Fox once again manages to mess up a great book. In the book, she is in an orphanage then is taken to be experimented on then escapes and that is why they are after her. Maybe they just didn't show that part.
Dib Siverak I was wondering that too, I suspected there was something special about the kid that they either weren't showing us, or something that got lost in translation in the trailer versus the book. Hopefully they'll include a justification for it in the show, because other than that major plot hole the show looks really cool
Read the books, they're amazing. "The Passage" is 850ish pages. I own the 2 sets of the trilogy. 1st Edition paperbacks, and a Box Set (to never touch and keep pristine)
Three years and I am still grumbling about the way this magnificent book was destroyed by someone who thought that they knew better than Justin Cronin what the story line should be. They changed the characters and messed around with the story. I have just started re reading the books to get rid of the bad taste the series left me with.
How many books are in the series? Also is there a reason they need this specific kid? Cause logically they could just go grab another one. Right now it kinda reminds me a little of Believe but without the powers, mixed with "The Girl with all the Gifts"
Potential Spoilers: I've read the entire series, and I am a little confused and disappointed by this trailer. In the book, Amy is given the virus, and Wolgast (Gossler) takes her after the virals escape not before. Others have echoed why are they chasing one kid, when there are many in foster care. In the book, Amy isn't special. She is just a kid with no parent who was left at a convent. She only becomes special after being given the virus to see how it would affect a child. They seem to have gotten rid of some characters (i.e. Sister Lacy). I could be wrong. It is only a trailer, but I am not optimistic. Should be on FX not Fox. It would have a greater chance of survival. This series lends itself well to a television. If done right, it could be very good. I wonder if they'll have the budget for the wasteland of the future though. Most of the series is takes place after the virals decimate the human population. Only the beginnings of book one and book two delve into the present day and the fall of mankind. Honestly, this would be better on HBO as a replacement for Game of Thrones. They know how to world build on a budget. When I think of Fox, I picture Wayne Manor (Gotham) with two rooms (sitting room with fireplace and small Kitchen). This series needs desolation and future compounds a la Road Warrior.

In the FOX, i don't have many hopes, i understand u... But what we can do, like fans, is only wait and pray to be wrong .... The Passage is a great Story
AND, it looks like they are suggesting there is some kind of OTHER viral outbreak that predates the virals escaping from the lab - in the book the outbreak was due to their virals infected with the vampire bat virus escaping...
No worries about that, there's zero (no pun intended) chances of a prime-time TV series turning a serious, R-rated, novel into anything good. This should have been on HBO or NetFlix.
Exactly. The thing about The Passage is that the story is a modern epic. The trailer honestly simply does not feel like an epic. I always have a special feelings towards The Passage as the very first modern post-apocalyptical novel read by me. I have fantasized numerus time about how the characters should look if made into a web series. Honestly I am hurt. :(
It's sad to know that FOX canceled this series. They had such a good storyline going for them. All I really wanna know is, what did happen to Brad in the end?
It was supposed to be a short trilogy. It was supposed to take all the books and combine everything into a short trilogy. This was never supposed to be for the long haul.
Every time there's a movie/show with a Man protecting a kid in an Apocalyptic world, people refer to Last of Us.... Last of Us weren't the first to do this. There's been hundreds of movies/shows/games before that did it lol.
LOL It probably seems that way. People think more about what's recent or new especially if it's very popular. Hopefully, nobody really thinks that The Last of Us was the first. That's just...sad.
For those of you comparing this to The Last of Us, allow me to let you in on a little secret. The Wolgast/Amy story line is a small part of the books. Very small. Yes, maybe FOX will make it more significant than it was but if you haven't read the books, calm down. This is nothing like that.
Fox shouldn't have made this, any prime time TV based based show is going to dumb down the intellect of the story for the average tv viewer whose attention span can’t handle anything. I can’t imagine what sort light-hearted garbage they will turn this into. HBO or Netflix should have produced this. This book read like a rated R movie. To see it on prime time TV might be a bit disappointing in my mind, because I feel like the brutality in the book, which struck the most fear in its readers, will be missed.
Ah, people. If you're so worried about this being cancelled, just read the books. They are absolute masterpieces. This series on the other hand looks pretty bad, especially compared to the book. A lot of things have been changed for this series. What bothers me most is the fact that they turned Babcock into a woman. WHY!? A beautiful woman even, who still looks stunning when she's all pale, full of scary veins, and smeared with blood!! Babcock was the very first viral to be created by the project and already COMPLETELY TRANSFORMED when Wolgast was going around the USA to pick up Amy. I really hope this beautiful Miss America Babcock will still undergo a very dramatic change. The virals are not supposed to look like human beings at all.
correct, the virals are bat like in their appearance as the virus originated from bats and the book describes the original twelve viral's hanging upside down in their cells.
