    YES! I mentioned this on another vid, that maybe Scarlet hit the Jubilee to capture Queen Jena for her blood!! This was her FIRST direct attack, and she specifically tried to CAPTURE her vs shooting her right off the bat. “Stupid humans, always getting in my way.” was this Scarlet's writing? or the Voice in her head?

      welppp guess it was because Queen jenna denied her student visa

    I absolutely love your videos. I love GW universum, but this lore is so detailed that is hard to keep with everything that is happening. I know this video is old, but things are even more crazy after season 3 and PoF, when the Bloodstone was actually destroyed. I'm really curious what will come next :) thank you for making videos on your channel, I'm big fan!

    Hey WP, I just spotted a very interesting tie in to your Bloodstone theory in a very early part of GW2! In the Icesteppes in Wayfarer Foothills, there's Albin the Chronicler, who's trying to get Jotun to trade their runestones away in exchange for bartering. When you finish that mission, the Thank You text says the following: "As an added bonus, the runic bloodstones that we received will go a long way towards our efforts in reading the ancient Jotun languages. We may decipher the ancient Jotun texts just yet!"

    Isn't it somewhat ironic? Gameplay and lore have clashed with each other now in both GW1 and GW2. But the way they clashed has done a totally flip flop from 1 to 2.
    In GW1, the schools of magic related to a profession. Destruction - Elementalist. Aggression - Necromancer. Preservation - Monk (Guardian now). Denial - Mesmer. The lore stated the schools prevented magic from being so free and usable. Meaning an Elementalist couldn't call upon Necromancy and shoot fireballs. YET! In GW1, the secondary profession mechanic meant gameplay wise you could be an Ele shooting off fireballs and summoning the dead.
    Now in GW2, that's more laxed. There are multiple sources of magic and the schools are old and chuckled upon. One can use more magic then just a chosen profession. The only restriction is that trying to control all of it will cause really bad things to happen to you. Not godly punishment... more like you explode from chaotic instability. BUT! In GW2, you can't have a secondary profession, so gameplay wise you can only control one "school" of magic.
    Like I said, Ironic, eh?

      a bit small, isn't it? i mean, look at bloodstone fen (the GW1 footage bloodstone) or the bloodstone in the queen's throne. they're HUGE. ventari's tablet is big for tablet standards, but nowhere near that.

      i don't think the pale tree grew ontop of one of the bloodstone, because that wouldn't explain the other pale trees we've heard hints about, but it might be that the location of where it's seed had been found was near or ontop of one of the bloodstone

    Best case scenario: Logan dies a horrible death, Jennah too, Canach is a badass once more and we get to see Livia again. Oh, and while im at it, the Pale Tree decides that Ventari was way cooler then Ronan and turns all sylvari centaur-like instead of human-like.

    wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Thruln_the_Lost That is a link to the Dialog of an npc in game, it could be just a jotun perspective on things, but he claims the magic loss was due to the human gods taking it away. He also however, speaks of humans becoming "noticed" by the gods only at the point when they had kingdoms, while traditionally we are told that the gods brought humans to Tyria... well played anet on seeding some cultural mysticism.

    • @infurnucide
      @infurnucide 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      AruthaSilverthorn maybe so, I would imagine they fought for it if they knew it existed. Or maybe the confusion was their perspective of abaddon freeing magic, and the other gods then resealing it. Viewing them as a collective, it would seem that they were going back and forth in their decisions, if they knew nothing of the civil war between them.

    • @ANDELE3025
      @ANDELE3025 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      All jotun in game plain lie to the PC (from open world to personal story), Thruln is no exception. Not to mention that even their runestones hold little magic/value at all past the priory wanting to translate the old jotun language.
      Also all humans had innate magic from the gods to which some still can call upon (aka the pc and the racial prayer abilities).

    6:1 is a common theme in GW.
    The 6 domains of the Dragon's lair, the 6 domains of the torment, the 6 aspects of Glint, the 6 aspects of the gods in a quest in Tarnished coast in GW1... the 6 basic professions, lots of "6 things around one" motifs all over the place...

  • @madman24k
    @madman24k 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's one thing about the original GW stories. You were always fixing people's problems at hand, but eventually your character was the result of larger problems that developed down the road. We went against the Mursaat and the White Mantle, and because of that we ended up handing over the Scepter of Orr to the Lich, were basically responsible for the Titans presence in Tyria, and eventually the cause of a bloody civil war. We stopped Abbadon once and for all only after releasing one of the greatest threats to Elona back into the world. There's so much gray area in GW's stories that, honestly, made me feel like the villain at times.

