Glad to hear you talk about weight. Not a lot of people think about the extra unsprung weight that tires can have. Some brands are much heavier. Switch a lighter forged wheel and stick with a slightly lighter tire and you could save 15-20lbs per wheel/tire combo.
I run 37/12.5R17 MT 02s on my Gladiator because Matt said so! The tires have exceeded my expectations on and off road. Their on-road wet performance is probably the most surprising feature. Plenty of grip in this situation like what you'd except from an A/T tire. They're quiet and grippy in all situations I've put them in. Highly recommended.
I bought a set of the original Milestar MT's for my JKU about 7 months ago and I love them. I decided to get them because of your videos. If the can handle what you do to them then they for sure can handle what I do. I drive tons of gravel and dirt/mud roads and have had zero issues with the original MT's. When they do wear out i"m planning on getting a set of MT02's. I will see y'all at the MOORE Expo.
I wheeled with Lite Brite in Sand Hollow and watching how good the MileStar's worked in the rocks I replaced my Toyo MT with them, now I have the new MT02 in 38s,best tire I have ever used in the Rocks which is mostly my type of wheeling, most people feel if they are not paying over $500 a tire they can't be good but I would choose this tire over any other tire for the rocks and on the street they wear really good but you have to keep them at 35psi cold, and rotate every 5000 miles.
I have Patigonias and both of my rigs. My Suburban have E rated just because it weighs 8800 lbs. my JKU is running D rated. I love the Milestars. They are definitely quieter than most of the MT tires out there
I’ve been impressed with the Patagonia Mt’s that I had on our 2500 Ram. Put 20k on them, switched them over to the farm truck when we sold the Ram and have been running them for about 2 years on the old 81 F250. You can’t get those silly things stuck. It spends most of its time in the northern Missouri red clay. I’m thinking about doing the new ones on my bronco when it’s time. Thanks for the review
I love these tires. I've had the M/T's for a little over a year on my stock 21 Bronco BadSquatch. I'm in SoCal and run lots of level 7-9 trails. I run the tires between 8-15 psi depending on the terrain. I've had the sidewalls folded over and pinched between a rock and the wheel... no issues. The traction in wet and dry is amazing and when you combine this with the amazing low end torque of the twin turbo V6... my bronco slow crawls steep off camber inclines when everyone else is spinning. I now have ~23k miles on them and am going to replace with the MT02's.
I really appreciate this video! Researching new 37 inch tires for the gen 6 bronco. The weight is really leading me to these tires (mainly cause of IFS). The longevity was a little concern. Especially since i drive a lot from NE Indiana to have good overlanding experiences. Tires are such a rabbit hole with RT, XT, AT, and such, but you really explained real-world experiences very well. New sub now. Thanks for this video!
I loved my Milestars! However, my main issue was the sidewalls. It is, to date, still the only tire I keep destroying the sidewall on. I haven't tried the latest version though, so hopefully they have improved the durability there. I'm running 35's on a JKUR and not getting too crazy. Tires I also run are Nitto, Cooper, and BF Goodrich. I'd love to go back to the Milestars if they fixed the sidewall issue.
No experience with these tires but I’ve been running kenda klever RT in a load range e on my half ton Silverado and highly recommend them. Tire prices everywhere have skyrocketed, but when I got these, they were super affordable. 20k miles and still look new. And amazing in the snow. I live up in montana and these things have never let me down. I kinda wanna try the new BFG ko3 tire but man these kendas have really proven themselves to me
I had M/T AT3, I now have the Baja Boss in a 35" & they are superior on/off road. I was thinking of the Milestar in a 37 or 38" but was deterred by the wear. Thanks for explaining all that, I may consider them in the future. 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Good info, Matt. I'm about to retire my 2nd set of 38" original Pats. I've got over 40K miles out of them and they've been great (I'm religious about rotating every 2K miles). I've seen some sidewalls issues on the trails, but nothing personally. I originally planned to go with another brand this time around, but the price on these still can't be beat and I don't have enough negative to justify switching. Glad to hear about the improvements and can't wait to see it for myself.
I had 50% left at 40,000 miles on my first gen MTs. I absolutely loved them. I kept them at 32psi on a 2 door JK because any higher they rolled sideways ( causing understeer) on curves.
