Tariq Harb plays Bach's famous cello prelude

- Guitarist Tariq Harb performs Bach's prelude from his first cello suite, BWV 1007. This is an arrangement by my former teacher, Dr. Jeffrey McFadden. Even though I did change some fingerings, it has always been my go-to score to work from when playing this suite. Sadly the edition has been discontinued and separate movements can only be found within the RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music - Toronto) graded classical guitar curriculum.
I sincerely hope you enjoy this performance, and hopefully also the filming aspect of it. I've been using a new lens on my camera and dabbling a bit with lighting. Let me know what you think of the image and video in general. All feedback is welcome!
Guitar: Martin Blackwell, double cedar top and Brazilian rosewood back and sides, 2019
Strings: Savarez, 540 CR
Guitar support: Murata
Camera: Sony a6400 with Sigma lens
Mics: Rode NT55 Condenser Microphones

This piece, the instrument, your interpretation and execution - sublime. The lighting, simplicity and quiet timing the perfect surround.
Thanks so much, I really appreciate your feedback!
Thank you, thank you, and again thank you Tariq.
I think Bach would approve. Such attention and careful delivery of the piece ❤.
One of my Bach favorites, done extremely well!
Thank you!
So respectful to music, every note carefully played...thank you for properly cherishing this piece. 👍
It's in a way sacred to me. Thank you!
I feel care in every note...just lovely.
You're GENIUS, brother! So flawless and expression!!! THANK you!!!
That's very kind of you, thank you!
Well this new lens gives an excellent bokeh and a crisp foreground, exactly what was needed to compliment your wonderful playing.
Glad it’s doing the job! Thank you for your feedback!
This is a way you can speak with God. The most precious thing you can get from devoting yourself to an instrument.❤
That is so true. Thank you.
OutSTANDING sir. Just started making the transition from rock/metal to classical guitar, so grateful I came across your page and videos. Thank you for posting.
So glad you are enjoying these videos. Enjoy the ocean of classical guitar art!
That was just wonderful. I like the editing- we get to see both left and right hand separately❤. A quiet moment of serene happiness. But mostly I just close my eyes and enjoy the rapture.
Glad you liked the videography! Thank you!
Very nice Tariq! Sound and Video production are perfrecto!👌Did rearrange it myself starting from John Duarte edition. Sound very close! I remember you plahing this back in 2013-14. Ten years already.... Time flies my friend!

The lighting is spot on with a warm glowing ambience. Are there multiple cámaras or one camera with multiple takes?
Thanks for your feedback! It's multiple takes using one camera.
Beautifully done. What does the double cedar top do for the sound?

Tariq - Is this arrangement going to be available on your website?
I would to find sheet music for this piece in tablature
Are you in Malta january?
Your right hand pinky is all over the place.
I sense jealousy.
Its a valid point I’m making. You play great, better than me, I’ve just always heard the flying pinky is a sign of poor technique, and is something beginner guitarists do that has to be worked on. What are your thoughts on this?
It’s just sympathetic motion. The greater the volume/dynamic I am after with the A and M fingers the larger this sympathetic motion of the pinky becomes. Outward motion of the pinky is not an issue especially if it’s a free, swinging motion. It would be problematic if the pinky goes inwards into the palm which would inhibit the movement of the A finger, and that would obviously need to be addressed.
👏👏👏
