Edge EAS EGT Installation 05 Duramax LLY

Some video showing the install of the Edge EAS EGT Pyrometer in the passenger side exhaust manifold of my 2005 Chevrolet Silerado 2500HD with a 6.6L Duramax LLY.
Basic steps:
1. Jack the truck
2. Remove right front tire
3. Remove fender/wheel well
4. Identify the flat spot on the manifold
5. Center punch the manifold
6. Drill 1/8" hole in manifold, keep drill bit cool (WD-40 works)
7. Drill 21/64" hole, expanding size of previous hole
8. Tap threads using 1/8"-27NPT tap
9. Remove all metal shavings from manifold and around hole using a pencil magnet
10. Install probe nut
11. Install probe
12. Route wire
13. Route wire through firewall boot
14. Plug into Edge Evolution CS/CTS unit
15. Ensure cable is tied up
16. Pick up/clean tools, throw away trash
17. Bring engine up to operating temp at idle, check EGT levels.
Tools: 14mm wrench, drill, 1/8" drill bit, 21/64" drill bit, 1/8"-27NPT tap, pencil magnets, hammer, center punch, flat tip screwdriver, jack, jack stand, lug wrench, scissors.

Thanks, that makes it look easier than I thought it would be. Of course the fun part is worrying about making sure I get all the metal filings out of the manifold.

Good video it was unnerving drilling a hole in my Duramaxs manifold .I was debating where to run the egt cable to the Edge CS head I'm going the some route you did .Thanks

Don’t run the wire through the door jam and into you door boot like that. It will leak if it gets wet enough. Go through the fire wall correctly. There’s a boot that is easier to run through that’s next to the one you were trying to.
