My 10 year old daughter has been reading the Bible and she read this chapter tonight. I had the pleasure of showing this to her after she read it. I asked her, "Where do you see Jesus in this?" And she replied "The lamb" It was awesome being able to use this video to illustrate how Jesus became the sacrifice in our place.
Also that God actually had to have his son sacrificed on our behalf. The whole point of animal sacrifice was to cleanse and put to death the sins of man on the life of an animal. Jesus took on every sin imaginable to the point that he felt forsaken by his father and then died. God was really teasing the main event all the way back in the beginning.
This was one of the most tear-jerking moments for me in this series. In this single moment, God demonstrated to Abraham that He alone was supreme. That it was His alone to command life and death. You know it had to hurt Abraham terribly but he knew that God had reasons that were His alone. Abraham proved he trusted God, and for his faith, God made him father of a nation.
You can also see how much Abraham loved and valued his son- his ONLY BEGOTTEN son. It also tells us the Father so loved the world that He was willing to give His own only begotten Son to die for us. If Abraham was alive when Jesus was crucified, no doubt he would've nodded in understanding at what God had done to save humanity- the same thing that God had told him to do, He also did, and he knows very well what it must've been like for the Father even if the Son was to rise again after three days.
This has always been the hardest story for me to read in the Bible. It wasn't until I learned that God actually despises child sacrifice that I realized He would never have let Abraham hurt Isaac in the first place. It was all purely a test of faith after all. The Father Himself, however, would be willing to give His Son as a sacrifice for the sins of all humanity. It was all part of His plan to restore creation.
To understand this scene you first need to understand the seriousness of what sin is in God' perspective. If the result of "sin is death" (which is why the state of death exist in this world) then to truly escape from sin is to have an alternative solution that is equal to the result of death which the only way is through a "blood sacrifice" (making someone else die to pay for your sins). God speaks in parables and there is a hidden truth to this scene, when God told Abraham to sacrifice (blood sacrifice) his son, HE wanted Abraham to know what it feels like to sacrifice your own son for sin. But before Abraham plunged the knife into Isaac God shouted at Abraham to stop him and HE said "I WILL PROVIDE". And HE did, HIS son JESUS CHRIST.
Well in reality, people don't really die of old age. They die of illness as a result of a weakened immune system due to advanced age. It has nothing to do with sin.
I’m always in awe of how layered these stories are. Whether you believe or don’t believe you can always find meaning in these stories, and it was probably especially meaningful for ancient people. This moment especially shows the pain Abraham and fathers like him must go through, as nothing is more painful than the death of a child especially if you are the one to blame. It also is a great contrast to the mentality that the older and younger generation always have to be at each other’s throat. Generation after generation you hear people saying the new generation is ruining everything and if you get rid of them things will be alright. Well here God gives Abraham the choice to do it, and instead of joy the scene shows Abraham in pain as any real father would. And then in one felt swoop God reverses the story of generational conflict saying this shouldn’t be the way we treat each other and it’s not for a father to wipe out the son
We've heard of MANY people killing others, even their very children, soley because 'voices in their heads' told them to do so. The only FAITH Abraham had, was to do whatever 'demonic voices in his head', told him to do. Research: "Voice of God" technology.
1 Of the hardest Tests in life . We must give worldly things to prove to God he Comes First in our Lives . Just as Abraham was willing to give his Son back to God
The test is so hard, that most people do not understand it :( Remember you must do the right thing to pass :) Do not be selfish or afraid of what will happen if you get it right :) yoU aRe I aM
+Michel Lavergne What a sickening concept. If this truly was a test of Abraham's faith, out of *_all_* the methods God could've chosen to do so, why would He ask Abraham to *_kill his own son and offer him up as a sacrifice?!_*
@jzdun545 .. Nothing (The Most High ) requires is Incorrect ...All Things is Perfect ...you dont understand why he asked such thing ...but you will when The World Wrap in Darkness 🌍
So God whom people and civilizations have been worshiping and call upon in their own language(god in whatever language) is whose name suddenly changed to "yesuah" not even jesus you guys call him today (non of his prophets before christ called him that) ?? You guys are not for real, better stop worshiping another prophet because he did miracles some other prophets before him did and you guys couldn't comprehend it
when God allows temptation to come into our lives He doesnt do it so that He can gain knowledge about us but rather so that we might gain knowledge about ourselves God knew what abraham would do but both abraham and isaac needed to learn from their own choices in life and they needed to learn about the theological value of the sacrificial lamb I cant believe that some people who have left comments before dont see this of course God knows the future time is the canvas God does His paintings on
Such a powerful scene and great example of the huge amount of faith Abraham had in God. May we all strive to have faith like this! Very beautifully done ❤
Abraham trusted and loved GOD so much he believed if he sacrificed his son . GOD would rise him up from the dead and they would pray again . That’s such superior beautiful faith .
You are absolutely right but after this you have to read about Karbala what happened to the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH. Just have a look on that chapter of history and you will find that helping to collect the scattered chain to combine.
@@naseemzaidi8 This story is NOTHING SHORT OF PSYCHOTIC. In 2024, if a person did this, it would be literally considered textbook SCIZOPHRENIA. But because this SILLY STORY is "allegedly" 2000 yrs old, BILLIONS OF PEOPLE accept this ABSOLUTE LUNACY as HOLY TRUTH.
Goosebumps !!! Abraham just followed “GOD” WITHOUT ANY QUESTIONS !!! Abraham showed to “GOD” in actions and in his heart how he followed and obeyed… “GOD” That is the moral of this scene !!! How sincere we are in our faith ???
This story and scene is so clear to understand. There could be no possible way God would want the death of Isaac or any human. Therefore... God was testing Abraham to see how far he would go, to be the father of a nation. God is love and had Abraham killed his son, he would have failed the test. God intended all along for the goat to be the sacrifice. Clearly some people need to read the story and get an education tom understand it better.
The god of Abraham is a sick tyrant for seeking this level of servility. This is tyranny at the level of Kim Jong Un. Besides, shouldn’t an all-knowing god already KNOW Abraham’s degree of dedication to his master’s will? Why test him if you already know?
