HSP Flying Fish Street Basher, mod1 gearing and servo test!

  • I think it's going to be a little bit more of a challenge making a street basher out of this very simple 1/10 drift/road car!
    Mod1 gearing was essential if I wanted much higher speeds and better punch.
    There is still some sort of binding or lag in the steering even after upgrading to the new Power HD 13kg MG servo🤔

    Hey, I was wondering, did you modify anything on the car to fit the wltoys 144001 shocks? Also may I know why did you swap out the stock shocks in first place? Thanks in advance!

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No mods needed to fit 144 shocks👌
      And HSP shock aren't great, almost ever one iv had popped(e-clip holding the piston to the shaft bends and fails)in about 10 mins, no dampening one that happens, 144 shocks are so much better!

      Yeah I think the whole steering assembly isn't quite right but you can fix it a little with a high quality servo, my got to brand if I'm trying to get better steering is ALWAYS Hitec, amazing servos!
      A gyro may help you aswell if you don't mind use them, I dont😅
      Hope that helps👍

    Very good video, I'm from Brazil and here people use a tamiya brushed motor that we call a can and I have this doubt if I can keep up with the TT01 and TT02 with this HSP 94123 with the same motor and ESC configuration and without much aluminum upgrade so as not to weigh more on the car and use those articulated CVD's that greatly improve clearances, right? can you answer me if it is possible to walk together with the tamiyas with a certain equality? grateful for the attention and keep making quality content.🎉

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Andrew!
      So it may just be a slight language barrier thing but I'm not sure if I understand correctly.
      Do you mean using the HSP chassis but with the brushed motor your talking about?
      If so I think you would probably be closely matching to a TT.
      But I can't give any real answers because I've never had a TT so I can't honestly compare them.

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got mine from ebay Australia but I haven't been able to find them for a while now.
      Any motor should fit just depends what size bore the pinion is, if it 5mm bore you need a motor with a 5mm shaft.
      Always check specs if possible.
      If you got similar size gearing to mine then anything 2000 to 3000kv is 👍

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are possibly 100s of surpass motors but the stock gears are M0.6 from memory.
      But 4200kv with just the stock gearing will be quite fast even on 2s I think.
      There is a gear set for these cars, 3 or 4 pinions and spur in a pack👇
      www.ebay.com.au/itm/373568358167?hash=item56fa68c717:g:fu0AAOSwzeJgkmhj

    Hey bro what diff oil weight would you recommend on this chassis for speed runs?. My setup is 6000kv motor, Mod1 26t pinion, Mod1 29t spur, 2s-3s lipo but before i can run that i need to change the oil thanks in advance. loving the builds video bro keep em coming.

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey john,
      I'm not super knowledgeable with how exactly diffs and shocks should be set-up, just trial and error.
      For speed I would probably go 90k in the front and 50k rear, quite thick for that car but it should help with stability and straight line tracking.
      If it does not feel right for you try dropping the weight in both diffs by 10-20k, 70k front 30k rear.
      Good luck mate🤘

    • @kemsta1243
      @kemsta1243 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rccrazy Appreciate the information mate going to give that a try.
      Also to mention you know the Traxxas 6492 29T pinion you used as the spur, could you tell me how you attached that as the original spur has a cut out/grove for the pin to sit in the gear as it goes onto the diff shaft but the Traxxas does not.
      Thank you mate 👊

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not a problem at all mate!
      The traxxas pinion in held on by the grub screw, I didn't bother about it but you can file a tiny shallow flat spot where the grub screw will sit, prevents it from spinning on the shaft if the grub comes loose.

      Hey mate, so these have a 5mm centre shaft and most large mod1 pinions have a 5mm bore/hole, you literally just grub screw the pinion to the centre shaft once the stock spur is removed.
      Mod1 pinions available everywhere👌

    I have one myself but I have steering issues. It slightly drafts into to direction that I was steering when I go back to cental. Already checked Servo and the horn itself is always back to center but the wheels seem to have some play in them. Anyone having the issue aswell and know what part to replace or fix? I assume the servosafer but not sure.

      Mine is the same even after changing the saver, tightening the saver made mine worse actually and a monster servo didn't fix it either.

    Great video and Awesome motor and gear mods. Could you send me a link to the Mod1 spur gear that your using? I haven't been able to find a Mod1 spur gear that was interchangeable with the setup of the original steel one. I need to change to Mod1 gearing because I keep destroying my Mod0.6 pinions running on 4s and i haven't been able to find any alternatives. Cheers

      Thanks mate👍
      I can give you the link but I get all my stuff locally as in Australian sellers so it will be a OZ link, sorry🙏
      Alternatively you can use whatever size because you need to change the spur to mod1 anyway (mod1 with 5mm bore for the centre shaft)
      29t for the spur and a 20t pinion I would start with depending on the motor kv's.
      If you run under 2500kv or so on 4s then you could go bigger pinions I'd say👍
      Let me know if you still want to link.

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nah mate, pinions have a grub screw!
      You remove the original spur aswell as the pin, put the new pinion on the shaft and do up the grub screw.
      Exactly the same as if you were securing it to a motor shaft.
