I'll never forget seeing Satch open for Deep Purple in the summer of 2004, it was pouring rain, and with the lasers and lights it was a surreal experience. Watching him play is what inspired me to play guitar. That whole album is gold.
I have a similar memory at the Toronto concert that year. Had floor seats and I rushed the stage the moment Satch opened with Gnaahh. Only time I've seen him play a 7 string.
Same!!! That was the show that changed my life as a guitar player and also found my guitar hero at that show Joe Satriani! One of the most important shows of my life if not the most important 🤘
Miss that album, definitely has some of the best instrumental rock pieces ever. Miss that drums sound also, Jeff played some of the best drums instrumental rock music ever known.
Exactly what I love to hear a group of great musicians jamming out in a warehouse in a mysterious location where they are using real amps, real drums, no samples, and are kicking ass! This is music in its purest form and you can feel that energy even through this video. Thank you for sharing this Joe you're the best man and continue to be a huge inspiration to all of us.
zerosiii yes I’m totally with you , Satriani haves 2 7 strings guitars and he can’t plays 4 songs ( mind storm, seven strings, searching and hands in the air ) and the dog crown , souls of distortion ( this drop d songs too he always plays friends on drop d of course) but we need hear more 7 strings guitar songs and more drop d too 🙏
This album changed my life for the better... My dad got me this album before i took off to collage... This question was the subject of endless debate in my philosophy class... Thx for the memories Satch... Couldn't have gotten though collage without you...
How did you get into college without knowing how to spell "college"? Honestly I don't mean to offend, I'm just really curious. But at least you have great taste in music. :)
Honestly, this is my favorite Satch's album. The songs of this album are really masterpieces and the difficulty of them is incredible. Also, something really sad about this album is that in my opinion it has been very underrated, and like it was mentioned in other comments there are songs such as Just Look Up or Souls Of Distortion that have never been played live. I hope that the latter can be performed live and that Satch includes this album more in his concerts.
Joe, you are the best. Better than Steve or Stevie . Been listening for decades and been playing guitar for decades. I think you are the best guitar player that has ever lived. Thanks for sharing the close ups view of what you are doing. Eternally grateful.
There are only a few Satriani albums that rank as my all time favorites. " Black Swans . . . " is my all time favorite followed by " Surfing. . . " and " The Extremist. " Joe and his bands have never released a bad album, truthfully. But THIS disc was a surprise for me, especially the tune " Searching. " Over the years, I've come back to this disc and actually learned the parts by ear. I find it nowadays to be a WONDERFUL play-along AND listening experience. Probably my all time favorite track is " Up In Flames. " Just a beautiful album. Thanks Joe!
2004 - A turbulent year for me but this album really helped me get thru it. An awesome album from start to finish. My faves are, Is there love in Space & Bamboo
First Satch album I ever bought, year it was released. I still remember browsing through the CDs, something kept shifting me back towards his albums, and as a long-time guitarist I immediately fell in love with the sounds, had no idea most of his tunes were/are instrumentals. Cheers to 12 years! #JoeSatriani
I could watch this all day. The title track is by far my favorite on the album. Searching had me right off the bat. Love seeing and hearing him use the JSX.
Love Matt Bissonette's bass sound. Love his album he recorded with his brother on drums, called "Jughead", nice "pop" sound but recorded with heavy highly-technical instruments, a nice combo if you ask me xDDD
+A Just tried searching for it again and it appears he played it in the Netherlands in late 2015. Only live recording I've come across but I'll take it!
Hey Joe ! Can you teach that lick at 14:12 where your index finger looks rooted and you bend around the pentatonic scale ? I tried to do it but I can anchor my index that well and I think I am slowed down by excessive lifting off of fingers, can't finger out quite how you do it.
Joe played some 7string songs on the "is there love in space" album and before, for example "Searching" and "Seven String" ... He didn't use a 7 string afterwards ...
What was your favorite song from this album?: "is there love in path", incredible solo wahwah in the album give me chills all the time i listen to it (too bad that's not the filmed version in this video) special love to "gnaahh" and "searching" too, and nearly all the album in fact^^
I'll never understand why that JS 7 string wasn't made into a production model, I would have loved it if was and if Joe wrote more albums on a 7 string.
Joe looks really tired in this video :\ Either that or he was in deep spacey concentration ;) Anyway, I remember LOVING this album when I was about 16 and obsessively learning all the songs in the Tab book I got from the library! xD One of my all time favourites! :D
at :08 I can't tell, but it looks like a XXX. It doesn't have any describable markings on it that give it away for me. If you watch here :50 and look far stage right, you can see there is a JSX sitting there. I assume thats what Galen Henson is playing through.
My favorite song; If I could Fly!!! One Question. It is true that Joe Demand to Coldplay due Musical "concidence" this song and Coldplay´s "Viva la Vida??? If it true, MFU$&%$$
Yeah. Here's an article about it: www.theguardian.com/music/2009/sep/16/coldplay-joe-satriani-lawsuit-dismissed I don't know what to believe... Is is a coincidence or did they actually "borrow" the melody from him?
@@antonbarkland2194 just wait till you find out there is another old blues song I think that has the same chord progression as joe and Coldplay predating both of them by decades I believe. Have to look it up, but I remember years ago I did and it was like, lol joe and Coldplay stole from this guy hahaha