This shows that family and friends in this world are worth nothing compare to the grace of God .....no one or nothing in this world can buy his grace only our faith in him❤...Godbless everyone❤❤❤❤
Christians say God was testing him to see how much Abraham loved him. I never understood it because God would have already known Abraham’s heart. What was the point of mentally and emotionally scaring a child?
The whole point of it was to test Abraham's loyalty to God because God was going to establish his covenant with him and his descendants. God wasn't actually going to make him do it. It kind of like a fall test if that makes more sense.
David the Prince still doesnt make any sense. god knows everything. he should have known from the beginning that abraham was loyal to him. this whole fake sacrifice setup is pointless.
When my father told me this story he said that if it were him he wasn’t sure if he could do it. I told him if God ever asked him to sacrifice me then I would be scared to die but I would understand that God had good reason and that I would forgive my father. He looked at me stunned.
That's what Isaac did to....contrary to how the movies like to portray him, Isaac was no whimpering boy but a young man at that time...a young man willing to submit, along with his father, to God's will
@@undrielgrenger53 In Islamic view its different Ishmael was the one to be sacrifice and willing to do it with his father. This does not excuse this monster called "God Yahweh, Allah ,etc.; for asking him to offer his life. Bible, Quran and any other holy books are all fictional books. Abraham Religions (Christianity, Judaism and Islam) are all based on a fictional books.
@@MrZedLy First, Hebrews 11 shows us that Abraham's faith in Christ was so matured at this point that, he actually believed that if God let him go through with the sacrifice, He/God had the power to bring Isaac back from death right on that mountain. I don't believe in the Islamic view because the Islamic view is not a testimony of Christ....which the Whole of the bible showing God's dealings with mankind was a symbol of.....that's why Jesus said in John 5 "you search the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life...and they are they which testify of Me". So, the whole Abraham by faith offering Isaac was a direct Testimony to the whole world, of the sacrifice which the Son of God would endure in order to save mankind from eternal ruin. Isaac, being a willing victim (as according to the bible record, he was at least a young man between 17-26 years old, not a tiny kind like here) , was a TYPE of Christ, the willing Lamb of God who suffered in His Person, the awful penalty of sin which is the pangs of the second death---in which there is NO HOPE of a Resurrection and the victim is Totally Forsaken by God to experience the torturing guilt of sin--so that mankind by accepting His gift of salvation through faith in Christ...might escape such a fate and become the sons of God in Christ. This was the TRUE meaning of this alter, altering the sins from the individual and placing them upon Christ, the living Sanctuary and High Priest-see Exodus 28:38 and Numbers 18: 1, 22, 23, Leviticus 10:17, 2 Cor. 5:21, 1 Peter 2:24, Galatians 2:20--- This is why Jesus suffered so extensively in the Garden of Gethsemane (see Psalms 22, Psalms 40, Psalms 69, Psalms 81, Isaiah 53:6,10-Luke 22:42-44, Mark 14:33, Matthew 26:37,38; chapter 27:45,46) and on Calvary. Jesus suffered the full weight of the cup of the WRATH of God-see Romans 5:9 (which is God's abandonment/forsakening of the sinner to the full consequences of his sins-see Romans 1), feeling the crushing weight of the guilt of Every Man's sins in pressing upon His mind, And died a death in which He could feel No Hope He was ever coming back from the grave a conqueror over sin and death...but because His mind was completely submitted to the will of His Father- (which is the True meaning of the golden crown on the High Priest's forehead inscribed with those words "Holiness to the Lord"--kodesh Holiness is the same Hebrew word for saint and sanctuary, because it represented the Mind of Christ-the True High Priest of which the earthly priesthood was merely a type-which was filled with the Perfection of Gold--the pure Love of God for suffering humanity) and because of His prior knowledge of the great, unceasing love of God for sinful humanity (John 3:16, Hebrews 12:2), By FAITH, Christ held on to God loving us to the very end (John 13:1)--until His humanity could take the pressure no more, and He died of a broken heart, as evidence by the streams of blood and water flowing from His heart when it was pierced by the Roman spear. So, while you view the alter as a place of God being a butcher....I see it in totally different eyes...I see this story in Genesis 22, and all the other examples of the sacrifices and the applications of the blood which was used throughout the sanctuary which God gave in a system of types and symbols to Israel....I see this story as the Most Beautiful illustration of the plan of salvation which was ever shown to mankind... That as Isaac, also being a type of mankind- the human race...was doomed to die for the fearsome consequences of man's own sins....God said to Abraham--Stop...take your son off the alter and put the ram (the representation of Christ, the Son of God) in Isaac's place...showing that Christ, the innocent Lamb of God would leave His position as Commander of the heavenly hosts (Joshua 5), lay aside the independent use of His power "I can, of My own self do Nothing", and take upon His holy, sinless nature...our fallen sinful humanity with all its frailties and weaknesses, and within that humanity (Hebrews 2 and 4)...and by the virtual of His connection to God through the power of the Holy Spirit...He would overcome every temptation and sin within that humanity and would not permit those sins to come into His mind and express them in His conduct despite the worst torture and abuse He received... and He would permit those sins to take Him down to a cruel death (in Gethsemane and Calvary) in which He could see no hope of His coming back from the grave a conqueror... To Abraham and to Isaac, and to us who believe in Christ...that was the Greatest exhibition of the Love of God ever revealed to fallen man (that God/Christ So So loved His rebellious, sinful world...that He would risk His own eternal existence in order to save it) and that is why Jesus said of Abraham in John 8: "Your Father Abraham Rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it, and was Glad." That is the God I serve... thank you Lord Jesus....may the church say, Amen
@@undrielgrenger53 Bible is a myth anyways. I was raised as a christian and read the bible; I become Agnostic afterwards. I do NOT believe any of the Abrahamic Religions (Christianity, Judaism and Islam)
Read Chapter 11 of the Epistle to the Hebrews. Abraham had so much faith that he believed that even if Isaac died, God could bring Isaac back from the dead.
This story as described in the text, is extremely challenging to come to terms with. And then for the New Testament to esteem Abraham so highly for his faith is a challenge too. Is it moral to test a person's faith or devotion to ask them to sacrifice their child? And would Abraham be detained in a psychiatric unit for life if he even tried this today. This particular story is at the heart of monotheistic faith, Islam, Judaism and Christianity, and several others esteem Abraham highly, yet both God and Abraham don't look good. Isaac must have been traumatised of these events occurred as written.