    22:04 The giant glowing broken rock behind Queen Jenna, has 6 rings expanding from the center! (I think I'm just being paranoid at this point) You should check it out!
    If it was the keystone I'm sure we would be puking magic from being so close all the time, but would be funny if that was why the shining blade settled and fortified the queen there.

  • @Windikite
    @Windikite 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I wonder, if the Bloodstone were shattered would it return it's magic to it's holder? Probably not directly but perhaps leave it there for others to collect. Imagine the story implications if the Jotun suddenly got much, much more powerful, perhaps even gaining the ability to restore their civilization. I was going to suggest we could collect them and use it for crafting or upgrading ourselves, however we already have Bloodstone Shards don't we? It just has not plot relevance.
    Secondly, we can only assume the Elder Dragons went back to sleep after most of the magic was drained in the last cycle. This time however, they will die. Where does the magic go when they die? I think they could push the story in a cool direction if Tyria become much more magically charged at least in certain areas because of this. Magic wouldn't seep out of them over time, it would explode out and adversely affect the use of magic in an area, perhaps all of Tyria.

    Seems like the story in GW2 is now getting more interesting again. I hope ANet has some really awesome ideas, because this might become a really nice thing.
    I always have to think, what exactly would have been Scarlets plan, if she would not have died. And btw: Scarlet even tried to kill the Queen during S1, so it's really likely, that the elder dragons will try it again. And the attack on the queen perhaps wasn't just "because of fun/random", but because of the bloodstones. She didn't tried to kill the other leaders, only the queen. And that as a Sylvari.

  • @Murrfle
    @Murrfle 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think there might be multiple... sources I guess, of magic. One is dragon magic (the stuff that leeched out of the dragons which they would then consume before sleeping again) and the other is regular magic.
    When I was doing the exploration of Orr there were a lot of different NPCs who seemed to be on archaeological expeditions of sorts. They would have scrolls and tomes near them that you could read through. At one place (It was either Straights of Devastation or Malchor's Leap) I read an account of a human who had visited Orr on a business trip and was astounded at how prolific and effortless magic use was. They used magic for everything in Orr, no matter how small the task might be.
    The way it was phrased gave me the impression that in the other human cities, meaning the ones that weren't built on tops of magic-leaking dragons, magic was something a person had to work at. Magic was not available to every single person, and the magic people did wield took a lot of training and effort. In a lot of cases it was probably less strenuous and time consuming to just do things in a mundane fashion than to attempt to use magic for it. This was probably not the case in Orr, where the abundance of magic caused casual use to permeate nearly every aspect of day-to-day life.

  • @imkluu
    @imkluu 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had always associated those 6 symbols with the six original classes; Fighter, Ranger, Mesmer, Necromancer, Cleric and Mage. There was a lot of six imagery in Prophecies and much of it seemed to be associated with the six different classes such as the different crystal dimensions that lead to Glint, the avatars, the gods, the colors in the designs corresponding with the classes, ect...
    Much of this was lost once they added new classes with the expansoins but in the original Prophecies much of it seemed connected to or associated with the six original classes.

    You know what would be awesome? The bloodstone is reassembled, the magic from it is subsequently released, and this causes an excess of magic in Tyria. It also causes say... ascended professions? New skills? A new profession? That would be awesome.

  • @MithranArkanere
    @MithranArkanere 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Some people think what's behind Jennah in her throne room is the remnants of a bloodstone, recovered from Maguuma, if that's the case, Scarlet could have attacked Divinity's Reach not just to show off her power, test her machines and mess with the morale of the humans, but to take that bloodstone.
    Distract people with her watchknights, and some aetherblades sneak in with an aether portal, take the stone, and put a replacement.

    I was going to say "They can't kill well established characters off or do too huge drastic changes that might affect the previous story". But I remembered that to *play* Season 2, you need to be level 80. So that anything could happen (which is *good*). It's a bit weird playing through Season 2 on a character that hasn't slain Zhaitan yet though...

    I always imagined that if Queen Jenna passed, then Logan would go into rage mode and become a "dark guardian" and almost reach an evil state of mind.
    I aslo want to see future living story where 2 or more elder dragons end up fighting one another, or have a dragon end up not being entirely evil say bubbles?

    An very interesting end (or part) of the stroy would be that you meet the mursaat they learn you how to travel between worlds so you can go to the underworld and tell dhuum that an elder dragon has reborn some dead( because dhuum thinks what is dead should stay dead forever) and bring him to a final fight with zaithan. that´s just an idead but damn that would be so cool.