this was the first album i ever bought with my own money from my first job after finishing school.
I remember it well.
Miss that album, definitely has some of the best instrumental rock pieces ever. Miss that drums sound also, Jeff played some of the best drums instrumental rock music ever known.
Yes! Love Jeff’s drumming style
I've posted way too much tonight. In terms of feel and real music, satch will always be number one.☮️😎

This album and crystal planet felt like he was on a particularly special trip. Alien joe and jazzy joe are the best.
One of my favorite albums. Songs like Souls of Distortion, Dog With Crown and Earring, Just Look Up - shame they aren't played live
the B-sides are the best

Actually, he have played Searching everytime i had watched him in Stockholm after that album was released. So i believe he plays them live sometimes.
Can't really get enough Joe.
I enjoyed this band. Good times!!
I can never get enough of Satch!
So nice to watch at this! This has been my " backing sound " album for two years in my life!
And I still love it!
Nice to see Jeff Campitelli and Matt Bissonette back :-)
+paqman78 this video is from 2004 rehearsals to the" is there love in space " tour. Jeff and Matt are from that year
8:22 - That's a very nice arpeggio/sweep.

Don't say "Better than..." because this isn't a competition! Both are great musicians.
Happy 15th Anniversary "Is There Love In Space" ....My Commute to work Album back in 2004! :-)
Joe Satriani Excelent🤗😎
Great album and it was awesome to watch this footage. I miss joe playing the 7 string, he had a great sound on it
Thanks for the music Joe. You have given me more than I can say.

This is a great video. Love the candid footage of Satch playing.
Loved all the songs on the album!
Grande! grande! Grande Joe Satriani! Un placer verlo crear música y buscar sonidos nuevos... Aquí un fan desde Vigo (España). Nunca dejes de tocar así
Awesome video. Satriani is the master of melody and professionalism. His band-mates are always top-notch too!
Right on. Thanks for sharing.
dream team 😍😍😍😍
Very cool video thanks for posting!
What an awesome collection of videos. A keeper for sure! :D
I love it when yous 3 get together, it brings back fond memories...

Awesome post Joe Satch. I felt like a fly on the wall. Enjoyed it.
thank you for this gift Joe :)
Don't know how missed this video but this footage is great, I still listen to this album often!
Joe satriani and team is amazing
thanks for the video, many thanks\
This is so cool - top 3 albums - neat to see behind the scenes of this lineup - the pedals - Joe with no sunglasses!
That red JS is a thing of beauty.... Love this era of Satch, so many great memories.
One of my fav Satch tunes!!!!

My favorite bass player.