Read the bible with clearer eyes....Isaac was a young man himself at the time who willingly submitted to the test...the bible clearly tells us that there was no struggle and the experience only sealed both Abraham's and Isaac's faith in God as Isaac becomes very close to God himself after Abraham's death...
It doesn't matter how or who dismantles the story, and puts it under the microscope to try and make sense of it, it's barbaric, immoral and pathetic. Anyone seeing good in this is ill.
God, may I have the faith of Abraham!!! Yet, Father, you gave EVERYTHING for me. You gave the most precious thing you had, Your Son. I am forever grateful!
Emotional. However there is no sign of Isaac struggling in the bible. Also Isaac, in this part of the story, is depicted as a ‘type of Christ’, like Adam, Moses, Joseph, Samson etc and would therefore have known he would be the sacrifice after asking his dad where the sacrifice was, as this is a prophecy of what Christ would do 2000 years later. And we know that Christ went willingly to the cross knowing what he would endure. In this scene, Isaac did not go willingly. I also think he would have been a bit older than that.
Isaac was a young man at the time who willingly submitted because of his own faith and trust in God and in his father...the movies like to portray him as a young boy
Soren Kierkegaard deserves a comment: When Abraham and Isaac reached the place that God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound Isaac, lit the fire, drew his knife, and thrust it into Isaac! At that moment God stood by Abraham’s side in bodily form and exclaimed: “What have you done? Oh wretched old man! That was not what was asked of you at all. You are my friend, I only wanted to try your faith! I called to you at the last moment. Didn’t you hear me? I cried, “Abraham, Abraham, refrain!” Didn’t you hear my voice? Then Abraham answered God with a voice that betrayed a half mystic adoration and a half disheveled weakness that belongs to mental derangement: “Oh Lord, I did not hear you. Yet now that you mention it, I seem to remember that I did hear some kind of voice. Oh when it is you, my God, who commands a father to murder his own child, then a man at such a time is under terrible strain. Therefore, I did not hear your voice. And if I had, dared I have believed it was yours? If you commanded me to sacrifice my child, which you did command me to do, and then at the decisive moment a voice is heard saying, ‘Refrain,’ am I not obliged to believe it is the voice of the Tempter that wants to keep me from fulfilling your will? I had journeyed long, and now, when the moment at last had come, I was intent on doing only one thing. My options were: Either I should have assumed from the start that the voice that spoke to me, ‘Sacrifice Isaac,’ was the Tempter’s voice, and then not gone forth as I did, or when I had assured myself that it was indeed your voice from the start, I should have concluded that this other voice, this voice at the decisive moment, was the Tempter’s. It was the latter I chose.” So Abraham went home, and the Lord gave him a new Isaac. But Abraham did not look upon him with any joy. When he looked on him he shook his head and said, “This is not my Isaac.” But to Sarah he spoke differently. To her he said: “This is all so very strange. That it was God’s demand that I should offer Isaac is certain, absolutely certain. God himself cannot disavow that. Yet when I took it seriously, it was a mistake on my part. It was, in the end, not God’s will.” Yet, as we know from the story (Gn. 22), it did not go like this with Abraham. His obedience lies just in the fact that at the very last moment he immediately and unreservedly obeyed as he did. This is amazing. When a person has for a long time been saying “A”, then humanly speaking he is rather bothered at having to say “B.” It is even harder, when one has actually drawn the knife, to be able and willing, with implicit obedience, to recognize that after all no demand is made, that it is not necessary after all to set forth to Mount Moriah with the purpose of sacrificing Isaac. The decision whether to sacrifice one’s only child or to spare him, oh, this is indeed great! Greater still, however, is it to retain, even at the last moment, the obedience, and if I may venture to say so, the agile willingness of an obedient soldier. Such a one, even when he has almost reached his goal, does not mind having to run back again, even if it renders all his running in vain. Oh, this is great! No one was so great in faith as Abraham - who can comprehend him?
even if it hurts sometimes we have to sacrifice something from this world and trust God . i know this is all a test but sometimes we need to sacrifice not this kind of sacrifice tho . It hurts but we're living for the Lord not for the world . In other us to break free from prison we need to sacrifice things and we should obey the Lord . Im crying because i just let go something important to me and trust Him with it . I dont know His plan but i let go and Trust him if this will free me from my strongholds then Lord i lay all to you .
Why does God love people who are willing to kill their family members for Him so much? Do you remember the story of when Moses came down from the mountain and saw the golden calf that His brother Aaron had made causing God to have Moses have the people start slaughtering each other? I remember that God rewarded that slaughter where people attacked each other by making those willing to slaughter their own children and siblings for God (the Levites), His favorite and eternal priest class. Start with Genesis 32:17 for that. Why did God massively reward those willing to sacrifice and slaughter their own family members for God? I remember how Abraham found favor in God's eyes by being willing to slaughter his own child, Isaac in Genesis 22. Do you remember how Jephthah was favored and aided in battle by God because He was willing to and did slaughter his only child as a blood sacrifice to God in Judges 11? Why does God love people who are willing to kill their family members for Him so much? Is it because God planned on killing His own child in the future?
Josh Gulick Yes, but God actually hates child sacrifice. It's why he made sure that animal sacrifices were the norm for sins and such- and why He gets mad whenever someone actually does so. Only for sins where animal sacrifice could not atone (desecrating the Tabernacle, for instance) was a human killed. But the thing is: God was the one who slayed the sinners in those cases.
OH, and let's be realistic here. In real life, how is Isaac going to feel toward his daddy knowing he was millimeters away from murdering him? In real life, Isaac would now know his father is a sociopath, and would try and find some way to flee and get free of him. Or at a minimum would now realize his father is a VERY evil man, and would shrink from him, not cry sympathetic tears against his father's chest. You can even see the child actor playing Isaac not buying it when he's called upon to hug the sick bastard as part of his act. Watch his face. He's thinking "yeah, like I'd really do this if this were real life....NOT".
