The reaction many had to our South African singer Tyler has truly come off as Xenophobic. so I'm not completely convinced many Black Americans aren't and also take into account that anyone coming into your land from other continent, do it legally and don't just walk over your borders to build life and majority time at the expense and lives of that country they settle in because that's what's been happening over years in South Africa, our government has failed to protect us along our borders and put us at risk to being exposed to criminals entering, amongst those genuinely seeking to earn an honest living. Your words "we have been welcoming everybody into this country but have been taken for a ride and when our people react we get called Xenophobic, is exactly the description of what an ordinary South African has to endure, especially those in undeveloped townships because they are the ones mostly affected where illegal immigrants are moving in to live. Evidence of the illegality is past few months we've lost hundreds of kids across the country that got contaminated by expired and poisoned foods and snacks due to certain spaza shops, that run mostly by Illegal African immigrants, not being legally registered to trade and so avoiding health regulations and checks. Every American coming into South Africa legally accessed and that's why respect is given more, whereas unfortunately many African immigrants have made a bad name for themselves in South Africa and also in turn are making it so tough for their fellow legal African immigrants to live their ordinary lives in South Africa. Also mind you South Africa illegal immigrants are also from the East. Hence why I don't fully agree to hold the entire responsibility on Illegal immigrants but on poor governance and we just can't get these poorly led governance out of power because, many of us in South Africa have tried this year but they remain in power and one can just pray out country's people can feel so much safe in their own country.

I think its all about economics. Many African Americans uf they come here to make a life they always think about how the can start businesses and help our economy. They also always send good word out the the other still stuck in America to come. Also of my fellow African brothers amd sisters come here illegally and take the low skilled jobs. This is a problem because there are major issues with our own SA citizens not being able to find employment. If everyone had a job here i dont think "xenophobia" would be a thing. So its very simplistic to call us xenophobic when we just trying to earn a living. Plus its the white business owners that doesnt wamt to pay SA citizens with minimum wage so they use illegal workers so they can be exploited. So we dont subscribe to being exploited and want people to only come here legally but also in the same breath hold these big business accountable to pay their staff a decent wage. I havent even touched on the crime element but i think the economic part is one of the mai reasons. So African Americans dont fall into that category because they coming here to build and encourage more people to come and also build and invest.

Very well discussed topic without also forgetting the elephant in the room. Xenophobia is an issue within the country failing to deal with illegal immigration much like all the countries of the world with the same issue. These illegal immigrants are not exclusive to only African migrants but also Asian and Middle Eastern. Sadly when the poor get frustrated they act out the only way it makes sense to them... Black Americans in South Africa have formidable social capital, I think even more than Whites in South Africa. Whites might get treated better out if a feeling of the implied power they have, but Black Americans are treated better out of a feeling of genuine love and admiration.
Honestly speaking, if you guys were to move to South Africa, then what tribe would you identify as since your ancestors are from West Africa and not South Africa? You can't just identify as black in Africa because already the black race is the majority... You have to belong to a certain tribe.
@mphosa995 There are no traditional ceremonies that are done in the cities. In South Africa during Summer and Winter time most people leave the cities to stay in their houses in villages where traditional ceremonies are undergone. They will have to be like white people who stay in the cities.
@mphosa995 All that I know of. The city doesn't have enough space for traditional ceremonies like umgidi so people do it in their villages. There are very few that do it in the cities and it is not well received by the tribes.
@mphosa995 They do speak their home languages but the traditional ceremonies thing is not as frequent as the city doesn't have enough space but obviously traditional weddings can be done everywhere. Their a lot more to tradition than weddings.
If I was born a twin, the other being a girl she would've been named Nombuso. The problem starts with our government, the narrative they give out is that our foreign laws permits foreigners who are highly skilled or have the skills we lack in the country. But they fail to police the borders. The next thing you find an African brother or sister doing non skilled jobs. We find them in salons, restaurants, sides of the roads selling fruits and vegetables. We then ask ourselves how did they come into the country and to be doing the same non skill jobs while our government says the other. Most of them they stay with us in the townships and rent rooms from the very same supposedly xenophobic South Africans. Our democracy is still new we are just starting to fix our lives while trying to fix the damage done by apartheid.
