This video came across my feed randomly. I don’t follow you. Social Media content unfortunately has alienated many of us and it’s refreshing to hear from a person who is attempting to engage community. This is deeper than seasonal depression. This is the dawn of a better tomorrow after this painful brief transition through the eye of the needle we all are experiencing. The tide will turn and tranquility will grace us once again.

Starla thank you for such a raw reminder that we are so blessed. Even those of use who are actively struggling with family issues, health, finances, etc.. There is still so much good in the world, and I have been trying to make more of it myself lately! I have done several little things to spread joy to people I care about, and complete strangers. I hope that others will take this path too, and that we can all find a bit of happiness helping others! I have recently been using Threads a lot more because it feels much more positive than the other platforms lately, and I try to every day go comment on someone's "success story" whether its a sale, or an I got out of bed today, kind of success. 😄 Thanks for being a lighthouse in the fog 💡🔦

The door to me and partner's car has been broken and we haven't gotten it fix, and we do have to reach over from the passenger seat to unlock the driver's door. So that was a really relatable part of your story you told because that is us right now. Thanks for being so warm, I follow a lot of Etsy and POD gurus on TH-cam and they know things are tough and they are just repeating the same things "check your listing, check your tags, check your images, buy our course, blah blah. Things just suck right now and I'm glad you are being real and that you spend the time to give back in a way that isn't just more marketing youtube videos. Thank you.

Thank you, Starla, for sharing. We all experience ups and downs in life. It's not always possible to stay positive, but it's important to hold onto hope and support others. I lost my home 10 years ago due to the russian invasion, and the past decade has been quite turbulent. However, I believe I've managed to overcome most of those challenges -I'm alive, able to provide for my family, help friends, and continue fighting to build my own and my people's future. Through it all, I've discovered a resilience and strength I never knew I had. I recognize that there will be dark days, but I remain optimistic about the brighter days to come. Or at least I can light the candle to make it brighter.

That must’ve taken lots of guts to record and I think you underestimate how good your timing was and how many people needed to see this - from a person that we otherwise view as a machine who just succeeds at everything she tackles… No one ever really knows what goes on behind the scenes in someone’s life, and these types of videos humanize the people that we follow. Thank you for this content. Disregard any negative comments you get ❤

Starla, I have been following you and Marc for about three years now and I so appreciate all the things I've learned from you both. You do have a certain way of speaking that really gets things across in a very positive way. Thank you for this video. I think that we can get so wrapped up in day to day life that we lose sight of how much we do have and, in my case, the wonderful life I have. I do have a "full time job" that I work. I am also a new member of the Handmade Alpha Academy. My goal for the new year is to get my online business on Etsy going in a proper way. I've just been barely giving it the attention it needs for the past few years. I hope you are feeling better about things now because you are a light in so many people's lives. Thank you for what you do. Marc, too. Keep your head up. You have a lot to be proud of.

Marc, Starla, and family: Thank you for the soulful tears I shed during this video today. We just lost our Luna, 9yo Great Pyrenees, last night. I was sitting here trying to be productive and feeling down. When this video started I was entranced by the setting, the beautiful shots, the genuine, authentic voice of Starla. I cried but in a good way. I think you guys are amazing and support your work and your creativity and can't wait to support the community you have created. Thank you for reminding me that it's ok to feel down, but it's a good idea to be aware of how I can help others and to truly be grateful for all I have, all the love ones I have had in my life, and for you. PS. Visuals and directing were incredible!

Great message. I feel the same way. There is so much uncertainty in the world right now. None feel safe, and with a tough economy, it hits everybody hard. Both sides, customers, and sellers. But, even if we can't change much, we can choose how to react and live. We can complain and cry and go deep to depression state, or we can face it, uplift each other, be grateful for what we have, and continue to do what we can do the best. All good things start from small change.
I had to make a huge step for myself for this reason, I will do my first live, even I don't have 1000s followers, just a couple hundreds, but I want to bring some smiles and hope to those who are struggling, simply by sharing my story and mindset with others.

Such a wonderful reminder of how blessed we are. This video was so endearing and intimate. Thank you for sharing.
I remember being 20 and newly married and being excited over the small things like not folding a piece of bread in half for a hot dog but actually being able to purchase hot dog buns. It sounds crazy now, but when we were so broke, a buck for a loaf of bread, made more sense than a buck for 8 buns. I also remember losing our home 15 years later and being at a point where i made sure my kids had plenty to eat before I ate anything. My kids recall these days, and I know that was all part of the plan for turning them into the people they are today. Again, we really are so blessed. Thank you.

Thank you for your comments today, Starla. Your video was well-timed! I loved your comment that you currently have everything your past self had wished for. That's true for me, too! (And so is the part about being in a small, old house! And wanting to move!) Your comments and some very recent experiences are showing me that we are so much happier if we focus with gratitude on what we do have instead of what we don't have. Thank you. ❤

I’m not sure why you’ve been sad but it’s so true what others have been saying that gratitude can help depression go away. It was lovely to hear you say that sentiment out loud in so many words. And that is what November is for. So many jump straight to Christmas which is amazing but November and Thanksgiving is also so important.

Hi Starla, thank you so much for this video. I always always get so much from your videos. But, I really needed this one at this time. Yes, I was in tears almost immediately hearing you share your heart. You know, when you see someone on the screen 2 times a week in this capacity, you don't always think that they are going to be dealing with the same issues as you. For me, it is that my dad is dying and the holidays are always hard enough but I don't want to lose him around Christmas. That will always be what I associate with Christmas then. I know we are all dealing with different things and I totally agree with you that giving to someone else in one of the many different ways you can give, is the best healing there is. I will be thinking of you as you make it through the holidays :) You certainly have been a blessing in my life!

Thank you so much for your kind words. I hate hearing about your dad. Know that you are not alone! It may be a big world, but it is also small in so many ways!

We really want to but we also understand that keeping an entire property for the sake of "memories" isn't fair when so many people are without affordable homes right now. We live next to a military base so ideally, we'd love to offer the home to a retired veteran, since the bathroom is disability accessible. We have a bath-fitter shower that accommodates a wheelchair from when Marc's Grandfather was still alive (we have no tub), so this would be the perfect property for a senior couple.

Very cool video, Starla. I understand it's intent but I loved the memories you shared within this video. Not that I'm a busy body, but I've always loved learning about people's past. I think it stems from listening to stories from my grandpa (my mom's dad) about when he was younger and his family, of people I never knew. Like the fact that he went to high school with Vivian Vance (Ethel, from "I Love Lucy"), back in Cherryvale, KS.
As for "this time of year", I've always looked forward to the fall and the holidays. It was always a happy time for me, growing up. I'm 65 now and I cherish all of my memories of this time of year. This year is a little different, though.
I got laid off (after 19 years) three weeks ago. I was planning on retiring in a year, too. I've had to apply for Social Security sooner than I wanted (a difference of about $400/mo compared to when I wanted to retire) and go on unemployment to try to make ends meet until I can find other work, if I can find other work. I found out my SS won't start until December, when I was expecting it in November. Then I found out my first week of unemployment is being withheld. On top of my frustration of the situation my boss put me in, I have to deal with a much tighter budget than I expected. Not to mention how slow my Etsy shop has been since re-opening after my prostate surgery.
This is my favorite time of year though, and I'm not going to let all of that bring me down. If anything, all of this couldn't have happened at a better time because this time of year makes me happy and what better way to get through these troubles, right?
