  • Welcome back to the channel and welcome to a new project car.
    So this is a 1999 Rover Mini Cooper Sportspack with some serious rust issues, if anyone knows about the later minis they will know they really suffer from rust.
    In this episode we really get stuck into trying to get these front end panels to fit, we have some improvements but also some more set backs. This will defo take time to sort.

    Interesting to see the amount of fettling required to get everything in the right place always better to spend some extra time here than spending years wishing you had!!

    You've some skill there Marc, I couldn't keep up with every tweak you mentioned and I know I'd make a complete hash of it, it would end up looking like a crash victim!!

    Just been through all of that, must admit I had heritage panels which were a good fit but by no means perfect. I still spent 3days (4-5 hrs a day) fettling, had them off and on maybe 7 times. It is now having the front end spayed and just awaiting the call to collect. Love your channel by the way....

      Cheers buddy glad your enjoying the channel we have loads more mini content coming plus other cars to. Yes I can agree with the heritage panels if you have seen our clubman build that was heritage and not the best plus had the same issues with round nose fronts to. It’s all about taking your time I guess. All the best with your project buddy 👍

    Coming on nicely👍
    The smaller panels I tend to always make my own, find it quicker, cheaper and a better fit

    Great video Marc. I had the same problems with my Magnum wings. I'm convinced the quality has seriously went downhill with them and I had to fettle them like mad to fit. My front end video goes out later today. Cheers, Sean

    When I did my front end it was the biggest ball ache of the whole restoration.

    • @SimpsonsClassics
      @SimpsonsClassics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s annoying mate I normally find them ok but the last few have been a right ball ache like you say buddy 👍

      Good spot the car has been in storage for a number years and it’s known about. Tyres are old and cracked anyway.

    This jigsaw is coming along nicely mate, it looks easier when you have seams as guide points. Sadly mine was de-seamed badly at some point and is proving to be a nightmare lol

    • @SimpsonsClassics
      @SimpsonsClassics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it sure it’s now buddy. Just need to get things to fit nice and get it all welded together. Can’t wait to have the front end all done now. It definitely sounds harder to do with no seams.... Cheers for watching
