    i consider this an estate home and not a castle

      True these days, but in Anglo-Saxon time it was a Motte and Bailey Castle which was destroyed after the seige of Dunster castle in November 1645 and the castle was ordered slighted after the civil war.

    It's a very depressing looking place now - I love old things but not this place. Everything inside is just old & dark with no real beauty found in these rooms. I think there was one room with what looked like a William Morris wallpaper, but that's the only thing that stood out to me besides a few beautiful tea cups because I am a lover of bone china tea cups !!

      I tend to agree with you - it was quite dark and a lot of it seemed stuck in the 1950s
