A bit personally disappointed that Mechanicum units aren't available to Ad Mech especially as most those units fill so many holes in their roster the fact no official legends rules is also very disappointing
@alltat GW accounts it's games separately, if you buy a 30k model the profits only count towards 30k. Of course the 40k team is blocking models that don't count towards their numbers.
I managed to find one box of those for cheap. Figuring one unit of 3 isn't enough to really do their thing anyway I built them as Sulphurhounds, because those models do look really cool.
It might be worth considering that the reason Ironstriders are the go-to for top tables over Ongers and Disintegrators is that Ironstriders have been good or broken for the last three editions; so competitive players have 9 already, and may not even own an onager.
Not sure how much this matters but skystalkers are the only admech unit that has the grenade keyword, so if they are shooting at something tough with only a couple wound left they can finish it off
@@CharlieALeigh in 9th edition there was the arc grenade stratagem for the skystalkers to deal mortal wound to vehicles only. In 10th the only other way to get grenades is to ally in a imperial agents unit/character that has it.
I do like rhe aesthetic of admec, but it is a shame their 30k units are not usable in 40k, which just doesn't make any sense for a faction that keep machine spirit running! I would like to collect them but they are too expensive so thought it would be good to get a few small units to go with my imperial guard but alas, no proper ally rules anymore.
As an Ad Mech player, my thoughts: -Vanguard are a 10/10 unit and arguably one of the best battleline units in the game -Rangers are a staple one-of unit and really solid for their sticky -Kataphron Breachers are terrible, one of the worst units in the book because they are so squishy for their cost. Their point efficiency is utter garbage. 3/10 is probably a better score tbh. -Destroyers are very close to Breachers in quality, just not worth playing. -Infiltrators are top drawer for sure, they have diminishing returns for running multiple, but you 100% want at least one unit of them in every list. -Rustalkers are very solid but the base sizes are a tough annoying, they can feel a bit worse than the bat boys, but you can index into them a bit. Totally fine 7/10 style unit. -Corpuscarii are fine, I think your rating is about fine, 6/10 is where I put them. They are brought down by the Data Psalm being a bad detachment. -Fulgurites hit super hard, but are difficult to leverage those attacks given their movement speed, you need to counter charge. -Skystalkers and Sterilyzers are great, some of the best units in the army. If you want a single utility unit, Skystalker is better and has grenade, if you want more units you max out with the sterilyzers to put out damage in weird places and stuff. -Raiders are very solid, very cost efficient and fits alongside Infiltrators/Skystalkers as top tier utility units that you want at least one of. -Hot Dogs are sadly not great when Raiders are just better. They still haven't even fixed the special weapon yet lol -Balistarii are great for sure -Dragoons are not quite as good as Balistarii, but are solid, your rating here is accurate. They can fall back through enemy units which is solid. -Sniper Dragoon is not worth taking when other chickens exist, only considerable with a skewed chicken spam list. -Kastellan robots are actually good, in cybernetica they basically sit there and chew up anything. It's a solid hammer that is very durable, I think they deserve a higher rating than you've given them here. They are detachment dependent though. Datasmith is always worth it. -Dunecrawler is sadly not very good. when you math it out based on cost, it's just not worth it. Unless you are using it to dinner plate objectives and use it's durability, it's definitely not worth the cost. I'd rate this a lot lower than you. (one of my fav models though, if we get as decent points drop this month, then sign me up) -Skorpius tank is a bit better than you give it credit for, it's really solid and a staple of a fair few lists now. -Dunerider is a 10/10 unit for ad mech. One of the best transports in the game. It's worth taking units just to stick in them. The only reason you don't see more is mobility around the board. -All the planes are bad. The transport one has some niche utility, but it's just not a thing you should ever be running. -Cawl is decent now. It does depend a little on detachment, he's very much a fine thing to flavour your list to taste. I like him more in cybernetica than Cohort. -Dominus I'd rate lower, it's kind of expensive and the units you want to put him in often aren't worth running with the extra character tax. -Manipulus is a bit better than Dominus, I'd still rate a touch lower than you, for similar reasons to the dominus. More of a Rad Zone special than a generic character you want. -Enginseer is great in cybernetica, but not great elsewhere, as your opponent won't shoot vehicles outside of that detach generally. -Techno is better than you give him credit for. He's very solid, second best character in the army. You can also use him to give Skitarii Data Psalm buffs. -Marshall, 10/10, best character in the army. -Stiltman isn't real, his goofy Inspector Gadget ass ain't doing anything.
