SAT Math: Mean Median Mode

  • This video explains SAT math problems involving mean, median, and mode. The mean is the "average", you add up all the numbers and then divide by how many numbers you have. The median is the middle value in the list of numbers. To find the median, you put the numbers in numerical order and choose the value that falls in the middle. The mode is the value that occurs most often. This video contains examples from the official SAT practice tests.

    How did you get the 900 Hundred in the last question? And the 50 too?

      if u make the sum of the numbers between 12-20 highest, u achieve the lowest value of 11th number

      there are 9 numbers between 12-20 and the highest value is 100 so 100x9

    I actually did not understand the 1st question, how do we know it's 1? we want 300th so that we make us chose 0.

      Nma Goran so 260 students have 0 siblings - so in order they are the first 260 - students number 261 through 450 have 1 sibling - since 300 is in this range, the 300th student has 1 sibling

      @@Ace.x999 what I understood was that it is like a list and the first 260 students are in the 0 siblings part, then in the 1 sibling part they count from de 261 until the 450 cause there are 190 1 sibling students and if u add them up its 260+190 = 450. the median is the middle number of the sum of all students, and because of that the student 300th would enter in the 1 sibling group.

      I can assure you that the answer is choice B (1)
      With the median you are looking for the middle number if you were to list out all of the numbers in order. your list would look like 0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,, ... up to the 260th number then it would look like 0,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1, ... up to the 450th and then 1,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,... up to the 540th then 2,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4
      for a total of 600 numbers
      the middle number would be the 300th number (or technically the number in between the 300th and 301st number)
      that number is either way in between the 260th and 450th number and would be 1

      Indeed it is one the reason is that there are a total of 300 entries and the median is between 149 and 151 entries , since there are 120 zeros and 80 ones the 149 and 151 is a 1. I thinks you confused us bay your red numbers did not really explain it. thanks.