Matt: always great content…I have 2021 Gladiator with a 2” Mopar lift…dealer talked me into a set of 37” Patagonia M/T’s. They look great and performed well. After about 15K miles, they got so loud I could not hear my wife talking to me while driving along in the passenger seat. I held out to about 25K miles and then tapped out (I could not even make calls on my CarPlay). Went back to the proven best: BFG KO2’s in 37”. Yes, about $2K but well worth in. Safe travels and sorry about your pup…met you guys at Overland East 2 years ago.
I just picked up a set of the Padagonia XT tires and so far am loving them. I don't want a full MT tire since it's my daily driver and I have an hour (one way) commute, so the XT was the next logical choice given the incredible value compared to other "hybrid" tires. I paid $183 each for 265/75R16, and they have a 40k mile warranty. Unfortunately they are an E rated tire, but on my first trail outing on them I aired down to 15psi and didn't have any complaints.
@@BagleyGarage they never balance out 100%, maybe I got a bad set or something. But other than some chunking of the tread, not super disappointed. They're quiet even after a lot of abuse.
I have a set of first-gen 31" tires on my 99 XJ with a 3.5 inch lift. I love these tires. So far I got around 10k miles on them. Haven't run them on any snow but plenty of rock, dirt, and sand. So far my only complaint is that they're so soft that I got a few chips from the rocks I was climbing. In the tires defense, the rocks had some jagged edges. I'm sure a set of 02's would do better. I plan on getting a set of 33"s or 35" 02s next year.
Hey Matt, THANK YOU for this review !!!! 😄👍👍I Am getting these for my Tacoma after my Goodyear Duratracks wear out ..Those tires Are a Decent tire for Offroading here in CO., But are prone to sidewall issues, and NEED to be rotated often... They're also Not a true MT tire , BUT...They EXCEL in the snow ,which is DEFINITELY A PLUS Here !!!! THANK YOU for ALLLLL you do !!!!! LOVE you both ..
I love my original mt ,about 3 yrs old about 35 k and I do rotate every 3 k or so ..tires ride good at 26 psi for a load C ..I am currently sipping them myself to get good bite for winter..I always do that on my tires towards there end of life..I try and get the most out of all my jeep tires..I make sure the family car always has tip top tires..But for my jeeps I use them down to nothing, the original mts do chip on rocks pretty easy,I was in Johnson valley and tore some chunks off..I think I will by the regular mt’s again ,they work good enough for me..thx for the video
Love the milstar mt tires I just bought my first set of the mt02 and I'm really excited about it I can't complain with how my older mts did I'm only buying milstar for my truck and Suvs I wanna get a set of the xts I think it is for my trailblazer I'm a diehard fan of them
I just bought 5 Pat MT 35” for $1200 (@214.00 per tire) from Walmart. I was going to get the same 33” Nitto Trail Grappler, but they were almost $400+ per tire. We’ll see how they do, I get about the same gas mileage as before, although it probably wouldn’t hurt to regear my Jeep since I have 3.73 gears.
I concur. On my 2nd set of Original MTs and they do great. Just got back from SMORR and it solidified why I love them. They did great and I have open diffs. I’ll be getting MTO2s next and their 315/75R16 D load is still well priced👍👍 Thanks for the review!!!!
As always, very useful video. Almost time to change my tires. Will consider Milestar Patagonia MT02 for sure. They are in my price range!!Thank You Matt!!!
Milestars tires are popular. Personal preference for me BFG'S mud terrains they seem to last three times as long as mile stars literally I'm at 60 % on third year. Milestars lasted a year. Price is nice on milestars. Thanks for the review
I'm just starting my build of my JT and I have always run cooper STT pros with great luck! But because of you and Matts Off Road recovery running these i'm going to give a set of 38 a try!! Thanks for the video.
Patagonia is the best All Around tire being that they compound is softer, it acts like a Sticky on rocks. for a MT, it also rides like an AT on the highway. No tire does 100% in all categories. a full blown MT is noisy on the highway and a full AT will get you stuck in the mud.