great guitar playin
Favorite off this album is definitely The Souls of Distortion. It's got a vibe I really dig.
Very cool. Love that album, I think it's the first CD album I ever ordered from abroad.
Mestre é mestre
Best line up!
Never been more inspired by any other guitar player 🔥🔥👌
Cool
I love ❤️🎸👍😘♥️♥️
This might be the only time I've seen Lifestyle performed live. Just as awesome as that red JS1200 and the freaking Chrome Boy!
Cp was a masterpiece. So is shockwave tho. Joe's music is sublime.
1:20 minha música favorita desse disco
good video
i miss the 7 strings era 2002-2005 !
I hope they would've performed here If I could fly; that's my favorite of this album. Keep rocking, Joe!
Wow, never seen Joe Satriani with a 7 string before.
Damn if Joe sold tickets for this I'd buy it. Watching rehearsal live with 2-3 friends who's really into guitar instrumental music is heaven for me.
One of my favorite albums ever.. Legendary.. Thanks for posting. What does Gnaaahh mean? What is it about?
Satch is so concentrated .. very pro attitude to be the best on stage !!
Love Matt Bissonette's bass sound. Love his album he recorded with his brother on drums, called "Jughead", nice "pop" sound but recorded with heavy highly-technical instruments, a nice combo if you ask me xDDD
Les notes sont les paroles de l'amour notre source divine 🙏☀️🎛️🎸❤️👍😘
Très intéressant messieurs :-)
Best bass sound than other albums
Top
Man those guitars are nice... Wish I had one! :-)
Let's just put it out there.. If I Could Fly is the best song off this album and it's a crime Joe never performs it live.
+A Just tried searching for it again and it appears he played it in the Netherlands in late 2015. Only live recording I've come across but I'll take it!
+A ''Never performs it live?'' In fact he has performed it live many times on his recent tour.
satchfan2010 Yeah, the first tour in 10 years where he's done so, as far as I know.
Agree
He played it twice here in Illinois! Two nights back to back for the Earth Tour.
Hey Joe !
Can you teach that lick at 14:12 where your index finger looks rooted and you bend around the pentatonic scale ? I tried to do it but I can anchor my index that well and I think I am slowed down by excessive lifting off of fingers, can't finger out quite how you do it.
If you haven't heard Not of this Earth in a long time (or ever) then check it out! It's still my favourite Satch album :)
3:07 zakk wylde od 😱😱😱 satch using wylde od is a surprise
The first 30 seconds or so has a Robin Trower vibe to it 🤘💯
Played the living shit outta this CD... ✌️✌️🤟🤟🤟
Is that seven string on that first song? woah
You are right! I haven't seen! Since when does Joe start playing 7th string guitar?
Joe played some 7string songs on the "is there love in space" album and before, for example "Searching" and "Seven String" ... He didn't use a 7 string afterwards ...
JonesHvac that's right (in randy blythe s voice)!!!
That 7 string JS though
2:25 Wow, I never knew there's a 7-string JS guitar!
Holy shit, Joe used the Zakk Wylde OD on his board here!
What was your favorite song from this album?:
"is there love in path", incredible solo wahwah in the album give me chills all the time i listen to it (too bad that's not the filmed version in this video)
special love to "gnaahh" and "searching" too, and nearly all the album in fact^^
☺️❤️👍👌
hi hey joe! What wah are you using in this song ???? "Is There Love In Space?"
Man wish you'd play OKC
Poxa que pena, Marco Minnemann não está mais na banda. 😞
+Metalmagazine Drummer esse video é de 2004, comemorando 12 anos do cd " Is there love in space?". Os musicos são daquele ano.
Can someone tell me what is the name of this 7th string guitar? Looks like JS series but i cannot find anything similar.
Never went into production (alas!). Custom made for Joe.
First Satch record i bought
5:12 what's he using for harmonizer here? these are pre-fractal years
I'll never understand why that JS 7 string wasn't made into a production model, I would have loved it if was and if Joe wrote more albums on a 7 string.
Gaylen is a underrated guitarist
Man... to be Joes other guitarist says a lot!..
Is that just an octave pedal for is there love in space?
is that a proto JSX head ?
I think so, but you can see a genuine JSX head behind Matt Bissonnette when he talks about his minimal setup
Joe looks really tired in this video :\ Either that or he was in deep spacey concentration ;)
Anyway, I remember LOVING this album when I was about 16 and obsessively learning all the songs in the Tab book I got from the library! xD
One of my all time favourites! :D
Tired he was
@@xionilee3442 from the way he's like all the time throughout the video, I thought he was mad at something or someone.
wait ... what!!!??? ... is that 7 string that Joe's Playing? ....
+rangga aditya There's a song called '7 string' on ''Strange Beautiful Music''. You can guess how many strings Joe had on his guitar for that song.
I like the sound from the JSX better than the Marshalls. just my op of course.
at :08 I can't tell, but it looks like a XXX. It doesn't have any describable markings on it that give it away for me.
If you watch here :50 and look far stage right, you can see there is a JSX sitting there. I assume thats what Galen Henson is playing through.
Interesting to see Joe doesn't use reverb but use 3 delay pedals to make that reverb sound
i miss the 22 fret days.
wtf he was using wylde overdrive mxr pedal? looool

Errr this is 2004 not current band people
7 strings? anyone?
Why Satch left peavey for marshall? sounds better for me.