I think he did kill Issac and the bibles authors covered it up. If you read the story, you will notice that Abe came back alone. Also sacrificing the eldest child was common practice at the time. If the family had enough money, they could redeem the child with the blood of a lamb, ie., buy a lamb an sacrifice it instead.
+Ki Avalon God has never asked anyone to murder children in the entire Bible, except for the sacrifice. Sacrificing children was common in other religions. If he actually did murder Isaac, how would the covenant of Abraham having many descendants be fulfilled?
Abraham's faith is what saved him and his son. Our lives are hard but as long as we have faith in the lord. He will provide and to be one with god is better than anything on this earth.
@@shiprahyisrael7867. I support you, sometimes the film makers have little understanding of the Bible. They get some things right while others wrong. Stay to the Bible not these white man's manipulation
That was moving and well-done. But if you have hired a believing Bible scholar as a consultant, and you claim you wish to accurately portray the text, why change the ram to a lamb? And why not have the Angel of YHVH call Abraham's name twice? These are small things that do not hurt the film but do give a false picture to those who have not actually read the book.
OKandNOWwhat Films like this are meant to encourage people to read the book. Of course, people have stopped reading a lot of books these days so the function IS becoming obsolete, but it's meant to be an education starter.
Are we willing to sacrfrices those dearest to us for something higher than ourselves, for the greater good? That's what a normal person like me get from this.
Just like a Mayan priest sacrificing many hundreds of children to Kinich Ahau, who has great faith. This is indicative of a evil God with a deranged mind who is willing to lie to his followers, and to prepare them to commit atrocities.
@@markkennedy1743 I did read the bible. First Yahweh told Abraham to sacrifice his son. Abraham went to sacrifice Isaac, then a ram showed up. In other words, Yahweh lied about the need to sacrifice Isaac to Abraham. This could be justified if Abraham was merely confused; but, the bible explicitly states that God ordered Abraham to sacrifice Isaac. This before the portions of the bible where Yahweh orders his people to commit genocide against the Midianites, then the Canaanites -- oh, and rape their wives. Dash their babies against rocks. You might as well be worshipping Cthulu, good sir. Or the Aztec sun God. Or Baal. Yahweh is an evil God if we assume that the bible is divine revelation. If we assume that the Old Testament was merely fabricated by early Canaanite/Jewish leadership, then the assertion that Yahweh is evil has a chance to be wrong. Then again... if the new testament is to be believed; then Yahweh had Jesus sacrificed to atone for the sins of the many. Jesus was supposed to be his son. This would mean that human sacrifice is still on the table. This also elevates him from merely deranged to full-scale, foaming at the mouth, batshit crazy. He is an evil God, through and through. So... which one is it? Is the bible completely divine revelation? Or is it part divine revelation and part fabrication by the priest caste? Or is it completely a fabrication? Great faith that leads to great evil should be derided, not praised.
I love this, God is amazing. and he loves us all so much. I cried through this because the thought of him doing that is so sad yet Abraham was proven trust and faith in God that's why is called Friend and Father of many nations. GO ABRAHAM. YOU ARE MY IDOL AND SO IS GOD AND JESUS.
I do worship my God people like u should pay more attention to what people say when I said he was my idol I meant I take Abraham's story and use it to help me figure out some situations in my life so I call him my idol because I look at Abraham as hero
I'm not sure what the ancients were eating back when these events occurred or on what land they inhabited being that they always seem to travel long distances with child. My point is I see a lot of natural matters playing in this scene, Abraham is going through a mental shift hearing a voice asking for sacrifice of Isaac and we see because I know y'all see this too we see wood and big boulder rocks as Abraham and Isaac are traveling up to the mountains for said sacrifice and Abraham is distraught about what he's about to do while he's in the moment he's generating the horrific images and he's pleading for a halt to this, the connection between him and isaac speaks and screams finally this is my child. The mother connection between Isaac and his mother can be felt as she is running to find them after she realizes a few things in her surroundings I don't want to say she called him out of his mental illness but we can clearly see. Acknowledgement, postpartum depression in the family line, traveling unknown lands, redeeming relationships.
the binding of Isaac foretells the Gospel of Jesus Christ, when Isaac asked his father Abraham "where is the lamb for the burnt offering" to which Abraham responded "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son."
ABRAHAM trusted in God.This is called the Faith Rest.We as believers in Jesus Christ have believed for the Grace of God in Salvation. Eternal Life we must always trust him for everything in our life.Just like ABRAHAM did.He staggered not in unbelief. But IN Belief..Faith this was his testing.
Kind of sounds like an opinion based on the past pain and hatred of your own self. I think y'all need more of deeper understanding with a peaceful mind. I truly wish for you guys to be at peace and let go what happened in the past. Peace and love
Very very disappointing. On a number of important matters this diverges from Scripture. 1. Where are the servants that accompany Abraham and Isaac (Genesis 22: 3-5)? 2. In the film both Abraham and Isaac are carrying the wood yet in Scripture, Isaac carries the wood (Genesis 22: 6). This is a foreshadowing of Jesus carrying his Cross. 3. In Scripture, Isaac does not protest, he is obedient. Again, a foreshadowing: Jesus was obedient to the Father unto death, death on a Cross (Philippians 2:8).
1. Before heading up to the mountain, Abraham tells his servants he wishes to go yonder with Isaac alone 2. While i'll give you that theres a literal inconsistency with how they carry the sticks, the hebrew bible was written long before the new testament and there was no Jesus and claims of foreshadowing are always a long-shot 3. Again, no foreshadowing to be had. It is not the same text as the gospels. And exegesis is all about interpretation and reading between the lines, and all adaptations must include the human nature which is not described in the text of the bible
Regarding Isaac's sacrifice, Sarah doesn't run after Abraham in the Bible. He takes two servants with him and tells them WE will be back. Sounds like he knew he was being tested.
In rhe original "Bible" Issac was willing for his father to sacrifice him, showing how much even he loves God, and i dont recall sarah running to the scene. As a born again christian, i dont recommend this series to be the source of your foundation of faith, but the word of God itself I do love bible series films alot, being in the film industry, but dont appreciate when directors want to rewrite the bible.