@@TwoFeatherChannel but it's an option for those that want a little bit of AT and MT combined. All I'm getting at. May not work for you but it can for others.
Seems like Milestar might be tapped into the motorcycle tire philosophy, weight, compounds, etc, you get a lot of quiet, decent wear and overall good manners with the tighter center pattern, leaving the really biting tread on the outside edge. I’ll be looking at milestar when my factory Faulkner wildpeaks start to get on the thin side. Good info, much appreciated
I have a set of Milestar Patagonia MT02 285/70/17 on my Tacoma and absolutely love them. Still playing with the psi to find the sweet spot but overall I love them on and off road
Great video! I love my Patagonia tires. I ran the Falken Wildpeak’s MTs before them and…..in my opinion the Patagonia is a better all around tire. It would be great if you could do a video comparison with vs STT Pros. Showing aired down foot print comparison. To see which tire has a better ground contact, and flex around a object. I recently seen a video where a guy had the same size tire stt pro on one vehicle and the km3 on another. Then he aired them down to the exact same air pressure and put them through the paces. He drove both vehicles so there was no difference in the driving. It was surprising how well they compared to each other. You really couldn’t see a difference between the two in the mud, rocks, and over slippery roots. It was also a great video.
I ran a set of the originals on my Tacoma as well as my F-150. They were decent tires. Not my favorite, but decent and *for the price* they are incredible tires. I sold them because of the air pressure vs. noise annoyance. When aired up to 37 on the Taco, and 39 on the F-150, they were acceptably quiet and rode on the crown but the ride was a lot harsh. Setting to a more comfortable pressure, they'd run more on the shoulders but were noticeably louder than the Cooper STT Pros I have on my JK. They also did not eject mud, which is disappointing if you're interested in a good MT.
Appreciate the detailed review. Have to replace the Goodyear Kevlar MT's on my TJ (still plenty of tread but so old they are dry rotting). Wanted an MT with good performance but a little less noisy than the Goodyears and was on the fence on pulling the trigger on the Milestar MT02's. Think I will really like them. Have the Micky Thompson Baja MTZ's on my JK and have been very happy with those tires as well, but wanted to try something else on the TJ.
thx for the honest review regardless if theyre sponsors or not. One question - how do they balance? Im getting a set of 38's for my 78 bronco build - have always run BFG's but im going to give the milestars a try this time.
At 12:04 when I saw you get bogged down in that thick Arkansas mud we have (I love this state) I thought, “oh he’s winching out of there for sure.” Nope! 😂 That’s crazy!!
I have a set of the original ones on my tacoma, and in the mud, I thought they did amazing, in the rain on the street It will break lose quick taking off from a light. But I thought they are awesome tire love them. I heard in the snow the Mt2s are amazing as well, better then the original ones.
Funny you mentioned LiteBrite cause yea man that’s exactly what sold me on trying them out. 2 years on my first set and 4 Jeep Jamborees on PA rocks and thousands of miles on the highway. I screwed up though, I was told when I got them to run them at 26 psi on the highway, that’s way too low, any now they are feathered badly and noisy as hell. Getting the 35 inch MTs swapped out with 35 inch MT 02s and will run the correct pressure this time and see how we do
It’s interesting that you mentioned you had a bad ball joint on the right front. Because I’m having increased tire wear on my right front tire on my Gladiator as well
I am not sponsored by anyone. I switched out the 285 BFG KO2 C that came stock on my JLUR with 285 Patagonia MT E. I have to say I like the Patagonias way better. They have lasted longer also.
You should test the THUNDERER Trac Grip M/T tires. I’ve been running a set on my quad cab hemi 4x4 Ram 1500 for around 2 years now and love them. I picked up a like new Patagonia M/T (manufactured in ‘22) for $40 on marketplace and have it as a spare tire. Have yet to need it.
