We're back exploring the Cotswolds! This week we're in a town we've previously missed on our travels, the lovely Chipping Norton - have you ever visited?
Having just spent a week in our touring caravan at the Camping Club site at Chipping Norton we decided to find the recording studio mentioned in your excellent video Robin. We found it with no problem and marvelled at the number of famous names that had performed and recorded there over the years. I found the studio mentioned on Wikipedia and also another web site that listed all the acts and albums that had been recorded there. On returning home I remembered I had a copy of Gerry Rafferty's "Night Owl" album in the cupboard, so reading the notes on the back of the album sleeve it thanks all the people at Chipping Norton studio by name. Strange to think I'd had that album for many years and didn't know one day I'd be standing outside the studio where it was recorded! So thank you for the video Robin that made my day.
So pleased you are back in action Robin! I love ‘Chippy’...............brilliant bookshop, ‘Jaffe & Neal’..........and a lovely independent wool shop ‘The Fiberworks’.....both worth a visit! Thank you for brightening up a grey Sunday afternoon.
My family lived in Chipping Norton in 1976-1977, while I was stationed at RAF Upper Heyford serving with the US Air Force. We loved living there. And we talk about living there to this day. Very enjoyable video, and I’m glad I found your TH-cam channel!
So glad to see that you have visited Chipping Norton. Wonder if your drone shots will be good in that weather that you have. Our son in law has a property there and unfortunately the c-19 has put a damper on our visits. It really is a great place to have a base for exploring the Cotswolds. Now to sit and soak in you review.
Thank you Robin For sharing you're journeys around The beautiful Cotswolds So much history to explore Beautiful peaceful villages. I hope they stay the same ❤️
Sir, Chipping was more over Scenic and also was full of History..! Would like to visit the Chipping Museum one day for sure because there lies the History of Chippings with Captured Images..! Great to have such a Wonderful History 👍
Thank you for another great video! It’s a dream of mine to visit the UK one day, and your channel helps keep up my enthusiasm for visiting your country, because covid or no covid, I don’t see myself traveling across the pond anytime soon- maybe when my children are grown and out of the house. And may I say, your cadence with speaking is superb. Your occasional and timely pauses are like auditorial signals for the next paragraph- I love it. Your videos are quite cozy in my opinion.
Thanks very much for your kind words Jamie. You will be astonished how quickly your kids grow up and launch themselves onto the world. I am sure you will be over here in no time. Let us know if and when you decide to come. All the best Robin.
Liked the comment about famous people treated as normal people.I enjoyed your interaction with Hugh Bonneville.Natural and courteous,as with the interview with your wife.
I can see why Ross has chosen to work with you.Calm, interesting and speaks beautiful in diction and topic.Oliver Postgate had the same enchanting voice and drew me back to England.
Finally able to catch up with some more of your lovely videos at last! Just to say (as I am Chippy born and bred and many generations before me) that Chippy is a town not a village and I see in some comments people saying ‘Chipping’ as a short version but a local would only ever say Chippy or Chipping Norton….😊
Lovely, I adore The Cotswolds & have visited Chippy a few times. However I would never live anywhere there’s a hunt or even remotely close to my choice of home. Thank you Robin, I love watching these 👏💖
You can really see the steepness of one of Chippy’s street around 4:22 with the woman pushing that wheel chair uphill. I really enjoyed learning about this village !
Found this channel when I was searching for spooky stories and now I'm hooked on seeing different Cotswold locations, I had no idea this was an actual area of England until I saw the videos here. Would like to visit some of the places featured once Covid clears up. The golden brick buildings are very striking. Thank you for your videos, they are very well produced. :D
Great presentation but may I point out that at (5.10) Chipping Norton is referenced as a village (and again later). It's not a village, it's a town with a charter from Queen Elizabeth I
I enjoyed watching the video my daughter lives there. I have been to visit her from South Africa. It's a lovely village or is it a town. ? Thanks for sharing.
Robin, which month would be best to visit the Cotswolds? We are looking at either September or October to come over for a few weeks. Then on to Ireland.
They were cottages built by the rich to house usually poor widows, left destitute by the death of their husbands. Clearly the welfare state has replaced the critical need for such things but despite our best efforts we still haven't made life secure for everyone and these cottages often still provide accommodation for less well off people.