@@nb3500 I'm sorta an atheist and I don't really think that's true. I was raised to believe in God, but as I got older I realized that I only believed in him cause my mom told me to. My dad never taught me anything on religion when I was young. But once I was like 13 he started talking to me about how all these different religions caused such a huge divide in the world. And I started thinking, 'how come I'm supposed to believe in the Christian God? What about the thousands of other religions in the world? What makes me right and them wrong?' I mean there's no evidence that God exists at all. So until I see an actual, unedited video (that does not try to infect my computer with viruses XD) I see no reason to believe. If there is a God, I believe he will be forgiving and understand why I, a fairly reasonable person, was hesitant to blindly believe in his existence. And as for the "useless" thing, I don't think that not believing in God makes life meaningless. I'm perfectly happy going about life enjoying my time on earth, and not focusing on how to be saved after death. That to me seems like paranoia. Always having to make sure you're behaving because you're being watched by an all-knowing being. When I was young I was always nervous that I was doing something wrong, and that God and Santa were gonna punish me. The only difference was one was gonna punish me with coal and the other with eternal damnation. I think thats a little much for someone who strays from his will... That seems like a bitchy move on God's part. If I do believe in God, it's certainly not the Christian version. That one's really easily offended and should be "feared." I don't want to fear God. That doesn't seem like a healthy relationship for his worshippers to have with him. I think my purpose in life is to be there for my loved ones, and their purpose in life is to be there for me. We're all here to help and love each other. Shouldn't that be enough? I don't need the love of some bearded guy in the sky to be happy. I'm good with that of my friends and family. And I think that's beautiful. I appreciate people who go around trying to "save my soul" because they're doing what they think is right. But I feel bad for them because they're missing out on the here and now. They're missing out on what's so great about being in our world at this moment, and not planning for the afterlife. (Not to mention I have more free time on the weekends XD.) And speaking of the here and now, I gotta go finish my homework. Woo hoo. I hope you consider what I've said, considering I gave your religion a chance.

