    Brother Wilcox is an awesome speaker! I learned more about grace from him than from anyone in my whole life.

    Grace is like time as acceleration is integrated twice into position. Where works can be seen as acceleration, and faith as velocity; with position as salvation.

    According to the Book of Mormon, Moroni 10:32, grace only comes after you have denied yourself of all ungodliness.

      Noah Cutshaw I don’t agree with you. I can see why you might see it that way though. I know that without His grace and His help and His atonement, I could never of my own power attain a denial of all ungodliness and a whole hearted love for Him. This process is something we do in conjunction with Him. It also says in Ether 12:27: “And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.” This shows that he extends his grace as we overcome our weaknesses and not after.

      Phoenix Jano so your point here is to make it so the Book of Mormon is self contradicting? It seems you’ve done my job for me.
      As you can see from Moroni 10:32, it is an “if/then” statement. You get grace in exchange for denying yourself of all ungodliness. When you do this, then is it sufficient for you, before hand, it is not, according to the passage.
      By the way, Grace is not “divine help”. It is favor given to one who does not work (Romans 4:5, 11:6).

      Noah Cutshaw my point is to uplift people and to point them to Christ. My point is to testify of Him. From the way you worded your first statement, it can be taken as a sincere comment and so I responded to that as I saw it by testifying of Christ and my experience with Him. I find I would rather expend my energy building others up.

      Phoenix Jano if you are encouraging them to follow the Jesus of Mormonism, then you are leading them to a false Christ who cannot save.
      My uplifting message is that the real Jesus, the One who has eternally been God and is the Creator of all things can save men, not by works of obedience, but by faith.

      @@noahcutshaw9856 I have sufficient for my needs, implies I have enough and I am content with what I have.
      When you take off your blinders, this grace is sufficient. If your going to fight and resist and never be happy how can you appreciate what's been there your whole life. It's there you just don't know it. For example, I want a Harley street glide. It's beautiful. Blacked out. It's sweet. I want it now. Never mind I got a boat a truck a house... I should be content with my family and the gospel of christ. These things are truly sufficient. But when my mind gets on a one way track with that Harley... I put my family and the gospel 2nd and I start to forget the blessings and the peace and the grace that's staring me right in the face. But all I see is a blacked out Harley street glide. Moroni 10:32 actually is sound advice. Put God first and see that his grace is sufficient..

    I ran across a note about the word translated as "confess" in rom 10:9. It is 'homologeo' which means acknowledge, make a public declaration. And is used to describe a soldier swearing thier oath of allegiance. And I realized that when we take the sacrament we publicly declare our decipleship to Christ.

    Mohammad Ali once said if you are the same person at 60 that you were at 20 you have wasted 40 years of your life. I expect it will be the same in the eternities to come.

    When he related the structural flaws of the Kirkland temple and likened it to our being acceptable to the Savior despite ours, I cried. I am working through mental health issues. My home is dirty and cluttered. I often feel helpless and hopeless as I consider how much I still need to do. I often feel terribly unworthy. Now I have assurance that as long as I move forward in faith, I'm acceptable and so is my home; He doesn't want me to feel ashamed and discouraged; He wants me to progress through His grace. I've heard many of these ideas before, but that analogy really moved me.

    30:30 To start, this is a great talk and I'm really enjoying what you're saying, in other words, I'm agreeing with you. :) Something I think everyone overlooks, both evangelicals and Latter-Day Saints, is there's still the millennial kingdom we all have to go through, and where the dead are at now is not their final resting place. Barring the long explanation as to the whys of it, allow me to explain a bit and I'm sure you'll see my point, I am at a loss as to why most people overlook this.
    OT dead people went into "soul sleep", to coin a phrase, in Sheol, the place of the dead. There they stayed until Christ died, went down into Sheol and freed them. Then they all went to what's translated as "paradise" but the Greek actually means "nature preserve" and God's nature preserve is the Garden of Eden, which is also an old Jewish tradition that the dead return to the Garden of Eden. This idea lends itself to things like eternal marriage, what you see in the Garden we'll have in the afterlife until Christ's return. Then we'll all meet Him here, fight the first battle, defeat Satan, put him in prison for 1000 years and we'll rule as Kings and Priests with Jesus. After the 1000 years are over Satan is released, gathers an army, there's the final battle of Armageddon, the Great White Throne Judgment, and then the new Kingdoms.
    53:34 Way too complicated an answer, it's really a simple thing, works cannot produce "salvation" per-se, it only comes through faith, BUT faith without works is dead, so if you have the required faith it would produce those works, but works don't produce faith.

      Salvation vs exaltation.

    • @shellback1984
      @shellback1984 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kenyon Mitchell yes, but that’s beyond many to understand or accept. Christ has saved us from death, that is for sure but we are to be judged and where do many think they will spend eternity? As it says no one can truly be saved without being obedient to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

    • @kenyonmitchell8377
      @kenyonmitchell8377 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shellback1984 true but we have to understand that our works (obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel) do not save us but allow us to be exalted through the power of Christ's Atonement.

    • @shellback1984
      @shellback1984 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kenyon Mitchell the works of ordinances are also a part of God’s Grace to help us get there. Ordinances are nothing more than keys 🔑 to be able to unlock and walk through a locked door. One must choose to accept the ordnances to enter at the strait gate. No one is forced to work toward exaltation. Salvation is freely given but exaltation must be worked toward but the gifts to help us get there are still under Gods Grace. Christ will help us carry the load but won’t do it for us for he has already done that.
