  • This year (2016) we celebrate the 12th anniversary of the album "Is There Love In Space?", first released on April 13, 2004. This exclusive behind-the-scenes video documenting the rehearsal for the world tour was presented as part of the listening party stream of the album upon its release. This was shown in partnership with Apple's Quicktime 6 cutting edge video streaming technology. By modern standards it left a lot to be desired and so we are now making it available here in high quality.
Joe's band on this tour featured Jeff Jeff Campitellin drums, Matt Bissonette on bass and vocals and Galen Henson on rhythm guitar.
We also have very limited special autographed copies of the "Is There Love In Space?" song book that we have put up in the store at satriani.spinsh...
What was your favorite song from this album?

I'll never forget seeing Satch open for Deep Purple in the summer of 2004, it was pouring rain, and with the lasers and lights it was a surreal experience. Watching him play is what inspired me to play guitar. That whole album is gold.

I have a similar memory at the Toronto concert that year. Had floor seats and I rushed the stage the moment Satch opened with Gnaahh. Only time I've seen him play a 7 string.

Exactly what I love to hear a group of great musicians jamming out in a warehouse in a mysterious location where they are using real amps, real drums, no samples, and are kicking ass! This is music in its purest form and you can feel that energy even through this video. Thank you for sharing this Joe you're the best man and continue to be a huge inspiration to all of us.

Honestly, this is my favorite Satch's album. The songs of this album are really masterpieces and the difficulty of them is incredible. Also, something really sad about this album is that in my opinion it has been very underrated, and like it was mentioned in other comments there are songs like Just Look Up or Souls Of Distortion that have never been played live. I hope that the latter can be performed live and that Satch includes this album more in his concerts.

There are only a few Satriani albums that rank as my all time favorites. " Black Swans . . . " is my all time favorite followed by " Surfing. . . " and " The Extremist. " Joe and his bands have never released a bad album, truthfully. But THIS disc was a surprise for me, especially the tune " Searching. " Over the years, I've come back to this disc and actually learned the parts by ear. I find it nowadays to be a WONDERFUL play-along AND listening experience. Probably my all time favorite track is " Up In Flames. " Just a beautiful album. Thanks Joe!

I still remember browsing through the CDs, something kept shifting me back towards his albums, and as a long-time guitarist I immediately fell in love with the sounds, had no idea most of his tunes were/are instrumentals. Cheers to 12 years! #JoeSatriani