Very good point, I was just reading to my kids, about this story how Jesus is every where In the Old Testament.....
Any of you who supports God having Abraham sacrifice his son deserve to GO to JAIL…y’all probably do the same too…
Also that God actually had to have his son sacrificed on our behalf. The whole point of animal sacrifice was to cleanse and put to death the sins of man on the life of an animal. This was one of the most tear-jerking moments for me in this series. In this single moment, God demonstrated to Abraham that He alone was supreme. That it was His alone to command life and death. You know it had to hurt Abraham terribly but he knew that God had reasons that were His alone. Abraham proved he trusted God, and for his faith, God made him father of a nation.
morbius109 I'm crying as we speak. sometimes we just gotta let go and let God do his work.

But he WANTED Abraham to acquiesce. Only a sick tyrant would want that.

How that work out?
Yo...
YUP, THE WAGES OF SIN(GAPOORS) ARE DEATH.. EVEN SECOND, ETERNAL DEATHS. AMIN
Did the Jews of that era speak with an English accent? "Fah-Thuh" ? :) An epiphany on the mount, for Abraham.

This scene is so powerful and well done! The faith that it took for Abraham to trust that God had a plan even in this was SO AMAZING!!!
You really think that God would ask that only to test the faith? This is crazy.
We've heard of MANY people killing others, even their very children, soley because 'voices in their heads' told them to do so. The only FAITH Abraham had, was to do whatever 'demonic voices in his head', told him to do. Research: "Voice of God" technology.