Me before watching The Passage trailer: "Well, they'll certainly, have to par down the scale, but I see how this could be translated to a television series with its heart and ambition intact." Me after watching The Passage Trailer: You bastards! You maniacs! What have you done to it?!?

Looks quite close to the opening of The Passage to me. As in, if I saw it with no title and the names bleeped out, I would still know what it was supposed to be. You want something that trades on the title alone, think of World War Z. I genuinely didn't know what that was a trailer for until the title screen came up at the end.
It's a shell of the real story. Right of the bat they removed Peter and Lish from the story. That tells you everything you need to know. It's reduced and hacked up for a network audience; they've essentially taken nothing from the books but the title and a reimagining of a piece of a story line. I have no idea why Fox even bought the rights.

Warning: Spoilers. This is not a Last of Us rip off. It actually done it first, though there is a long line of stories that have done this over time. The Passage trilogy is one of my favorite book series, and the first book, The Passage, is an achievement in American literature which we have students read in one of our writing courses. It's as if Stephan King hired Faulkner, Austin, and Shakespeare to write him a book based on something in his head that was too great for him to put on paper. Unfortunately, the second half of the 2nd book falls short. The third book is great, but was written for only die hard fans who want to see it through, and to know more about Zero. The Passage is a generational saga spanning hundreds of years. The first third of the novel deals with what we are being showed in the footage above before leaping over 100 years into the futures with a completely different set of characters. It's like getting to see Rick and the gangs great-grand children and the end of civilization or that moment when it finds it's way back on the up and up. Unfortunately, I can't see Fox doing this series the justice it deserves. That upsets me. I was happy Ridley Scott bought the franchise rights back in 2015(?) but I am disappointed that Fox is doing it. This is a work that belongs on AMC at the least, but would enjoy itself best on Netflix or Amazon or HBO. This could have been HBOs answer to West World and GoTs when those shows were done. Some will say that Cronin started the novel 2006, and he did start writing it in 2006, but he took about 2 years before that to research and plot out most of the first novel and major plot points of the series. Guess that's something you only learn at conferences. The idea came about a time when vampires were it and zombies were slowly breaking onto the stages, again. These are not zombies by the way, nor are they vampires, though the latter term is loosely flung around. They are twelve and one. Needless, I will give it a chance since I am one of Cronin's many commenters and fans who kept suggesting to sell the "movie rights." Now I wish I'd never had.
I was bitterly disappointed and underwhelmed when we caught our first glimpse of a viral. For me it all went down here after that.. they're supposed to be hulking great animals not pretty blonde girls and pale faced men with too many veins. Babcock was getting on for the size of a pick up truck.. and they give us this!
Can we leave the spoilers out of the comments please, if you read the book, good. Let everyone else enjoy the fresh experience. I say this in the most respectful manner as possible.
The trailer already shows me that they've fucked up the story. I hate the tone, too; reminiscent of something one would see on The CW. If the rights to the book went to Amazon, Netflix, or HBO, we'd be seeing a very different trailer. Also, because this is airing on Fox, expect it to not last more than 1 season.
I'm gutted just found out the other day they had made a TV show based on these great books. Got so excited then found out it's been cancelled after 1season. Such a shame as there is so much they could have done with the world that Cronin created
That is the fun part about it. Get a kid that will communicate with you ALL the time is no fun in watching it. And that isn't true in real life either if so I would trade that kid for mine. Naww jk
That’s a damn shame that everyone knows not to get invested into a lot of fox shows because many hardly see a season 2; that’s a serious problem that fox has on there hands; meanwhile over at the CW people are begging for shows to be cancelled; shows be lasted way to long over there 🤣
God he's grown. Wow. Saved by the bell was the dumbest show but worth watching every episode. Very fond of the handsome skipper. First excellent episode. Gonna be wicked. Wicked. Wicked.
I don't understand why some people don't like the actor they picked to play Amy. What? Because she's black? Give me a break. WHO CARES?? She's a great actress. Justin Cronin did a panel at NY Comic Con and said on her audition she NAILED it. I'd much rather have a great actress who can portray the character best.