SA can’t take on all of Africa, these countries need to work to make their countries better and stop overwhelming SA with all these people as it is not sustainable and SA has its own problems and can’t solve other countries problems by letting them over run SA borders it just makes things worse for everyone, stay and fix your own country
YOUR OBSERVATIONS REGARDING SOUTH AFRICAN’S TENDER LOVE TOWARDS AFRICAN AMMERICAN WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY PERHAPS NOT ALWAYS SO KIND TOWARDS AFRICANS FROM THE CONTINENT ARE TRUE. THERE ARE REASONS FOR THESE CONTRADICTING ATTITUDES REGARDING AFRICANS. THE WARMTH OF SOUTH AFRICANS COMPASSION AND LOVE CALLED UBUNTU IS NATURAL & THIS IS THIS NATURAL LOVE THAT CAUSED SOUTH AFRICANS TO FORGIVE OUR OPPRESSORS WHO INVADED OUR LAND IN 1652 WITH THEIR DESCENDANTS STILL OPPRESSING BLACK SOUTH AFRICANS EVEN TODAY. THE STRONG LOVE SOUTH AFRICANS HAVE TOWARDS AFRICAN AMERICANS IS DUE TO LEGACY REMOTELY CREATED BY AFRICAN AMERICANS DURING THOSE DARK YEARS OF APARTHEID. OUR EUROPEAN OPPRESSORS ISOLATED SA FROM AFRICA FROM AFRICA WHILE EXPOSING SA TO THE WEST. THE 1ST BLACKS WE SAW WHO LOOKED LIKE US WERE AFRICAN AMERICAN. WE LISTENED TO THEIR MUSIC, ENJOYED THEIR ENTERTAINMENT. AFRICAN AMERICANS OF OLD BECAME OUR ROLE MODELS. MANY OF AFRICAN AMERICAN LEADERS EMBRACED US DURING APARTHEID WITH MANY OF THEM COMING HERE IN SA AS FROM 1994. SO, WHEN AFRICAN AMERICANS WHOM WE SAW ON TV ETC OVER MANY YEARS WHEN THEY COME HERE, THERE IS THIS GREAT DEEP LOVE WHICH RISES OUT OF OUR HEARTS FOR THEM DUE TO FAMILIARITY AS THE RESULTS OF THAT LAGACY OTHERS HAVE CREATED DURING DARK DAYS OF APARTHEID WITH SOUTH AFRICANS OF MANY AGES EMBRACING AMERICAN CULTURE EVEN IN OUR DAY. THAT’S THE REASON FOR YOU TO EXPERIENCE SUCH LOVE FROM SOUTH AFRICANS ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY HEAR YOUR ACCIDENT. WE DON’T RECOGNISE AFRICAN AMERICANS BY THEIR LOOKS AS IN MOST CASES THEY LOOK EXACTLY LIKE SOUTH AFRICANS. SOME LOOK LIKE BLACK SOUTH AFRICANS, OTHERS LOOK LIKE SA COLOUREDS, INDIANS EVEN SA ASIANS. WE ONLY IDENTIFY THEM BY THEIR ACCENT. NOW WHEN IT COMES TO AFRICANS FROM THE CONTINENT, THEY UNFORTUNATELY DON’T ALWAYS EXPERIENCE PRIVILEGES CURRENTLY EXPERIENCED BY AFRICAN AMERICAN DUE TO THE LEGACY THEY HAVE CREATED FOR THEMSELVES SINCE COMING IN CONTACT WITH SOUTH AFRICANS IN 1994. PRIOR 1994, WE DID NOT KNOW THEM BUT THEN ANC OPENED BODERS IN 1994 & ALL KINDS OF AFRICANS(GOOD & BAD ONES) FLOCKED INTO OUR COUNTRY. THOUGH WE WERE STILL VERY YOUNG & TENDER BEING THE LAST COUNTRY TO BE LIBERATED, WE EXPECTED THEM TO TEACH US ABOUT LIFE AND ALSO HELP US TO LEARN ABOUT LIFE AS GENERATIONS UPON GENERATIONS OF BLACK AFRICANS LIVED UNDER OPPRESSION FROM EUROPEANS INVADERS AS FROM 1652 UNTIL 1994 BUT UNFORTUNATELY WHEN THEY CAME HERE THEY USED THEIR STRENGTHS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE TO TAKE ALL OPPORTUNITIES WHICH BELONG