Just had this done on 1999 Nissan Frontier pushing 60K original miles. 4 speed, 4 cyl. Auto. Shifted fine prior. Second owner. Opted for this verse filter change. 25 years is a long time to bust loose old bolts and gaskets...Running GREAT. Valvoline synthetic replaced Really Dirty Fluid...Cheap preventative maintenence.
Great process if done properly. Had my 97 V6 Camry flushed on a Wynns machine 4 times. 350,000 miles ain’t too bad in my book. Of course the fact it was a Toyota probably had a lot to do with it. I was told the problem is some people will try to rush the process by bringing up the engine speed. Bad idea! Let the engine idle during the whole process.
It will also make it last a very long time if your trans has been properly maintained.. I prefer getting old ATF out of my valve body, clutches, and the rest of the transmission internals. But thats just me..