  • @fpcoutinho

    WoodenPotatoes, I'm very interested on Elder Dragons ( to the point I kinda fell bad for killing Zhaithan and be way happy for Mordremoth wake ), especially Primordus, he is the best to me, but this is not I want to talk about now
    You said, if I'm not mistaken, that the Bloodstones served kinda as a Seal, a magic storage to keep it safe from Elder Dragons.
    Also, you talk about the Mursaat, and together with Asura Origin video, we see a peculiar connection:
    1 - the Asura were the first to come into contact with Elder Dragon ( although indirectly ) trough the Gate Chamber on GuildWars Eye of the North
    2 - the Asura were also the ones to come into contact with the Mists, a thing that only the Mursaat ( and the Old Gods if I'm not mistaken ) did
    3 - the Asura, or better, the Inquest, were already at Maguuma Jungle right before us, they were also dealing with Dragon magic, in those 5 chambers, each representing a Elder Dragon
    4 - It was a Asura who indirectly twisted Scarlet mind, how it happened ? He told her that a machine would... show her the Eternal Alchemy ( or as we see now, to some kind of Bloodstones ) ( I'm kinda sleepy, so can't remember all details, forgive me about that ) and what happened ? She was taken to the Pale Tree, and consequently to Mordremoth ( or Primordus ) grasp, and result : she worked to wake up Mordremoth from his slumber
    5 - Since the Mursaat could travel between time and space trough the Mists, the Dwarfs are still " alive " in some way, and we never known the absolute fate of the Jutun or the Seer, we can presumably assume some of them or all them can return
    Apart from this, for me, the biggest scene of could happen in GW2 for me would be the old races ( Jotun, Dwarf, Seer and Mursaat ) together with the present races ( Humans, Silvary, Charr, Asura and Nord ), and even the help of the old gods ( Dwayna, Melandru, Lyssa, Balthazar, Grenth and Kormir [ and perhaps Abbadon, I doubt the will of a being of his power could be completely wiped out ] ) against the greatest Elder Dragon Primordus ( or a far dangerous one, one Elder Dragon from the Mists itself ) who would consume the... magic of life itself ?
    Hope I didn't commit many mistakes, I would like to discuss more of this matter with you, WoodenPotatoes, continue with you great work videos :D

    I can't stop thinking about Scarlet as a failed sylvari "Neo" (Matrix). There are some similarities. Sylvari are a new race. Based on the wiki, there were more seeds (Pale Trees?). Some most important (leading) characters for the gw2 storyline are sylvari, like Trahearne, Scarlet, the one, who left before the end of season one (who didn't sproute from the Pale tree), the vigilante, captured in season one (somewhere around defending Lion's Arch), ... I can't remember the names :(. Or even Aerin. It's like Mordremoth and sylvari are somehow related, and are drawn to him.
    What's the purpose of the Pale Tree (as an addition to the globes - gods/dragons which we saw in Omadd's machine)? Just leading the sylvari thru visions as an oracle? Zhaitans death, Mordremoths death?
    Scarlet tried to brake out of the system...the fate "given" by the Pale Tree. Just to unleash Mordremoth? It doesn't look like, this was her primary goal. Maybe if players wouldn't be too bitchy about her, the story could be different.
    Don't forget, there were more Neos, and almost all failed. So, which of the sylvari will be next? :)

    [Spoilers]
    I've not heard you talk much about the heir to the throne. It was briefly mentioned in Entangled but a friend and I both thought it was a pretty important reference. I believe you only get it if you choose to accompany Braham during the Concordia Incident. Magister Lindsay says that the Royal locket was one of the artifacts they lost. She says it shows the heir to the throne of Tyria. I think it is a pretty safe bet to assume we'll be dealing with the future heir to the throne at some point. Add this to the stuff you said in this video and we've got some really interesting stuff. I don't know how big the shards are but what if the locket is a shard of the bloodstone?
    As for the heir to the throne, who is it? It's a long shot but there could be something here to do with Kasmeer. She's of noble blood but the history of her family is very mysterious with her parents dying in starneg circumstances. She's an incredibly powerful mesmer, much like Jennah. While Kasmeer is unlikely to be the heir I think it's possible she could be more directly tied to that arc of the story. Perhaps she's related to Jennah in some way, sister perhaps? Maybe Jennah wanted to make sure she had sole claim to the throne and so made sure her sister was out of the picture?
    Wild speculation here but this is what we're here for isn't it? :P

    Since when have we ever been told that the keystone is in the caldera of the volcano? We know that a piece of the bloodstone is in there, but, In fact, it was said that the keystone was sealed with the blood of King Doric and placed in the care of his lineage. I think the keystone is actually the Krytan Royal Locket that is briefly mentioned, never before mentioned in either game, in Entangled.

