I also have said axe. I got rid of the set screw by taking the axe head to a local hardware store and finding a small bolt that threads into said hole. I picked up some Blue Loctite, added a small drop the the new bolt, screwed it into said hole till it was just flush on the inside. Waited 24 hours for the Loctite to set up. then I cut the head of the bolt off, as flush to the axe as possible. then using a file and fine sand paper. Got the bolt sanded down flush with the axe head. I have yet to blue mine, but that is the next step. Its a fine axe.
I start with a dremmel with a cutting wheel to establish a line then follow up with different shaped files. Lock the axe head in with a vice and please do mind the edge 👍🏼
Thats amazing. I wish there were places that sell Viking Axes that already look like that lol.
But the joy, is doing it yourself. Making the Axe your own. Bluing is easy. Its a great axe.
Astonishing axe reborn! I am really amazed by its historical details and beauty!!! Leather parts are fantastic!
Thank you. Really appreciate your comment.
Beautiful work, especially the leatherwork!

Great work looks amazing, can you explain how we can file the axe head, looks so cool.

I use a either a round aka rat tail or triangle file.
How did you get the Taiwan off the axe head?
During the process I not only used “zip” strip to remove any laquer from the axe head but also sanded it.
This looks great! Do you remember what wood stain color and brand you used? I wanna stain my Cood Steel warhammer the same.
It might be walnut.
The brand escapes me at the moment. I purchased it from Home Depot.
It’s all good brother! I’m sure I’ll find it with the info you gave me. I appreciate your time and video!
