    Man. Almost makes me cry. lol. Petrino got the Hogs back to a place I never thought was possible. Coming off that Cotton Bowl win we were a national power. Then April fools day happened and it's been bad ever since. These Bobby P years where so much fun.

      Then we were also exposed for Petrinos lack of recruiting skills, and lack of talent. He wouldve only won seven games with that team, which definitely would've been an improvement in 2012, but I dont think with that team , even Petrino woulde have made that much difference.

    Nice to see I am not the only one who went looking for this old video after the big news broke. Lol hopefully we can get back to this not just the wins but the players back then just seemed to play with a whole other level of intensity. They knew how to properly earn that Razorback name like a “wild band of hogs”

      @Bryan-ip1gf ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So true. I think he could do a good job of accounting for the speed of his receivers; neither leading them or under throwing. Each time they got separation from a defender, he just laid it in their hands.

    I just forget how much of a beast Dennis Johnson was. Joe Adams - brah - just speed speed speed and moves. How he avoided all those players and even went backwards 7 yards and then went scoreboard. And Mallet. What. An. Arm. Hitting receivers in stride. Those were the days. Fo sure.

As I’m watching it, I don’t know whether to cheer or whether to cry. Have you ever noticed that receivers were open 20-25 yards downfield as soon as Mallett turned to throw? He hardly ever needed to wait for receivers to finish their cuts and then find openings. I hope Petrino can bring those route techniques back to the offense.

    Knowing what we know now, would it have been better to have kept Petrino rather than suffer the worst stretch in Razorback football history? Unequivocally, yes.

    The theme in those years for Petrino were that he had Arkansas boys playing with hate in their heart for the other teams they were playing carrying the flag on their shoulders in every game. We lost some of that and need that real fire back in our players

    0:53 --- Michael Smith was part of the greatest backfield in the history of college football, although many seem to forget he was even part of that backfield because of the studs we had at the 1,2, and 3 spots. Darren McFadden, Felix Jones, Peyton Hillis, and Michael Smith -- hands down the greatest backfield of all-time. And that's not just me sounding off as a Hog fan homer. The stats don't lie. I forget if Smith went pro. But you had two-time Heisman runner up, two-time Walker Camp award winner Darren McFadden -- who's 3-year career stats are second only to the great Hershel Walker in the SEC. Then you had Felix Jones, who also went pro and had a solid career. Peyton Hillis, who is lucky to be alive after being in a similar incident as the late Ryan Mallett with a rip tide drowning on a FL vacation, even made the Madden cover one year (mind you, playing for the Browns). And the Smith got his chance to shine once those three went pro, although he was also part of a second VERY talented backfield himself during the Petrino years -- including one of my personal favs in Dennis Johnson, along with Ronnie Wingo, USC-transfer Broderick Green, and of course the great Knile Davis. So many good memories watching these highlights. #WPS

      @Michael-jw6et ปีที่แล้ว

      It was confirmed that a riptide is not what took Ryan Mallett. The waters were calm. Although no one came out and said it for sure, when his girlfriend made a statement on his death, she indicated he was on drugs and she tried to help him but couldn't. So, I took that as he was on something and went under.