I have always run km’s, however in different videos there is no clear advantage to paying more for a km than those milestars. My question to you is do see any advantage of the 38 over the 37
I have the original MTs in 37x12.50x17 and my front tires cupped bad at 21k miles. I didn't rotate so my fault i guess. They also SUCK in the rain. I have them in 35 on a jk and 37s are on a Gladiator. Both will spin and skid in the rain. Didn't happen with the previous Goodyear Kevlar. How are these in the rain? How are
Ok. I’ve watched all of your videos and love them all…but…those tires…ugh….I know everyone has their opinions but watching the videos you’ll see bf Goodrich all terrains walk through things that the milestones spin. I typically do not comment but I really would like to see you try a different tire so you’d see a better result! Keep the videos coming!!!! ❤ you guys
As stated in the video I’ve run Toyo MTs, Toyo RTs, Toyo ATIi, Nitto Trail Grapplers, and a couple others. You couldn’t pay me to run K02s. It’s the most overrated tire available and excel at nothing but long tread wear. My friends have BFG KM3s and do no better that I do. As also stated in the video the MT02 is NOT the same tire as the original which is what you are referring to. It’s a much better tire that addresses the shortcomings of the original.
Matt good video! I'm running Milestar Patagonia 02's M/T's on my 2016 jk Rubicon. They're 285/70R17's. What air pressure do you recommend for on the highway? Thank you!!
Got them on my 4Runner and getting my second set soon. They were as good as studded snow tires on snowy roads. Went through 2’ easy Super swamper Iroks went in the mud better IMO. Can’t find them in Ak
Totally OK! I'll just watch more of your old videos. I especially love the almost 3 hour video from Colorado when you did mosquito pass and holy cross!
Questions. On your gladiator, if you wasn't towing, would the C rated be good enough in your opinion. I have 22 Rubicon Gladiator and don't overland and my towing is of a couple of atvs. Also, I have the metalcloak 3½" game changer lift. What offset or back spacing and lift are you running. I have 17" rims with 4½" back spacing. I've been told that I'd have to go tk a - 38 offset to run a 13.50 tire. What are y'all running.
Matt, I just added 37” Milestar Patagonia to my gladiator !! Did you have to remove heat shield to get the spare tucked under? My tire guy says removal was the only way to get it in.
I have not removed my heat shield even with my 38s. The key is having the Clayton Offroad rear trackbar with the bend in it to accommodate the larger spare.
Hey Matt, I’m planning to replace my 4Runner tires with the Patagonia MT. I really should do it before I strike out to Moore but I’m curious if Milestar will have any promotions that weekend?
Currently running the 38x13.5 MT and thinking about replaceing them before we head to Moab with the MT 02. Was curious how they performed on your trip to Moab compared to the MT?
Thanks for your input, I’m running 35” mt and love them so far I definitely want to check out the mt 02 ! By the way where did to get the trash bag for the gladiator?
I hate to say this but my JLUR plays with my 35s KO2 and with a 2.5 inch Terraflex lift I think I need bigger tires to fill up that space lol. Unfortunately the C rated 38s are more expensive than the D rated ones, $357 vs $380-400 respectively
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures I’m assuming the original. That would’ve been 2 years ago that I ran them, the wet performance was not great and they wore funny. Maybe I’ll give the Gen 2 a shot on my next set.
Love my Pats, just put mt02 on , first set of the original finally wore out after many hard miles in az co nm trails! Also those shoes look super comfy, where did you find those?!
Very informative video. Just wondering why Falken M/Ts is not included in your tire comparison. I would love to hear from an experienced off road enthusiast. I am running Falken on my 3rd Gen Toyota 4runner and i prefer it more than the BFG KO2s on my 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma. I am looking at other tires for my 80 series land cruiser but leaning more towards the Falken. I just hope there is more information on the snow performance for the Patagonia.
I'm thinking of the XTs for my next tire on the Gladiator. Would be cool if you guys could run them on one of the Jeeps for a while and see how they compare.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures Thanks for the response. I should have just asked for your loaded tire height measurement. With the revs per mile, you can calculate the approximate loaded tire height to get an idea of how big the tire is installed. Here is the calc for my Toyo 37s with 569 revs per mile, 63360/569/3.1416 = 35.44”. Fairly accurate as mine measured out at 35.5” loaded. The measured tire height is really what I need to determine how much extra room I need in the fender to fit these tires on my truck. I am currently running 37s with no rubbing at full flex and full lock. Although your loaded tire height will be slightly different than on my truck, it would give me a good idea of actual loaded tire size. My truck is probably 800 lbs heavier than yours loaded based on watching your videos. Can you provide me your loaded tire height measurement?