There could be no possible way God would want the death of Isaac or any human. Therefore...

That's what Isaac did to....contrary to how the movies like to portray him, Isaac was no whimpering boy but a young man at that time...a young man willing to submit, along with his father, to God's will

First, Hebrews 11 shows us that Abraham's faith in Christ was so matured at this point that, he actually believed that if God let him go through with the sacrifice, He/God had the power to bring Isaac back from death right on that mountain.
5:21, 1 Peter 2:24, Galatians 2:20---
This is why Jesus suffered so extensively in the Garden of Gethsemane (see Psalms 22, Psalms 40, Psalms 69, Psalms 81, Isaiah 53:6,10-Luke 22:42-44, Mark 14:33, Matthew 26:37,38; chapter 27:45,46) and on Calvary. Jesus suffered the full weight of the cup of the WRATH of God-see Romans 5:9 (which is God's abandonment/forsakening of the sinner to the full consequences of his sins-see Romans 1),
feeling the crushing weight of the guilt of Every Man's sins in pressing upon His mind,
And died a death in which He could feel No Hope He was ever coming back from the grave a conqueror over sin and death...but because His mind was completely submitted to the will of His Father-
(which is the True meaning of the golden crown on the High Priest's forehead inscribed with those words "Holiness to the Lord"--kodesh Holiness is the same Hebrew word for saint and sanctuary, because it represented the Mind of Christ-the True High Priest of which the earthly priesthood was merely a type-which was filled with the Perfection of Gold--the pure Love of God for suffering humanity) and because of His prior knowledge of the great, unceasing love of God for sinful humanity (John 3:16, Hebrews 12:2),
By FAITH, Christ held on to God loving us to the very end (John 13:1)--until His humanity could take the pressure no more, and He died of a broken heart, as evidence by the streams of blood and water flowing from His heart when it was pierced by the Roman spear.
To Abraham and to Isaac, and to us who believe in Christ...that was the Greatest exhibition of the Love of God ever revealed to fallen man (that God/Christ So So loved His rebellious, sinful world...that He would risk His own eternal existence in order to save it) and that is why Jesus said of Abraham in John 8: "Your Father Abraham Rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it, and was Glad."
That is the God I serve... thank you Lord Jesus....may the church say, Amen

When I first heard about this story when I was young, I found it pure insanity and it has never changed. I believe in God, but not in that.

Our enemies (Mushrik) believe that they alone dictate the course of history, and all it takes is the will of a single man.