TO BLACK SOUTH AFRICANS. THEY EVEN TOOK SMALL JOBS SUCH S CLEANING/DOMESTIC, RESTAURANTS, FARMMS ETC WHICH BELONG TO POOR SOUTH AFRICANS TO THEMSELVES. ACTUALLY THE DESCENDANTS OF OPPRESSORS PREFER TO EMPLOY AFRICANS FROM THE CONTINENT THAN SOUTH AFRICANS WHO UNFORTUNATELY LACK SKILLS AS THEY HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED TO POOR EDUCATION & NONE AT ALL DURING YEARS OF OPPRESSION. BLACK GOVERNMENT WHICH CAME INTO POWER IN 1994 HAVE FAILED IN IMPROVING LIVELIHOOD OF ITS BLACK POPULATION INSTEAD THEY EMBARKED IN CORRUPT ACTIVITIES IN ENRICHING THEMSELVES AS YOU KNOW & DID NOT SHOW ANY PRIORITY WHEN IT COMES TO JOB OR EVEN IN OPPORTUNITIES TOWARDS ITS OWN COUNTRY MMEN/WOMMEN INSTEAD THEY ALSO VALUED & FAVOURED FOREIGN AFRICAN FROM THE CONTINENT THAN SOUTH AFRICANS WHO ARE NOW VERY POOR IN LIVING IN VERY POOR CONDITIONS. THERE ARE MANY OF THESE FOREIGNERS FROM THE CONTINENT & HAVE TRASHED OUR COUNTRY WITH MANY PLACES NOW BEING “NO GO” ZONES FOR BLACK SOUTH AFRICANS WHERE MAJORITY OF THESE AFRICAN FOREIGNERS LIVE. THEY ARE ALL OVER THE COUNTRY INCLUDING RURAL AREAS IN THEIR MAJORITY AND HAVE TAKEN OVER SPAZA SHOPS ETC FROM THE LOCALS. THESE ARE SOME OF THE REASONS THINGS ARE VERY SOUR BETWEEN SOUTH AFRICANS & FOREIGNERS. THESE AFRICAN FOREIGNERS AS YOU KNOW ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR VIOLENT CRIMES SUCH AS HOUSE BREAKING, HIJACKING, PROSTITUTION, CHILD TRAFFICKING, DRUGS, FOOD POISONING , BANK ROBBERIES & CASH IN TRANSIT ROBBERIES & MANY OTHER CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES WHICH NEVER EXISTED HERE BEFORE 1994. IN SOCIAL MEDIA ALSO WE GET ATTACKED BY SOME OF OUR CONTINENT BROTHERS & SISTERS, INSULTING & DEGRADING OUR SISTERS AS BEING SLUTS /PROMISCUOUS WHILE SOME OF THESE AFRICANS INSULT SA MEN. AFRICAN AMERICANS WHEN THEY COME HERE RESPOND WITH GREAT LOVE TOWARDS SOUTH AFRICANS & I AM NOT AWARE OF THEMMM GETTING INVOLVED IN CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES SUCH AS OUR AFRICAN BROTHERS FROM THE CONTINENT. SO, THEN YOUR OBSERVATIONS ARE DUE TO LEGACIES & EXPERIENCES CREATED BEING CREATED. BLACK SOUTH AFRICAN THOUGH ARE VERY COMPASSIONATE, FULL OF LOVE & WOULD LIKE EVERYONE TO COME AND LIVE IN OUR COUNTRY AS LONG AS THEY COME HERE LEGALLY & NOT INVOLVED IN CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES INCLUDING NOT TRASHING OUR ONCE BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY BEFORE AFRICAN IMMIGRANTS STARTED FLOCKING HERE. OUR INNER CITIES NOW WHERE THESE AFRICAN IMMIGRANTS DO THEIR BUSINESS ARE SO FILTHY WITH UNHEARD OF CRIME OF BUILDINGS HIJACKINGS. SO, WE DON’T HATE THEM SISTER, IT’S THE WAY THEY CONDUCT THEMSELVES IN OUR COUNTRY & THEIR IMPOSING O THEMSELVES INTO US

Absolute nonsense , we love our Africans especially in the southern African region , love our african American brothers and sisters. Never allow people with inferiority complex to make you think otherwise.