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures Awesome. That is what I needed. A lot of tire manufacturers will provide the revs per mile on their tires. I just couldn’t find any information on the Milestar tires. By the way I love your TH-cam channel (great content and great video production quality). I have been overlanding with Wolf Overland a couple of times already and am really enjoying the adventures.

Milestars tires are popular. Personal preference for me BFG'S mud terrains they seem to last three times as long as mile stars literally I'm at 60 % on third year. Milestars lasted a year. Price is nice on milestars. Thanks for the review
The new 02 versions last a LOT longer than the originals.
I'm just starting my build of my JT and I have always run cooper STT pros with great luck! But because of you and Matts Off Road recovery running these i'm going to give a set of 38 a try!! Thanks for the video.
Patagonia is the best All Around tire
being that they compound is softer, it acts like a Sticky on rocks.
for a MT, it also rides like an AT on the highway.
No tire does 100% in all categories. a full blown MT is noisy on the highway and a full AT will get you stuck in the mud.
They now have a XT "middle ground" tire that many can consider as well. That is the route that I went.
@@JTube571 XT would never work here in Louisiana, that would be considered a street tire here.
Mickey Thompson Baja Boss M/T 37/12.5/17 $489.79
@@TwoFeatherChannel Too small and too expensive
The sidewalls issues I believe are from the black label "sticky" version of this tire. Not the dot tire
At 12:04 when I saw you get bogged down in that thick Arkansas mud we have (I love this state) I thought, “oh he’s winching out of there for sure.”
Nope! 😂 That’s crazy!!
I’ll have to give these a try next time I be been wandering about we’re so thanks
Getting the 35 inch MTs swapped out with 35 inch MT 02s and will run the correct pressure this time and see how we do
Hi Matt, thank you for the content. I found it very helpful. 😊
It’s interesting that you mentioned you had a bad ball joint on the right front. Because I’m having increased tire wear on my right front tire on my Gladiator as well
Thanks Matt!
I am not sponsored by anyone. I switched out the 285 BFG KO2 C that came stock on my JLUR with 285 Patagonia MT E. I have to say I like the Patagonias way better. They have lasted longer also.
Really enjoyed this review, Thank you!
Great at product reviews! 👍 Just Wish this was out about 3 weeks earlier. ☹️ Bought the Nitto’s.
My question to you is do see any advantage of the 38 over the 37
You only gain a half inch extra height with the 38s. If you wheel hard every little bit helps but otherwise stick with 37s.
Excellent review! Overall which would you recommend the 37s or 38s? 12.5 or 13.5 wide?
Honestly there’s not much difference. I wish they made a 38 12.50.
Subbed awhile back love your channel you an your wife are such great people much respect 👍👍
Awesome! Thank you!
How are
Might go this route for my next tire. Right now running the Toyo AT3 but want something more aggressive
I love my milestar 35s on 16 inch rims on my 73 dodge 3/4 ton truck i have no complaints at all
Hi Matt, what are you running for wheels? Offset? Backspace? I'm looking at the 37's.
Im stuck between those and Nitto mud grapplers
Still running the stock ball joints/ knuckles? Not sure if you have a video on that I may have missed.
Matt good video!
I'm running Milestar Patagonia 02's M/T's on my 2016 jk Rubicon. They're 285/70R17's.
What air pressure do you recommend for on the highway?
Thank you!!
37
Matt, thank you for getting back to me. Do these tires need to be broken in? If so how many miles?
Got them on my 4Runner and getting my second set soon.
They were as good as studded snow tires on snowy roads.
Went through 2’ easy
Super swamper Iroks went in the mud better IMO. Can’t find them in Ak
how's the road noise?
If it weren't for the extra weight, I'd say you need a set of travel tires, and a set of offroad tires LOL Good video
I saw a notification from your channel and got way too excited hoping it was for Pritchett. Ha ha ha.
awww. Pritchett will be a few weeks.
Totally OK! I'll just watch more of your old videos. I especially love the almost 3 hour video from Colorado when you did mosquito pass and holy cross!
