- A compilation of some of Darren McFadden, Felix Jones, and Peyton Hillis' highlights at the University of Arkansas. The trio of spectacular runners complimented each other perfectly, with each runner bringing a different set of skills to the table. Easily the best backfield of the last decade, their collective skills were so great that the Hogs didn't even need to use a quarterback for large chunks of games.

One of the best backfields in NCAA history.

No doubt -- two first round NFL Draft picks and another that made the Madden cover after going pro -- there was certainly no lack of talent between the three of them. Having played high school ball against Hillis, I feel a certain nostalgic wonder about this particular backfield too. Not to mention the fact that I still have my original DMac Heisman-candidate jersey as well, even if it's faded a bit. We may be getting older, but McFadden's career lives on as one of the best all-time in SEC history, amongst some of the great running backs to ever play the game. #WPS

As soon as the 2007 South Carolina game came on, I knew it would last a while. As a team Arkansas rushed for 541 yards that day. DMC set the SEC single game rushing record at 321 yards. Both he and Felix Jones passed 1,000 yards for the season on that game, McFadden becoming the second SEC back to ever rush for 1,000 yards in three seasons. The only other running back being Herschel Walker who is also the only running back with more rushing yards than McFadden in SEC history. Arkansas’ Alex Collins became the third to ever accomplish the feat this past season, and Leonard Fournette is looking to accomplish it this year, but it stood for a while, and I think McFadden has the second best career at running back in SEC history, Bo Jackson (even if he has more talent) coming in at third.
DMC’s career line against South Carolina (three games):
Recieving: 4 receptions, 10 yards
Passing: 1/1, 23 yards, TD
Rushing: 91 carries, 727 yards, 7.989 ypc, 3TD
760 total offense, 4 TDs.
Darren McFadden owned SC. And at times, I wondered if Arkansas shouldn't have just put McFadden at QB full-time. He was pretty good at it.
I do think that Leonard Fournette is a better runner than McFadden, as they are similar runners stylistically, but Fournette is bigger and doesn't fumble constantly.

I feel Hillis doesn't get enough credit, fact is, on almost every big play McFadden and Jones ever had , it was especially thanks to Hillis.

This was originally going to be just a Darren McFadden video, but I was like "Why not include his two Razorback buddies while I'm at it?" So that's how you ended up with this 27 minute monstrosity.
And I used to think that Gary Danielson and Verne Lundquist have gotten worse over the years. Nope, they've always been trash, or at least Gary.

Without question, the best backfield in NCAA history! Felix Jones and Peyton Hillis would have been a featured back at any Power 5 school in the country, but because they were behind Mcfadden, they were 2nd and 3rd.... imagine the production of Jones at 7.7 yds a carry had he been solo.... crazy talent!!

McFadden played for like ten years. The average time for a RB in the NFL is a few years.

McFadden played longer and had a better career than both Tim Tebow and Troy Smith, who each won the Heisman over him. He had a couple of thousand yard seasons and managed to stay in the league for a decade.
Felix Jones was in the NFL for six years, five with the Cowboys, and was a good depth piece in that Cowboys backfield.
Peyton Hillis was in the league for 7 years, broke 1000 yards rushing one year, as a Fullback, and made the cover of Madden.
I'd say those are all pretty successful careers.
