Pulling the race card either gets these sharks a tax break (diversity incentives, which will be rightfully revoked through project 2025…Google project 2025) or they are virtue signaling unfairly in a market that favors the best of the best over racism handouts
I thought that's great when they said number 2 but completely lost me at black owned, customers will buy it if they like it, they literally segregated themselves on the race card
Daymond won the lawsuit against the criminals. Daymond is 100% more of an honest man than any human in these comments will ever be. The devil tried and lied but justice prevailed for John.❤
Why do some people bring race into everything.. Kevin asked for target sell thru.. Their reply.. Number 2 black owned brand.. If someone asked the dude what his rank was in law school, would he say second best Black candidate of the class... That alone was a big red flag for me...
because there’s a million wine brands, and they are a newer company.. so if they said they were number 200,000 that would hold no weight to what he was asking for.
Remember that these pitches last around an hour and are heavily edited. It'd be hard to go into an hour long pitch and not talk about something you're proud of. It is no different then when they have a vet on, or even a country dude who loves protecting trees. Most of us realize that's just an expression of their personality, their heritage, their lived experiences. Most of us are curious about other peoples lives and how it is different then our own. I'd be more interested to talk about why that part of it is a red flag for you. I'd be sad for myself if there were things that had zero effect on me made me think that way.
Indeed that is super weird, guess they pulled that second clip from a different episode? I know they edit these things like crazy but that is pretty shocking
I saw an video of Mark explaining the showing where he says the actual negotiations during these pitches take hours but heavily edit it to about 10 mins for the show. Sometimes they take breaks during the pitch . Maybe that's the case here? Either way, nice catch lol
That's because he's a billionaire, and was one before he came on the show, so he's actually trying to help the people and companies he's investing in,and not just trying to make money off of them. Or at least that's what it seems like.
I agree up to the the mid 2000's having things like black owned and veteran owned etc means alot. In the end I care more about a good quality product that is made from a company that I can trust no matter what label they want to put. That's just me though and using those labels definitely sells more as people feel like they more of an impact supporting certain beliefs. It is simliar when you got two water bottles that both taste the same, cost the same and look the same... The only difference is one contributes to finding a cure for cancer and one just doesn't do anything like that. Mind as well pick the one who donates to cancer because it feels like you are helping to make an impact. Like one of the comments said it's very cultural based.
Mark saw that they work hard and have handled their money well... Couples with family tend to be more successful too than just partners... Mark believed more in their tenacity than in the business...tenacity and hunger will bring the money
I wonder how many grams of sugar are in a bottle of this wine, these wines? Totally worth the slightly higher price for organic, all natural ingredients.
@@wolfura That's Euros, $14.99 Euros = US $16.00 (approx.), not much difference at all. Even if not Euros, so what, a couple dollars is no big deal. Further, it is higher than you say in Europe.
One observation - black businesses come in at a higher price than the market average. Black businesses have got to learn to be competitive in order to thrive.
#2 black owned... doesn't answer the question of what ranking you are with the sales at the store. Playing the race card to make the pitch sound better doesn't matter to the finances. Consumers seldom care what race\ethnicity you are when purchasing a drink.
Oh yeah, only black people bring up their heritage on Shark Tank. It's not happened with anyone else, especially not 2nd generation immigrants amirite?

Thanks for the update
That's the power of Shark Tank.
Mark adding $15k to his offer because $200k is an “easier number” 😂

i love how mark truly sees the potential in newer brands and is always looking to help them grow
Literally the whole point of the show

Kevin always gets my respect for congratulating every entrepreneur whether he lost to another shark or somebody who will be his competitor.
When they said No. 2 Black-owned, they lost Kevin. He's interested in the No. 2 in all colors.

Gotta love how they bring in the black card and then Damon is first to say "im out"
I could not believe it…. Idk why he’s even on the show
Didn't seem to actually be a problem for them. They just said thank you and moved on.

I think most do play the race card, I didn't feel that way about this couple at all. They worked hard and earned it. Hats off to them.
Can you tell a person is a veteran just by looking at him? I didn’t need to be told that they are black wine makers, I can see that.
I haven’t stopped watching this show & for some reason this is the most insightful for me. Thanks for the inspiration 🎉
Bahaha " Are the doors shut?!" Ba ha ba ba ba 🕺

Who cares if it’s black owned? That card is so annoying. No one goes to a store, grabs a product and says “I wonder if this is white or black owned”
There’s a reason they market themselves that way. And clearly it’s worked for them.
Agreed
To be fair people actually do care. Lot of product are culture base. Lol. Even wine.

Very impressive. Mark sat there and thought, I need these two on my team. Doesn't matter what the product is.
Love this company, especially with the wines. Hope I get a chance to see them in Chicago Target stores.
Simply put, both of them are overachievers AND completely down-to-earth, likable people. This balance is really hard to match.
Mark low key asked Mr. Wonderful if he could have cocktail wine partnership. "Are you able to do something because I know you have your own wine"

Great deal for Mark. 250K is peanuts for him. But that wine business can easily be worth $100M in a few years.
I'm favoured, $60k every week! I can now give back to the locals in my community and also support God's work and the church. God bless America.