Exactly .. a bunch of white caucus devils complaining about someone being black , when most movies with ethnic characters are white washed 98% of the time
Personally, I wasn’t bothered by the actor playing Amy being black, rather, I was annoyed by the obnoxious, stereotypical black personality given to her. In the books, she was very complex and interesting but in the show, from what I’ve seen so far at least, they’ve gotten rid of her complex personality, simply making her a token black girl. Hope this clears some things up! :)
FreyaEinde I tried reading the book once a long time ago, and I think I remember the kid having powers or something that made her special in the book. Don't know if this one will or not
The generation of instant gratification, jumping to conclusions from a three min trailer. This show is based on a Trilogy of books that are amazing with a complex storyline. There's alot more to the story than this trailer.
I got all 2 books an electronic 3 rd one in the library. I thought let me read the first. I couldn't even get past chapter 1.....does it get any better? Not sure if I got to chapter one. The premise is good really wanted to like the book.
Stop with all this "Last of Us" garbage comparisons. "The Passage" is a book trilogy which came out years before that video game. And they are not even close to the same thing. Doesn't anyone even read anymore?
My english is not perfect, but i’ll try: the argumment that they are saying is that the video game (I already played it, is a masterpiece) has sold more copies than the book, that's obvious, you can’t compare how much a video game sells against a book 🤦🏻♂️you say it perfectly, most of the people don't read anymore
"Naughty Dog began developing The Last of Us in 2009, following the release of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. " "Cronin first began developing his ideas for The Passage in 2006 when his daughter asked him to write a book about a "girl who saves the world.""
Been waiting since I read the first book and i am so hype for this and so glad they decided to do it as a series rather than a movie. So many materials that it would have been difficult to do it justice. Hopefully they do it right but very encouraged by the trailers.
Thank you fox for having one of the only shows that doesn't portray the straight white guy as a stupid, or evil, or abusive piece of garbage. I am definitely going to watch this show.👍
You're so right. I got really excited to see the trailer then no so much after seeing it. This doesn't look like it's going to do an justice to those books. This should have been a Netflix series like Game of Thrones or Stranger Things with a bigger budget. What's up with the virals? That is not how they are described in the books. Disappointing.
Lulu Bubbles calm your ass down, sis just said based on the book the trailer looks bad which is what everyone else is saying, don’t come on her post talking shit
They need to really need to come up with a strategy to create season 2... If they could really put together a creating team this can be BIG HIT. I believe it was when it first came out
For all moaning about a last of us rip off....the book was written long before the last of us was made. So I think you’ll find maybe the game ripped of Justin Cronins masterpiece ? Or, whatever suits your agendas. Do your homework bhoys and ghirls.
Even if it's good Fox will cancel it.

honeylemondrops then watch it it’s amazing
honeylemondrops Right! They look like vampires. Nothing like the book. And what happened to Babcock?!😂
I hope this series come to Italy! I had read the trilogy and i liked! Sorry for my english!
I am watching this. This is very good. Love it so far.
When does this air and how can we watch it?
Can we leave the spoilers out of the comments please, if you read the book, good. Let everyone else enjoy the fresh experience. I say this in the most respectful manner as possible.
It’s about time MPG gets attention beyond Saved By the Bell. This guy can act. Let’s go Hollywood.
Just found out that they cancel season 2 😫😫😭😭😭.. I am so dissapointed 😭😭😭😭
Is it good? Worth a watch?
The trailer already shows me that they've fucked up the story. I hate the tone, too; reminiscent of something one would see on The CW. If the rights to the book went to Amazon, Netflix, or HBO, we'd be seeing a very different trailer. Also, because this is airing on Fox, expect it to not last more than 1 season.
Yes! Finally! When I read the first book years ago, I was hoping someone would bring this story to the screen!
I'm gutted just found out the other day they had made a TV show based on these great books. Got so excited then found out it's been cancelled after 1season. Such a shame as there is so much they could have done with the world that Cronin created
For those who have seen it or are currently watching the show, is it worth the watch??
why go through all this trouble? Like ... just take another kid?
That is the fun part about it. Get a kid that will communicate with you ALL the time is no fun in watching it. And that isn't true in real life either if so I would trade that kid for mine. Naww jk
The thing is though she's always with Brad so they after Brad more than the child.
Why is this ad on my music?!?! It interrupted my listening session for 3 minutes and THIRTY five seconds!
Eu esperei tantoooo essa série!!
Por favor, não cancelem !
When will it be released?
