It’s actually a G3 grabber and he didn’t use it on dookie, it’s was broken and he got it fixed before the tour but not int time to record, he did use it on Kerplunk tho
I would give anything to see them do an old-school 10 minute version of Paper Lanterns like they used to do back in the day, complete with covers and bullshit talking.
Ngl i think the 10 minute version of paper lanterns at Woodstock was more to do with happenstance than anything. Billie wanted to join the fight but Mike and Tre wanted to keep playing 💀
Mike Dirnt is literally the most fit looking member of any band ever! The dude just doesn’t age. He’s the next Mick Jagger. He’s also one of the most underrated bass players around.
no one- bassists, punks, or even most Green Day fans ever talk about his bass playing, but it's so vibrant and colorful with Billie Joe's usually simple punk guitar parts and Tre's crazy and crazy tight druming.

0:09 Hearing that bassline from mikes original G3 ripper he used on both dookie and insomniac is So good,
To bad billie didn’t used blue for this …

@@cash_lovell Just to add, he used a Fender Jazz Bass Special PJ for Dookie!
@@lakselv3768 yep, I didn’t believe it at first but the more I listen to it the more it makes since
@Cash_Lovell after doing some research it's a Gibson Ripper L9S ..since the Grabber has 2 knobs ...while Mike has a white one and 2 Og knobs
@@lakselv3768 ooooh
1:58 that hop back Mike does is brilliant 😍
Holy crap this is an OG classic from back in the day, they actually played it live!!
Yes and it was EPIC!!
Oh God! I got warped back to my teenage years as soon as that opening bassline hit! ❤
Thank you for recording this that's fantastic

In the Nimrod tour they played the best version of paper lanter for far.

@@littleredruribut it was more than Woodstock. They did it in a lot of other shows in 1993-95. Just what they did
@@littleredruri Jaded in Chicago was the best :)
