***** well, there is a pragmatic reason on other songs where Hook doesn't play a regular 4 string bass but actually a bass VI. Not everybody has a bass VI. Perfect Kiss uses a regular bass. If you see Jonathan Demme's New Order Perfect Kiss live 10 min video youll see that the parts that The Robots are playing on guitar Hook is actually playing them very high in the neck, getting in the range of the 6 string guitar. That's why the Robots version on guitar sounds spot on. The only time Hook plays very down in the neck is at the beginning and if you notice, the robots guitarist doesnt play that part.

Jed Stephens in your case its the "bassist lack of ability". Your cover of True Faith is horrendous. I cant hear any resemblance of Hook anywhere in the song. sorry

I can't believe I just found this cover, I've been missing out for YEARS! It's probably one of the best NewOrder Covers I've heard, it's probably up there with Sophie Ellis Bextor's cover of True Faith. It made me feel like the first time I heard "Perfect Kiss" it's a total "trip" and I feel you guys captured the essence of breaking new ground discovering sounds and just letting the music take you where it may, all the analog electronics truly take you to that spot where you close your eyes and like that teen of yesteryear just tumble around the magical electronic soundscape that is the perfect kiss. Not an easy track to cover, beautifully executed. And I want more of wherever that came from! Greetings from 🇲🇽

Excellent from a trio.....good hearing a female vocal version too...if only Gillian was given more chances to sing.....the Hooky & Barney Boys Club would have vetoed that though...
