order.
It can be proven (that's conclusive) that ALL the world's religions are Mores NOT morality.
Mores blend (or con-fuse the virtues and vices together)
Morality is the whole presence of virtue and the whole absence of vice.
They're cause and effect so we really need to get the right.