Breacher is not that bad imo...yes they're over-cost, yes they're slow af, but they can actually turn almost EVERYTHING down if it's in rapid fire range🤔the AP and damge are both sweet🤔 They will be more worthy if GW double their shoots, and it's the only way🤦🏻♂️3/10 is just too harsh, maybe 6/10, or 7 if you have bias to them🤔
I agree on almost every point u make. Breachers are hella underwhelming if you dont run them with dominus and even then they are just so expensive. Skratos has only two uses imo and that is battleshocking units so they cant fire overwatch. The other use I found is the radial suffision enhancement on him in rad corps detachements. He is lone operative so you can basically let him sit on home objective while 6 inches out of opponents deployement zone is also affected. Makes him cost 85 points tho. I personally cant say Sulphurhounds are bad and if you for some reason dont have the points for ruststalkers I think they do a good job of tying up units and slicing through infantery.
Out of curiosity, what does the lists you run typically look like? I played Admech a few editions ago and am looking to get back into the hobby, would be nice to have an experienced player's take on a functional admech list.

I want to build my Kestelan Robots but I'm uncertain how to equip them. I do want to try using magnets to modify them if needed and I don't doubt that you could use melee or range focused depending on the situation or army you're against. Since I'm new to Warhammer40k I just wanted to get a little more info on their different weapons and if it is worth going full on melee or ranged or if I should try to cover both. I currently have two Kestelan Robots from the Elimination Maniple Box and tended to go for 1x Heavy Phosphor Blaster & Twin Kestelan Fist and 1x Twin Kestelan Phosphor Blaster & Close Combat Weapon. The reason I wanted to put a Twin Kestelan Phosphor Blaster on one of them and forgo the Kestelan Fist was because of the low range Weapon-Strength of 6 which might make the Kestelan Robots completeley redundant in ranged combat which I'm not really a big fan of since there are other close combat units and they're quite squishy in a direct confrontation considering their points investment. I could be absolutely wrong considering my thoughts on this so if anyone could correct me I'm open for it. Also there still stands the idea of magnifying the weapon attachments but I'd still like to hear your thoughts.
always go twin fists, the fists are the best weapons and you get reroll wounds (with reroll hits with stratigem), I personally go flamer for overwatch but thats down to personal preference
Post this after today's game versus admech 😂. I was too scared of a unit of three Sydonian Dragoons with my redemptor (Which literally couldn't have killed it in melee) and so I overcommit a more expensive squad
There isn't enough of a difference between the rangers and the vanguard. Scouts on rangers is largely useless given how weak they are and the need for batteline to trigger the 3rd pieces of the doctrina imperatives. You don't want to scout move them unless you're scout moving other units but all of those units scout move better than the rangers do so they end up either being held back from their full move or they leave their 3rd pip bonus from doctrina behind. If you're deadset on putting units midfield before the match starts, take a half squad of infiltrators. They're better at it and cheaper. Destroyers are better than breachers now once you consider their points costs. I can take a squad of destroyers and a squad of rangers to give them 3rd pip of doctrina for a similar cost to the breachers. AP -4 overcharged plasma caliver is not to be laughed at. Especially now with the FNP from the dominus working on the hazardous roll. Between that and being able to overwatch torrent weapons and then also the plasma calivers at 5+ hits for OW has been utterly devastating in more than a few games I've played.
Depends...if you need battleline to buff infiltrator, Ranger will be better, but if you need them take down light infantry, Vanguard is your option🤔 At the same way, if you need cheap fire and unit to overwatch, pick Destroyer, but if you need unit to deal serious damages, pick Breacher⚙️
The kastelan without doctrinas are massively overcosted. You would only score them in cybernetica. You list using stratagems as a positive but again, only in cyco can you do that. Compared to the score other good units have received, in the situation you would bring them, robots should have like a 8 to 8.5 score.
Tank shock with the dunerider is not to be scoffed at either. 85 points and you get a unit that can dump vanguard on a point and then charge and tank shock and enemy to bind them up. Dunerider should be 9.5
