I am an "old dog" that joined the JVGA and now play the best golf of my life. I don't think "trick" is the best way to describe what I learned from Jim. What I find best about the JVGA swing is that I get the best results when I swing as slow as possible. As long as I stay healthy I can see my self playing good golf for a long time and I am 69 y.o.

Jim, THANK YOU!!! Im 61 and committed this year to your swing. I tried last year and comments from my playing group I allowed myself to be teased back to the swing that required a weight shift, timing, and focus on trying to do all if that on every swing. I would have some good rounds but then the “timing” would leave me or 1 of 10 other things. Now I’m hitting the best iron shots consistently, and only focusing on being in the correct set up, and the rest is easy. I play a $ match with 7 other guys, my handicap is 15, and after the 3rd round in a row of me dominating guys that are 5-7 handicap’s they’re wanting to change mine. Your videos changed my golf life, thank you once again.
    Jeff

This 'old dog' has just turned 65 and I can't recommend JV's method of setting up to each shot highly enough. Discovered him back in March and my game improved dramatically, shooting consistent scores in the low 70's. After almost 3 months layoff due to a hand operation I played my first round last weekend and shot 75 - simply focused on Jim's method. I wish I had discovered Jim a long time ago. Thank you Jim.

I came across Jim’s videos the other night and decided to try it on the range this morning. I’m 48 and just starting to play the game (maybe 4 months into it now, still a baby). I have a lot of back and leg issues so finding a swing that’s comfortable, pain free and allows me to actually strike the ball consistently and accurately has been a challenge.
From the very first swing, after having watched maybe a dozen of Jim‘s videos, there were so many concepts that finally clicked for me. Each of the first 10 balls I hit was an “AHA!” moment. From how club loft “actually” works to being opened and closed in your body angles - all of the mechanical things I’ve read about and watched - they all made sense.
I went to the range with the intention of only going thru maybe half a bucket using Jim‘s technique, just to try it out, but I ended up spending a solid hour and a half thru 2 1/2 buckets with my 9i working on nothing but this swing.
Now, I did have a handful of chunks and some thin shots, and they were mostly due to some small errors that I caught immediately. But I’d estimate that a good 60% of my shots were landing within 5 ft of the flag. With ease.
I’m about 110-115 yds with my 9i and it takes some effort for me to get that. When I leave the range, I’m usually pretty tired. It was almost comical the range I was getting with this swing and with almost NO effort (this is where the lightbulb went on about how the loft of the club SHOULD be doing all the
work). I was CONSISTENTLY hitting 125-130 yds and felt like I was hardly swinging.
Even my misses were “good.” My dispersion pattern is usually all over the place and when I hook, I REALLY go left. Like “potentially onto the adjacent fairway” left. But with this swing, when I missed target, my yardage was still dead-on and the balls would land in a 5-7 yd radius about 10 yds left of the flag (about 30% of my shots). Consistently. So even in that, I was encouraged.
Which brings up another point: this was the very first time that I could actually “feel” what the clubhead was doing, feel the openness and/or closedness of the face at impact. Since my misses were so grouped, it made practical sense as to how different grips actually shape and affect the shots. My slices were virtually non-existent and when they did, I could FEEL when the face was way too open or when I’d strike at the toe. I’d never been able to feel any of that before.
I will say that it was EXTREMELY awkward to set up in that closed stance, but by the time I got to the second bucket, it was a lot easier. Not quite second nature, but easier. I think my newness to the game is a benefit in not having to really break hardened swing habits.
I also subscribe to Chris Ryan’s channel and I’m a big fan of his swing (it’s truly gorgeous, looks so effortless) but with my physical limitations, I know I can never get to that. But as long as I’m able to get the ball where I need/want it to go, easily and pain free as I was able to do today, I’m good with adopting this new technique. I saw the ball flight with my eyes, felt it in my swing and I wasn’t tired afterwards. And my back felt good. It may look awkward and feel “off,” but it got me results - and that was just from watching a few videos.
    I’m convinced. And now I’m a student.

I’m an old golfer, been playing in Australia for *50 years. I’ve never hit the ball as well as now.
Wish I could live another 50 years to enjoy the game with your teaching. I’ve one question only. At address do you have the club face square
to the target or a little open with all shots?

Jim, I'm new to the channel. Very interesting concept and approach to the golf swing. If I may ask a simple question, do you place the weight on the inside of the left foot, the heel, the ball of the foot or some other combination. Obviously, its critical to really root down throughout the swing. Thank you.

Try the JV swing Ryan. It isn't easy at first, but when you get it you start to improve rapidly. I went from 24 to 15 handicap in 12 months at age 66 with only 3 years golf experience.

I dont normally comment but I will for any nay sayers out there. Bottom line is you need to simply let all your past thoughts of the golf swing and you must totally commit to a different way. I for one was a 15 and I am now down to a 7 after 3 months of working at this. I am a lousy putter and that is the next step as when I get really good at putting then scratch I am confident is not far off. Do not commit 1/2 a** to this. Lastly I can tell you from experience that when you plant that left foot the ball striking is pure!

This is very encouraging to hear. I have been working with Jim for about a week now and it's been awesome. Been using his swing though for around 7 months but without his guidance. If you don't mind...can we chat some how? Maybe through the academy? Would love to hear about your journey with this system. 3 months to a 7 is just incredible.

Hi, Jim. Golf sure is an interesting study. I thank you for the insights you have given me over the last few months. I've been able to watch many TH-cam golf instructors due to being retired and locked down by a dictatorial governor (did I type that out loud?). I would like to see an exhibition match, 36 hole stroke play on day one and 18 hole match play on day two, between yourself, Jim "keep it still" Venetos and Paul "swing that body" Wilson. I guess Paul is based in Las Vegas any you're somewhere in the desert. Just saying. I, myself, use a mix of golf styles which, I'm sure you and Paul can both agree, is why I'm a duffer. I don't see that exhibition happening, but if it happens I want to see it. Again Thanks for the videos. Be Happy.
