    Saint Lawrence is also a patron saint of comedians. According to legend, he was put to death via spit roasting and said “I am well done on this side, turn me over!”

    For someone coming without much knowledge of the intricacies of catholicism and becoming a protestant Christian in adulthood listing to you guys is pretty fun and kind of informative.
    Obviously your content is more aimed at Catholics, which is fine, but I found it helpful to try and help me understand how your faith/religion ticks.
    There are a number of things that are done within catholicism that don't make much sense to me or seem at odds with biblical teaching but so long as your salvation is in Christ alone then I'm keen to understand, learn and empathise.
    Keep up the good work and good banter. You've gained a follower on from the UK👍😄

      @dancingpotplant That’s awesome to read.
      Here’s a good one about praying to the saints, which really opened my mind regarding “praying to the dead:”
      Jesus was true God and true man, who spoke with the dead, that being Moses and Elijah, when He was transfigured. By doing so, there was no evil or sin Jesus committed.
      We are to imitate Christ, so it’s not a sin to speak to our brothers and sisters who are in heaven by asking for prayer.
      Moreover, those of us who are Christian are in the Body of Christ, and Paul says in Romans 8 that ultimately nothing can separate us from the love of God, not even death. Therefore, those who are in heaven, who are still part of the Body of Christ with those of us here on earth, are still connected with us in virtue of the connection we all have in Christ’s Body, because death cannot and has not separated those who are in heaven from the love of God.
      Furthermore, in Hebrews 11, the many heroes of the Old Testament are praised for their Godly lives, and immediately after in 12:1 it summarizes chapter 11, saying how we are “surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses.” Thus, we have no reason to believe that they are not with us, in the Body of Christ, praying for us and cheering us on to win the race.

    34:49 - Saint Barbara is the patron saint of Artillerymen. I know because we celebrate Saint Barbara's Day with a Ball and one of the only times Artillery Officers can wear red socks with their uniform (red is the color of artillery). And by the way - working with gunpowder is STIL dangerous today, Ryan LOL.

    Hey just a few comments. I started listening to you guys about a month ago, i love your dynamic together you guys are great. Its funny when I first heard you i thought I was listening to Kevin Smith and the voice of Bobs Burgers H Jon Benjamin. So immediately I thought how great it would be to hear you guys chat with kevin smith. I think you would all hit it off and maybe you can chat about his movie dogma. I dont know, but i hear his podcasts and yours and think how great a crossover would be. I think you should invite more guests onto the show especially people not as well versed in the faith as you to bring some of that outside perspective into the conversation. Maybe bring in people from other faiths. Or some of the “nones”. Anyway those are just a few suggestions. I love you guys keep being awesome and God Bless

    Wrapping my mind around the idea of a Saint and to ask them for prayer is already hard enough. But then hearing there’s a Saint for “hangovers” makes the idea of saints even more ridiculous and hard to get behind. I was baptized catholic.

    • @st.michaelthearchangel7774
      @st.michaelthearchangel7774 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I wouldn’t say it’s a good thing if one needs to pray for a saint because of being hung over. The person needs to go to confession if that is the case, because drunkenness is sinful.
      Regarding praying to the saints or the Blessed Mother in general, please read this: Jesus was true God and true man, who spoke with the dead, that being Moses and Elijah, when He was transfigured.

    Father, et.al.,
    Re: your inquisition question. What about the Jesuit concept/theory of Moral Time vs. Clock Time? It would seem to be able to apply here. When we learned about this in the Seminary, Jesuits primarily used it for the timing of their obligation of praying the Divine Office. We used it for the Friday no meat abstinence rule/law. Those "Jebbys": if it was a Thursday, and we were out late to say a long basketball game, then we were hungry, then we went out for a pizza or something; got there AFTER Midnight, thus it was Friday. However, since we were all up, hungry, never ate our Thursday dinner, and since we did not go to bed/ sleep and wake up, morally it was still Thursday for us. Ergo, we were able to get Italian sasuage and pepperoni on our pizza! Or any kind of meat. Were you ever taught that Father?
    Comments:....

    John