    Lys. The only reason the Mursaat wanted to use the Bloodstones was to keep the Titans away. Now that the Titans are gone and the Dragons are here, I would think the Murssat would want the magic for themselves so that they can dissappear from Tyria again.
    Plot Twist; Master of Peace is a Mursaat.

    Question: What about those Bloodstone dust that we get billion of or Bloodstone shard for 200 skill point from Miyani that we give to Zommorro for legendary? do they have any connection to these 5 pieces of bloodstone?
    lol make sure you guys stack up on your agony resistance in case if Mursaats come back. that might force us to go for ascension like in guild wars 1 or get ascended items in gw2. But i doubt forcing of ascension will happen; though i do like to see mursaat coming back.

    if evereything in this video turns out to be true then that would mean that the mursaat have just gained one of the top spots for possible new playable races, even though we haven't seen them for over 250 years.
    and i'm not even mad about it,
    for the story it would be perfect if they turn out to come to our rescue at the moment the bloodstones are beeing unlocked or close to beeing unlocked, their hometown could be in a different realm, somewhere along the leyline network, or near a bloodstone, and if they would normaly be thought to be too strong for a playable race then they could even sacrifise some of their power to the bloodstone as their seal is improved, or remade, at the same time that is beeing done a big change or addition to the magic system could be done. a change that unlike the second profession in gw1 would be lore supported. afterall don't forget they mentioned new skills and traits for race/proffesion, but that might even mean new professions

    The Gods lore is actually quite similar to the lore in Lord of the Rings/ The Silmarillion well in sections. Also the Mursaat look quite similar to the figures shown in the Heart of Thorns Trailer.

  • @zipptinker

    Hey WP I have a question that you could hopefully answer for me.
    Why can't the human gods be the Dragons? They have the same number of "members" and don't seem to be around at the same time.
    I came to this conclusion when you were talking about the dragons and gods in this video. With the Dragons consuming magic and the Gods controlling it. could it be that the human form of the dragons are a projection. Knowing that if they consumed all magic in the world it would be destroyed and they would die as well. Maybe the gods are there to prevent the dragons consuming everything. When the gods left the humans seems to be in a stronger position and maybe they saw that as a threat to them when they rose back as dragons and left.
    I'm sure many people have had this theory before. I am also very sure that there would be arguments that this isn't the case.
    but it all fell into place in my mind when you mentioned Abbadon being in a water place and the mystery behind bubbles. If Abbadon was the rogue that has been stated many times, maybe he wanted to push out and have more power than the rest so wanted to release all the magic.
    It would be helpful if you could explain possible flaws in this theory for me as I am trying to delv more into lore as a whole. I have recently purchased Guild Wars full edition to try and find out for myself but this will take me a long time.
    Thank you for your time. It's much appreciated and keep up the great video quality.

    Is it also worth noting that in one of the earliest maps of Guild Wars 2 Tyria (in Ghost of Ascalon) that they felt the need to cite the location of Bloodstone Fen? I think they definitely had plans for it in the future.

    ... The image you used for "dragons" at 4 min was a ascalonian mural of the forgotten...
    Also, as far as we know from in game, every single jotun who isnt hostile plain lies, so chance is not that they are a great civilization which fell, but just leeches which survived via the dwarves, seers, mursaat and forgotten (all races which have shown to have real magical and mental capabilities to be a real race and contenders to fight the dragons, unlike the quaggen/grawl like jotun).
    Another thing, if one is to remember, it isnt just Abbadon who unlocked the bloodstone, it were all the gods, its just Abbadon who didnt want the spread of magic to stop/objected when Doric asked for magic to be sealed off again.

    • @WoodenPotatoes

    @ Arah: It is right that they build it there because of the magic, BUT to add one thing: The human gods build it there directly above the star closest to planet Tyria which is called Dwayna's Heart (like the god)
    This is where the gods now reside after leaving Tyria (my guess) and watch over the battle with their rivals - the dragons.

    Hey WP,
    at some point you talked about the increase in strength from Tequatl. Is it possible that he got more powerfull because he has to "replace" Zhaitan?
    Maybe there has to be 6 Elder Dragons... like some sort of natural law. And therefore because his master died he, Tequatl, will get his place as the Elder Dragon of Death/ Undead.
    This would fit in ANets statement that the increase in Power has meaning yet to be revealed.
    What do you think about this?