Another show ready to be cancel
josh lite gdhraadhrquareeara stuff is b.s. n
NOPE THEY BETTER NOT
How come they just don't say fuck it and get a new kid?
josh lite n
That’s a damn shame that everyone knows not to get invested into a lot of fox shows because many hardly see a season 2; that’s a serious problem that fox has on there hands; meanwhile over at the CW people are begging for shows to be cancelled; shows be lasted way to long over there 🤣
When does it air?
No. What? Nooooooooooo this is nothing like the book
galaxys2tr16 totally agree so many things are wrong in this trailer.
We dont care
Prepare... (•_•) /
To have those books... ( •_•)>⌐■-■
Butchered... (⌐■_■)
YEEEEAAAHHH
galaxys2tr16 it’s better
God he's grown. Wow. Saved by the bell was the dumbest show but worth watching every episode. Very fond of the handsome skipper. First excellent episode. Gonna be wicked. Wicked. Wicked.
Honestly, don't watch anything from Fox. You'll get attached and they'll cancel it.
Is this for early 2019? I want to watch this.
I like this version of Running Up the Hill
A relação de Shauna e Clark foi a coisa mais linda da série inteira,o final não foi bom,mas só em saber que o final deles foi bom, valeu a pena 😍❤️
First time I saw this ad, I thought I was watching a trailer for a movie, then shrieked in surprise when I saw FOX come up at the end, lol.
Release date ?
So...Zach Morris takes off with the kid....and then they just get another foster kid like it’s clearly not that difficult to snatch a kid.
yah , dumb
FreyaEinde I tried reading the book once a long time ago, and I think I remember the kid having powers or something that made her special in the book. Don't know if this one will or not
Reading the book right now and it is incredible!
Trailer looks really good but once Placebo played it became awesome.
Ezz why do all the best series get cancelled early 😢 The passage, Flashforward, Origin..
WTH this trailer went from vampire suspense show to 24 action show in the matter of seconds; like is this about vampires or Jason Bourne pick one 😐
Just started the book..worth the read?
I cannot believe this was cancelled
when is this coming out?
The game started development before the book released though
"Naughty Dog began developing The Last of Us in 2009, following the release of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. "
"Cronin first began developing his ideas for The Passage in 2006 when his daughter asked him to write a book about a "girl who saves the world.""
Been waiting since I read the first book and i am so hype for this and so glad they decided to do it as a series rather than a movie. So many materials that it would have been difficult to do it justice. Hopefully they do it right but very encouraged by the trailers.
Mark-Paul Gosselaar is going to be in my TV again?! Hellzzz yes!!!!! #pleasedontcancel
They all die enjoy the show
I can't wait to see this on FOX!
I hope no one here complains about the skin color of Amy
its actually more believeable with a black girl..since black parents can't take care of their kids properly :P

jon suejoj hahahahahahhahahahahahaha!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
is it worth to watch this series?
Essa série é maravilhosa , começou a pouco tempo aqui no Brasil no canal Fox 😍
S
Thank you fox for having one of the only shows that doesn't portray the straight white guy as a stupid, or evil, or abusive piece of garbage. I am definitely going to watch this show.👍
*OK, TIME OUT, PREPPIE!!!*
Zack Morris and Desmond Hume in the same show? SOLD!
Kane from the 100
hell yeah the only reason to watch this 😅
Definitely gonna watch this show i can tell by all the empty negative comments that its actually pretty good.😅
First of all, I LOVE THE BOOKS. But this looks SO BAD.
I guess since I Am Legend with Will Smith sucked, they don't want something that sounds like a prequel to it.
GoodIdeaNydia then don't watch it. I bet you do. I bet you watch the. You come on here and complain about the differences.
Lulu Bubbles calm your ass down, sis just said based on the book the trailer looks bad which is what everyone else is saying, don’t come on her post talking shit
I came here because I’m planning on watching it on hulu
I had to read the books before I watched the show
Craig Miller
This was a book?
Tim Bartsch you mean the trilogy
1. The Passage
2. The Twelve
3. The City Of Mirrors
Craig Miller
Ok then I didn't know that this was a trilogy
Tim Bartsch go to your nearest library and read it
Craig Miller
Have you read it before?
Is this the promo of the whole season?
Looks good
They need to really need to come up with a strategy to create season 2... If they could really put together a creating team this can be BIG HIT. I believe it was when it first came out
No please. Let this die. This needs to die. This show is diarrhea compared to the book. Just go read the book. You will see how much they screwed up.
For all moaning about a last of us rip off....the book was written long before the last of us was made. So I think you’ll find maybe the game ripped of Justin Cronins masterpiece ? Or, whatever suits your agendas. Do your homework bhoys and ghirls.