In SA it's disingenuous for the black Bantu to welcome people from outside , as this is not their country . The bantu are themselves foreign invaders from central Africa . SA is the indigenous homeland of the Khoi and San people . The black Bantu tribes are claiming what's not theirs .
Well that history was written by white people, the settlers . We are not taking that . Black people have been in South Africa . Long before white people came here. So how do they tell that we're are not from here? It's our land . They wrote that history to favour them so that they can have equal ownership to the land. They invaded this place . Get over your mind
Well , says who ? The settlers ? The colonizers of this land ? Ofcourse they wrote that history to favour them . Black people have been in South Africa way before they came here . This is our land
Xenophobia against African immigrants is well documented and very strong in SA, it often turns violent. Employers in SA historically prefer immigrants over locals. SA was built by immigrants from neighbouring countries, as well as slaves from India, Indonesia and Malaysia.

These nothing like xenophobia.
You get what you give in this country. Be kind you'll receive it. Do bad they will do the same.
That topic and term are irrelevant to us. We don't embrace labels imposed on us. We know what we know and act accordingly.
Then they will have to stay in cities.
Yes. Americans are welcomed in SA
Point of correction illegal immigrants
WE DON’T RECOGNISE AFRICAN
AMERICANS BY THEIR LOOKS AS IN MOST CASES THEY LOOK EXACTLY LIKE SOUTH AFRICANS. SOME LOOK LIKE BLACK SOUTH
AFRICANS, OTHERS LOOK LIKE SA COLOUREDS, INDIANS EVEN SA ASIANS. SO, WE DON’T HATE THEM SISTER, IT’S THE WAY THEY CONDUCT THEMSELVES IN OUR COUNTRY & THEIR IMPOSING O THEMSELVES INTO US
Well said
Is it a matter of African blindly falling divide and conquer brigade ? It may be too late when the wake up.Other Africans from countries on the continent also complain.
I wish people would stop asking this question. It's pathetic.
They can never embrace anyone, run for your life.they are haters! Soon you will be accused of stealing their jobs and women.run ,run, run! away!
Simple you are associated with MONEY
Absolute nonsense , we love our Africans especially in the southern African region , love our african American brothers and sisters. African Americans are the epitome of achievement and we are proud of martin Luther, Malcolm x , Marcus Garvey land many more luminaries.
@@OGNay says us coloureds , the direct descendants of the Khoi and San
Wtf?
Xenophobia against African immigrants is well documented and very strong in SA, it often turns violent. Employers in SA historically prefer immigrants over locals. SA was built by immigrants from neighbouring countries, as well as slaves from India, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Stop lying
So you literally typed a paragraph of lies lol
Lol, you heard through the grapevine didn't you?
🤨🤨🤨its the audacity for me, u full of BS
Built by immigrants? Are you erasing us from our country? Dumb lies!
I have been a fan of this channel for years but eish, xenophobia topic is far too nuanced than how you have phrased it my sister. It's a sensitive topic that needs adequate context, I am not invalidating your feelings but I strongly think broad brushing is an incorrect approach. 🤎🖤
I know the subject is extremely nuanced & I should have gave more context but didn’t want that to be the focus of this video. However, I did want to mention it because it comes up in the comments. It’s triggering even for Americans knowing our history & current situation. You make a valid point as I don’t want to give the impression that is all encompassing. I do appreciate you for giving me the perspective as a South African. Thank you ❤
Maybe the vlogger is Nigerian... strange
@@kezialovesupreme You will never get the real essence online, people will never say what needs to be said online, ever. Leave the topic my sister, it is highly triggering.