@@thomascortez9246 Thanks!! We have lots of Moab content coming.
I run my E rated BFG K02's at about 15psi off road.
Matt,
I just added 37” Milestar Patagonia to my gladiator !! Did you have to remove heat shield to get the spare tucked under? My tire guy says removal was the only way to get it in.
I have not removed my heat shield even with my 38s. The key is having the Clayton Offroad rear trackbar with the bend in it to accommodate the larger spare.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures yes I also added Clayton lift .. I’ll have to drop spare and see what’s going on
Hey Matt, I’m planning to replace my 4Runner tires with the Patagonia MT. I really should do it before I strike out to Moore but I’m curious if Milestar will have any promotions that weekend?
Milestar doesn't sell direct and sadly won't be at MOORE this year.
What up from Little Rock
Currently running the 38x13.5 MT and thinking about replaceing them before we head to Moab with the MT 02. Was curious how they performed on your trip to Moab compared to the MT?
They were excellent!! I love these tires!!
Thanks for your input, I’m running 35” mt and love them so far I definitely want to check out the mt 02 ! By the way where did to get the trash bag for the gladiator?
Here you go - www.atelierxa.com/
I got 40k miles from the original 37 12.5 r17 mt. Rotated every 3.5k
I hate to say this but my JLUR plays with my 35s KO2 and with a 2.5 inch Terraflex lift I think I need bigger tires to fill up that space lol. Unfortunately the C rated 38s are more expensive than the D rated ones, $357 vs $380-400 respectively
Wanted to love them but they didn’t work for me.
Glad to see other folks like them. The company seems great, stuck with the toyo MTs.
The 02 or the original?
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures I’m assuming the original. That would’ve been 2 years ago that I ran them, the wet performance was not great and they wore funny.
Maybe I’ll give the Gen 2 a shot on my next set.
How well did the tires balance out, want to try them but have had a bad experience with not so round MT tires.
No issues.
Love my Pats, just put mt02 on , first set of the original finally wore out after many hard miles in az co nm trails! Also those shoes look super comfy, where did you find those?!
Do you have to air up to 35 psi to have them run on the center tread, before going on hardtop?
I air up to 38
How are they with balancing? Any vibrations at higher speeds. Thanks
I have Discount Tire do all my installs and they've never had an issue with them. No vibrations.
Mat what is the deepest water crossing you run in the Ozarks??
Almost 4 feet
Very informative video. Just wondering why Falken M/Ts is not included in your tire comparison. I would love to hear from an experienced off road enthusiast.
I am running Falken on my 3rd Gen Toyota 4runner and i prefer it more than the BFG KO2s on my 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma. I am looking at other tires for my 80 series land cruiser but leaning more towards the Falken. I just hope there is more information on the snow performance for the Patagonia.
Falkens are great tires. They are just ridiculously heavy. Falken MTs and K02s are not a fair comparison. Apples and oranges. Lol.
I've rotated my MT's every 3K and have 35K on them now. I expect to get another 25K out of them on my Gladiator that I off road and work as a truck.
Awesome!!
I'm thinking of the XTs for my next tire on the Gladiator. Would be cool if you guys could run them on one of the Jeeps for a while and see how they compare.
We actually wanted the XTs for my wife's Jeep but they weren't available in the size we wanted at the time.
does this tire come in a 35" for 17" wheel?
Yes it does but in the metric version - 315/70 r17 is a 35.
Think I might try these.. 35 on my Bronco…
Trying to find revs per mile for the 38x13.5x17 D version? Any idea? Have you measured the loaded height of your tires?
Not sure what revs per mile is. Of course I've measured the tires on the Gladiator. That's how you program them to get your speedo accurate.
Not sure what revs per mile is or why you would want that. Yes I've measured them on the Gladiator. That's how you program your Jeep for larger tires.
@@redbeastadventures mine is about 36.5
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures Awesome.
Good video was spot on from My experience (only original Mt) Personally I love the Kenda Kleaver RT on my work truck and am liking the Venom power xt on the Bronco ( I know you are a Bronco hater) nobody is perfect lol.

Yep. I’ve never slid on wet pavement. Ever.