He was very small....they used to be sacrificed very young.
Isaac was a young man at the time who willingly submitted because of his own faith and trust in God and in his father...the movies like to portray him as a young boy
Soren Kierkegaard deserves a comment:
When Abraham and Isaac reached the place that God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it.
It was the latter I chose.”
So Abraham went home, and the Lord gave him a new Isaac. But Abraham did not look upon him with any joy. When he looked on him he shook his head and said, “This is not my Isaac.”
But to Sarah he spoke differently. To her he said: “This is all so very strange. That it was God’s demand that I should offer Isaac is certain, absolutely certain. God himself cannot disavow that. Yet when I took it seriously, it was a mistake on my part. It was, in the end, not God’s will.”
Yet, as we know from the story (Gn.
I remember pulling this one. You should have seen the look on this donuts face lol

Josh Gulick God is Love, He does not condone murder. This was an entirely different scenario to test Abraham’s faith.

@@gilian2587 He actually spared Abraham's son. Please read the Bible.

“My boy” 😢😢 I’m not normally emotional but that got me
I love this, God is amazing. and he loves us all so much. I cried through this because the thought of him doing that is so sad yet Abraham was proven trust and faith in God that's why is called Friend and Father of many nations. GO ABRAHAM. YOU ARE MY IDOL AND SO IS GOD AND JESUS.
Its a story of obedience, not love.
+Tonya to claim a being as a idol is idol worship
worship does not go to man but to The Christ and the father
The Programmer as if I'm gonna listen to u who knows nothing
Tonya Threadgill you would rather worship a man but not your holy creator?
Isaac was surely the first serial killer.
What that means
the binding of Isaac foretells the Gospel of Jesus Christ,
when Isaac asked his father Abraham "where is the lamb for the burnt offering"
to which Abraham responded "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son."
That was psychotic.
Yeap. It's amazing how religion can destroy the minds of some people to the point that they reffer to this sick madness as "loving".
Had to scroll pretty far to see a sensible comment.
You will be blessed by your heavenly father and never loved by your earthly father but you will be rewarded for your suffering just like mine
if you hear a voice saying sacrifice your son you should probably at least try not to listen to it. Would you obey the voice?
Well to be fair in the story the voice gave him Isaac apparently. Then he wanted him back(?)
...he was old and hearing voices and he carried through with it....the bible sanitized the story
ISAAC CRIED (I C) 😂😭 PRELUDE OF JESUS
?? Im not Jew but respect their religion, stop being pathetic.
My school showed us this, This is for my performance I will post on my yt channel. It will still take a long time tho.
I can't believe people know this story and think it describes a god worthy of worship...a god who expects to be feared...how sad.
These people are delusional.
Feared in the Bible means respected when you look at the translated word. You need to respect God.
@@Nameless-pt6oj fear and respect is 2 completely different things

@@shakoimnadze7604 nah fear and respect are the same basically
Major, MAJOR props that they didn't depict an actual angel, or voice from above.
1. Before heading up to the mountain, Abraham tells his servants he wishes to go yonder with Isaac alone
2. While i'll give you that theres a literal inconsistency with how they carry the sticks, the hebrew bible was written long before the new testament and there was no Jesus and claims of foreshadowing are always a long-shot
Similar story mentioned in Indian epic Mahabharata where Warrior karna sacrifice his son Vrishketu for Lord Krishna.
Draco Malfoy was Abraham's kid!!
In rhe original "Bible" Issac was willing for his father to sacrifice him, showing how much even he loves God, and i dont recall sarah running to the scene.
As a born again christian, i dont recommend this series to be the source of your foundation of faith, but the word of God itself
I do love bible series films alot, being in the film industry, but dont appreciate when directors want to rewrite the bible.
Honestly I can't wait for the Lord to come and take his people already. All those atheist who denies to listen what we Christians say will regret not listening.

@@nb3500 then their close minded sheep brainwashed
(Not to mention I have more free time on the weekends XD.)
And speaking of the here and now, I gotta go finish my homework. Woo hoo. I hope you consider what I've said, considering I gave your religion a chance.

Superb miniseries.
As a Muslim I find this scene heart throbbing and teary.
The difference in Islam is that it was Prophet Ishmael (Peace be Upon Him) who was going to get sacrificed NOT Isaac (Peace Be Upon Him).
It's Isaac, the sacrifice and yeshua Jesus is Lord the word became flesh 🙏 🙌 ✨️
Isaac: "father we have the wood but where is the lamb?"
Abraham in a state of psychosis: "You are the lamb today son"
Abrahams hallucination: "STOP BRO I WAS ONLY JOKING"
